Should Ranbir be credited for APKGK and Raajneeti?

When APKGK and Raajneeti were released, Kat was the top actress. Ranbir was a newcomer. Before APKGK he didn't have a single clean hit, and Katrina was coming after New York which was a hit.

Then this movie became the third highest grosser in 2009. How can we credit Ranbir for that? Katrina had much bigger contribution than Ranbir in APKGK. After APKGK Ranbir again went to give a box office failure which was Rocket Singh.

For Raajneeti I think Ajay deserves major credit as he undoubtedly was and is a Superstar.

I haven't watched APKGK but from whatever I have heard, it seems like Kat had more to do with the movie and Ranbir was equally decent.

Regarding Rajneeti, I have watched it a lot of times and I would admit that Ajay was the shining star. His portrayal of Sooraj (Karna in context with Mahabharat) was so genuine that i felt bad for him throughout the movie. May be it was more for the fact that I loved Karna in Mahabharat.Besides Ajay, Manoj Bajpayee stood out from the rest. Ranbir was good with what he was given. Kat was good as well but honestly I don't think she had much to do. The hype was created that she was playing a role portraying Sonia Gandhi but it was nothing like that. So yeah, credit for Rajneeti goes to the entire cast and not just to Ranbir or Kat.

For me ranbir was the best part about both the movies apkgk belongs completely to him Katrina was decent but ranbir was best part of the film and same goes for rajneeti he held his own against the other talented actors plus imo samar was the most layered character of the film probably one was the best characters ever written dynamic grey shaded and ranbir did a fabulous job

Ranbir is a floppie..How can he be credited for hits.. Everything under the sun worked for the movie but not him. He deserves zero credit.

Ranbir cannot do anything correct.

APKGK had the hype because of both of them and the songs were a major factor(Tu Jane naa anyone?)

And with Rajneeti the hype was again due to the entire cast. No doubt Ranbir and his character were both the focal point of the movie but we are talking about why it was a hit which cannot be solely credited to him or any other cast members.

PS - I'm not a fan of RK but his portrayal of Samar was fab. That gray shaded character and the cold calculating eyes, RK was so good. If only someone would cast him in such a role again but alas that's not gonna happen now🥱

Katrina was THE DRAW for both Rajneeti and APKJK, as Ajay himself was going through a low phase before it, with his last solo hit being was back in 2003 with Bhoot, I know revisionists will always try to discredit Katrina. But that was the truth during those days.

Ranbir had a great performance in APKJK though, carried the movie beautifully. And had a hand in its success, but the star power was Katrina. Also the music was a huge draw.
