Still 3 Idiots, Gadar is a classic definitely, and Sunny's dialogues and that epic handpump scenes are BW legacy. But the appeal of it's is kinda limited to Punjabi dominated areas, after a time, it didn't had same Pan India effect that 3 Idiots has. It is harsh to judge the footfalls of multiplex era movie by comparing it with pre-multiplex era movie.

3 Idiots even in the multiplex era ran for nearly 25 weeks in many theatres, a rare feat only Bahubaali has matched in Pan India level.

The reason 3 Idiots is still more relevant, because it is about educational pressure, a theme which is so rampant in the nation.

Just look at the repeat viewing it still has, 3 idiots is still a bloody popular movie, plus its impact on pop culture shouldn't be overlooked.

Didn't being a multiplex era film helped 3 Idiots in earning more with high ticket prices? Piracy do effect the footfalls in modern times though.

Don't know why the Poll choices didn't appear. They were 3 Idiots, Gadar and Any other.

Yes, 3 idiots is quite overrated. A decent watch but nothing breathtaking as people make it out to be. And it definitely doesn’t have a repeat value at least for me.

I too agree with this. Raju Hirani movies seem great in first watch but become preachy on repeat watch.

it still had high 3 crores plus footfalls.

And that was without the current 4000 plus screens support or the previous era long running format.

3 idiots has engineers on its side. The self proclaimed tortured souls of India 😆 God I remember when it released, literally every engineer friend I knew told me it's their life story. So it's appeal is unprecedented and will continue to be because India is basically 60% engineers.

Gadar is for the patriotic public. Like Border. They have a certain demographic which doesn't include the youth.

You think some farmer from UP connects to 3 Idiots?

It was Gadar on the contrary which was pan India. 3 Idiots did almost all it's business in A and B centres.
