Wow.... Superb post.... 👏
I .enjoyimg the. Phase where they are exploring babita inner battle... Will be waiting when hs will open up his inner demons and his fear...
One thing is true... Wo kitna bhi himmat dikhade but he can't even live a second if he looses her... That he has shown as well when he thought that Babita will go with Ashok when she asked him to withdraw the case against Ashok....

Hahaha, we crave for topics like this, so bring it on! 😎
I think his defensive behavior sprouts from a potential guilt of loving someone other than Imarti. We've witnessed just how deep and passionate their love was. While his love and equation with Babita is different, it doesn't change the fact that it's still love. After Imarti, he was able to feel something for another woman, weave new dreams about her, with her and for her. He may be trying to convince himself that he's not betraying Imarti or his memories by moving on from her.
Their ability to overwhelm another is truly astonishing. It's no wonder they need to resort to clanging objects in order to express themselves. 😆
Yup, and in a way, Imarti is a done deal. I hate saying that about her but it's the truth. She is his history and hence can be spoken in a factual manner. Babita's very existence on the other hand, completely shakes him to his core. She's a living being who has the capacity to change the direction of his life in any given moment. It is that factor of unpredictability that scares him the most.
I agree...and it’s not just the guilt of loving someone other than Imarti...I think some of it is also about loving someone so markedly different from Imarti. He keeps saying many times that Babita reminds him of Imarti as if that gives him solace...but I actually think he’s hiding behind that excuse because he hasn’t fully reconciled to feeling love for a person so different from what he thought his ideal was - Imarti. There’s a reason I think Naeem Bi scolded him many times for saying Babita did something like Imarti.
He isn’t consciously looking for Imarti in Babita....but the emotion of love is so synonymous with Imarti in his conscious, that he isn’t being able to properly seperate the two.
At the same time though, what he feels for Babita is so powerful that all these complex contradictory emotions aren’t able to keep him away from her either. He craves her, craves her love...despite claiming that he himself loves only Imarti.
I also find it interesting how he comes undone by any small gesture or touch from Babita...is it because he’s purposely closed himself off for so long after Imarti or is it Babita herself that brings out such powerful responses from him? That’s what remains to be seen. I feel it may be a mix of the two.
Another scene I find relevant in this conversation is the one when he tells Laale that he wants a complete Babita for himself, not a fragmented one...he is ready to wait for that moment, but conversely, he hasn’t fully looked inside himself to address whether he is giving Babita all of himself or fragments of himself. Is he expecting something from her that he himself isn’t giving her properly yet? Human emotions are so complex that way. Some things are easier said than done...especially when the shoe is on the other foot.
Perhaps he too wants Babita to give him that patience that will help him piece together those fragments and give himself as a whole to her. That is the journey.
I know the story has been presented as Imarti changing Hanuman into the evolved progressive guy he became but I feel the challenge for Babita May be greater since he is now a man grappling with complex emotions from his past....and Babita is a woman carrying her own scars - which Imarti was not.
This has the potential to be a very powerfully compelling journey for Hanuman and Babita together.

Thank you! :)
I’m enjoying this phase as well. Babita does need to face her inner demons to emerge stronger. And she will need to be stronger to help Hanuman when the time comes as well. Just as he is doing for her now when she is grappling with her darkest demons.
Yep, HS really can’t bear to live without her. The moment someone even makes a statement about her going away from his life, he looks so heartbroken like he can’t even imagine life without her.
I think that he is was in awe of her before, remember the hidden glances at her and not looking directly at her. The feelings have been developing slowly for a long time now. The Holi scene bought to head for him and I think that he acknowledged to himself what She means to him. He told Lally that as well that if she left he will not be able to bear it this time.
Even when Nayeem Be told him to tell Babita how he feels or let her go he was shattered by the thought.
These are two different women who came/are in his life and they both bring out different emotions in him like a passionate love etc
I think that he loves Babita more but is too scared to think of it or acknowledge it yet.
I feel the same. And it’s not like it’s a competition for who he loves more. No one expects him to choose but he is still scared to face the depth and magnitude of his love for Babita.
But I do think he still reveres her. There are still moments when he steps back and talks to her indirectly...there is still that respectful distance because anytime he crosses one line with her, she freezes and he’s taken that as a signal that she still needs time and respectful distance as of now.
The challenge for Hanuman is that his feelings for her have strengthened so much over time but he still keeps a leash on them to some extent to give her time to feel that sense of security.
He loved Imarti passionately....he is fundamentally a passionate man. He loves Babita passionately as well, but he holds himself back from expressing that passion to her. His eyes give away the depth of his passion for her though. Reverence is still mixed in because he fundamentally admires her...but there is passion as well.

The scene where Naeem Bi told him.. ki tujhe aadha adhura pake kya karegi. Tujhe pane ki chah bhi rahegi aur pa bhi nahi sakegi. Isse aschha hai tu kuch bol hi mat. taklif hogi use. tut bhi jayegi lekin fir sambhal legi khud ko. Dekha hai mene... himmat bahot hai usmein.
HS's expressions there said so much. He was in denial yet when Naeem Bi said that Babita will move on. She will live without him, was such a jolt. I guess that is why he ran to propose to her. That very thought bothered him so much that Babes can go on without him being in her life. Up until then he was like.. I like her, she likes me - I can feel so. we have our moments, sath rehte hai.. aur kya chahiye. But when he has to let her go, is when his emotions come out. is when he gets rattled by the intensity of his feelings for her. Same happened when she asked to release Ashok. He did confess it to Lale, ki aaj Ashok le jata na daughter ki mother ko.. toh tera yeh sir saab na seh pata lale. Itni himmat na hai tere sir saab mein.
Somewhere down the line.. he would have to address this. It will be wonderful to watch that. Full confidence on writers.

Word. He gets rattled like hell at the thought of losing her. And you aptly pointed out that it cut deep when Naeem Bi told him that Babita would be strong enough to move on from him if she had to. He couldn’t bear to even imagine that.
He so badly wants to get that level of attachment from Babita. Even though he knows she has a lot of complex emotions inside to sort through. But he can’t bear to imagine a world without her beside him.
That is why I think he reached a sort of “chalta hai, chalta rehne do” compromise in his side so that he will atleast have her in his life in some way. But when Naeem Bi raised the possibility of Babita moving on, he couldn’t bear it. He does always want to give her the choice to make her decisions, but at the same time, the truth remains that he needs her and he isn’t able to hide that no matter what excuses he uses to hide his vulnerability.
It’s interesting that he is the more vulnerable one in this relationship...despite the fact that Babita appears more scarred and fragile, he is the more vulnerable one emotionally because he fears loving that deeply and losing a loved one again.

@bold that is the crux of the matter and he knows it extremely well. In that conversation with Lala after Ashok left, he made it clear that he could not survive such a blow again. Also in the police station, he said that he had a small/delicate heart that he had been protecting so long and was afraid that his inability to "love in half measures" would sweep him away at one point.
I think the loss of Imarti has a great part to play in it, but I am also sure losing his mother and all the childhood trauma he faced must have created some issues for him with respect to abandonment. These haven't been addressed yet and he hasn't been able to get over his insecurities. With Babita, on some level he is once again afraid that he will not be able to stop her leaving, just as he could not stop his mother or Imarti.
Well, well, I know only two people who can draw me back to writing essays or watching ITV.
Sigh, AY, all these years and you still make me watch things from a different perspective.
You say this is not for me,while penning the raw complexity of a man struggling to embrace love once again after falling in the abyss , once before.
You say this might not work for me while unravelling the nuances of an unsaid, unshared pain.
You say, I should just read the essays while inciting the promise of three characters who seek each other to heal and to live.
It’s been eons since I have done this, I might be rusty and back on these pages, but seems like that sub-tweeting worked, you and this has my attention.
Deal with me, AY..once again.😉
