Absolutely we all can agree to disagree.

What I was trying to signify is that Naina has completely taken the love of Sameer for granted. I know the hurdles girls face not only in the 90s but also today.

That is why I said - the writers wanted to project the oppression of Naina. (and how family stops the lovers) But the execution is making Naina appear as someone extremely matter of fact.

She let go of Sameer. Sameer dealt with that by despair and then ego. But eventually, he let go of all his ego/hurt and swallowed the bitter pill of being Just Friend! to Naina. Why? So that Naina can smoothly sail to her marriage with Sharad to a new chapter!

That's all fine! But it does make Naina look like she has completely taken for granted all that Sameer does for her and will do for her in future. It is somewhat like having a genie who always does what you say but you are under no obligation to do what the genie says.

Here Sameer has become that genie.

If the writers do not show or skip the realization of Naina that she needs to at least make up her mind to stand by Sameer whenever the time comes, then Sameer proposing her again creates confusion.

Because your logical mind would tell you that Sameer might again be taken for a royal snub. As I said what if Anand for any reason says one day " Naina! In my opinion, you and Sameer are not a good match to each other in the long run" In the normal course, Naina would take maximum a day to ditch Sameer again and say that it's for his good!

Hence, it is necessary that the writer's show the change in the thinking of Naina where she realizes that when the time comes, she will be ready to take on her family to be with Sameer. It would take time to build the courage.

But at least her way of thinking should be on the correct path. It should not still be in the mode of bailing out the moment someone in her family shows even a tiny bit of resistance.

I agree when they come together again their has to be change in her thinking and more courage to stand up for her love. Because even if Chachaji agrees, there is very little that he would be able to do anyway. We already saw how helpless he was when Sharad's rishta came by.

However don't agree that Naina took Sameer for granted... Taking for granted means you think that person is always going to be available and you don't need to do anything for it... Or you under estimate the importance or value of that person. Here Naina knows that she can't get a better life partner than Sameer and she is loosing him forever. So don't know where taking for grated is coming from.

On friendship, I don't think Sameer accepted it so that she can sail through easily but he accepted it cause he still wants to be a reason for her smile. He also wants now that both of them should remember each other happily. I don't think being friends or not being friends is going to make anything easy for Naina.. it is going to be difficult either way...

Naina only needs to understand that if u love someone than at least should tried to fight for that person to the world where she actually lacking badly ...I know she belongs from the family where accept few ,no one cares about her feelings but still she can't loose someone so easily who love her "Jaan Se Bi Jaada" once she decides to be with sameer,he sure helps her to come out from this situation and don't left her alone..
For her, family always comes first but somewhere sameer too should deserve the love and support of her .
As new spoiler, she going to stand against her own fathers but this time for chachjee respect so wants her to do same for sameer in future .

Rest sameer accepted her friendship bcos he don't want her to be live with their bad memories and she too wants the same
But still it's not be so easy for both of them if rishta won't be broken

Means she has to married with other person and sameer again left behind getting hurt more .
After rishta broken ...Actually wants proper redemption of naina where she herself tell about his importance in her life and realised what she has done was actually the worst step .

Nice discussions.

I agree with the fact that being a more realistic show we are annoyed the characters are behaving very unrealistic. Esp Sameer if he continues his acts of benevolence it gets grinding. The way Sameer is reacting is very Mahaanta types. I want the old Sameer back who is so full of smart ideas and having his way.

Coming to Naina I don't think Cvs think Naina is wrong..I didn't see any scene which hinted she is at fault..Cvs are hell bent on justifying her act so I don't think we will get any redemption track..we may instead get a realisation track for Naina. So I am guessing this friendship track may lead to that realisation. Naina realising how important Sameer is in her life. She might get a chance to realise her fears are unfound.

I want to remind one earlier scene where Naina is caught with love letter with Shanti teacher. Naina defended her love for Sameer being right so Naina does have that quality she just has to realise and over come her fear. Just my assumption.

I do agree with most of the points, but I don't think that naina is taking Sameer for granted.
She is under a lot of pressure from different sides, her family, her friends judgement (esp.mundit),and for a while, even from Sameer and his temporary gf shoe.
I did find it odd that she did not consider the Agarwal-maheshwari issue 3 years earlier,so I tried to dissect her actions as well as I could.
From the beginning, nainas unconditional Love at first sight was shown.at that time, she was smart enough to understand what her feelings were, and she was mostly content to admire him from afar.this shows us she had inhibitions being from a conservative family, and plus girls those days did not openly reveal their feelings or propose someone.during the bet phase,Sameer began to show open interest in her,and so Naina reciprocated, under the belief that Sameer liked her too.so we can tell that Naina reacts to situations, whereas Sameer creates them.this is because of difference in their upbringing.
When Sameer was trying to convince her for the movie,he had to make up a sob story about his relationship with his mother, and it was only after that that Naina agreed.
I'm not endorsing her breakup decision, but it fits with her character that she takes decisions as per the situation.when she felt that her father might commit suicide, she accepted her fate, and decided to let Sam go.personally,I don't feel Rakesh will ever commit suicide due to anything done by Naina,he doesn't care that much for her,but she still craves his approval.
She hasn't stopped loving him, she's just accepted that he cannot be part of her life anymore.
Sameer has understood that she hasn't given up on him, just on their love.this is precisely why she still wants to have his friendship,if not his love.
Sameer has always been confident of his abilities,so even if he has agreed for friendship,he knows he can convince her to believe in their love again.

Hi,Good to see you back😊.As usual very well written post.

Unlike a lot of previous scenarios(where I have agreed and disagreed in parts to your posts)I completely agree with you on this post 😊.It is extremely irritating to me too that Naina is calling all the shots here. She talks of her being in the situation of "baith ja baith gayi, ghoom ja ghoom gayi",but hey, isn't she doing the same to Sameer? With him it is

Pyar karo,kar liya
Chod do,chod diya
Dost bano,ban gaya😡

How ludicrous and insensitive is that?I agree with you when you say that the characters of both Naina and Sameer are getting extremely unrealistic and unrelatable.Sameer is waay too virtuous, sweet and forgiving for his own good. And Naina(who was once sweet and empathetic) is now coming across as really selfish and even mildly manipulative. Her character needs a redemption track,PRONTO.Otherwise, this becomes the culmination of the love story of Sameer with the arranged marriage of Naina(If Naina accepts Sameer only after Chachaji consent,it becomes like a near arranged marriage right?).

I find two things to be very far fetched.
1)Sameer proposing to Naina,Again(Really?)
2) Sameer accepting her friendship so happily jaise doobte ko tinke ka sahara

I cannot digest Sameer proposing to her again(unless a redemption track comes in before that)..I cannot, for the life of me,understand any boy(or girl) who has been dumped unceremoniously and unreasonably going and proposing to the same girl all over again.Even animals learn their lessons faster.

As I had already mentioned in another post, the relationship of Naina and Sameer is very unique(and therefore unrealistic).Naina asks Sameer to be her friend and Sameer (instead of feeling wronged and used) agrees to her proposal with tremendous happiness.WHO DOES THAT?That makes Sameer a Martian,I guess😲.(coz he is definitely not a human being from earth). My problem was not even that he agreed to be her friend. My problem was that he didn't feel wronged or used.In fact,he jumped at the idea and seemed elated at the prospect of friendship with the girl who dumped him hardly two months back(Sammer baba, please get yourself tested for partial Amnesia. You have strong symptoms).

In a more normal and realistic scenario,if the likes of Naina have any empathy and self conscience left, they should stay away from their Sameers. Having dumped him out of the blue one fine morning ,the least she can do is to stay away from him FOREVER.This will help him really move on and get over her(hopefully).By asking him to be her friend she is opening him up for more emotional torture.Every moment he spends with her ,he will relive all the years of their love. But wait,he is just a friend. So he shouldn't bring up these emotions!!!But,being a normal human being he will start harbouring hopes of being with her again and getting married to her.But this time he cannot tell her that he has these hopes, because she has friendzoned him. His broken and barely mended heart will shatter all over again, but he cannot tell her because she has friendzoned him. Just like last time, she will not be there to pick up the broken pieces of his heart, but he can't tell Naina because she has friendzoned him.Friendship Zindabaad😕 😆.

I thought Naina left Sameer for his own good.I thought she didn't want to give him false hopes and hurt him .But isn't she doing EXACTLY the same thing now,all over again,in the garb of a friend. In fact, this time,it is worse. She will raise his hopes and shatter them and walk away and he dare not complain .This completely absolves her of any moral responsibility for his feelings, whatsoever. Now what happened to her oh so virtuous idea of dumping him for his own good. How come that idea suddenly vanished out of the window and a new and convenient logic for friendship took its place? And if this logic of friendship is so great, why didn't she offer it earlier to him?Instead of dumping him earlier, she could have offered to be his friend, right? Why didn't she?Answer:Because at that time she was not prepared for friendship. She would have found it difficult to be friends with him.But now,she has moved on much faster and is more stable than him.And she suddenly realised that she would never find a FRIEND like Sameer. A 100 Swatis and Hemas do not equal 1 Sameer. So she offered to be his friend. In a nutshell, his friendship didn't suit her then,so she dumped him.His friendship suits her now,so she extended a hand of friendship.Disgusting...

But wait a minute, this is in real life scenarios. In our fairy tale, our hero is
Prince charming and Mother Teresa rolled into one and our heroine is a cross between Cindrella and Sati Savitri. And realism,Please fly out of the window. You have no place here😆😆..Let us continue watching our fairy tale in peace😊😆
