The UNREALISTIC Case of SAMEER

Hi there, I wrote this post in response to the new spoiler where Sameer proposes to Naina.

This spoiler might be a dream. But is it is not a dream sequence then we have some points to analyze.
  • In the spoiler, Sameer proposes to Naina with flowers falling on her.
  • In another spoiler before that - Naina broke the marriage with Sharad as he heavily insulted Anand which is something she cannot tolerate. She also promises Taiji that whenever she marries she will marry as per the wish of Taiji.
My points are based on the above two information.

Naina still does not seem to buzz from her stand. Her marriage to Sharad might have been stopped, but what is the guarantee that she wouldn't repeat the whole thing again.

I agree that Sam has been extremely chivalrous in:

1. Letting go of the extreme frustration, anger, and hurt he received because of Naina's unilateral self-concerning decision. With no fault of his, he let go of the anger and hurt for Naina's happiness.

2. In spite of being dumped smackdown by Naina, Sameer still protected her dignity and in a way restored the marriage alliance by clearing the doubts from Sharad's Mom's mind.
(Please note the marriage broke only when, Sharad insulted Anand, and this is something Naina cannot tolerate. Everything else she can including a betrayed and hurt Sameer)

3. For Naina's happiness, Sameer agreed to be her friend. (Only Friend!) That's what Naina expects from him! It's very difficult for Sameer as he is clearly struggling to do so. But he is doing it anyway as it will make Naina relaxed and help her transition into her possible marriage to Sharad. And Sameer is also there as a standby to help her any time she asks for help. I am not at all counting Naina promising to help Sameer in education! That's a lie as she herself won't be allowed to study post marriage with Sharad! Forget teaching another boy/man!

So, it again becomes all Sameer & Sameer doing all now and also in standby for future use.

Naina look like she has completely taken for granted all that Sameer does for her and will do for her in future. It is somewhat like having a genie who always does what you say but you are under no obligation to do what the genie says.

Here Sameer has become that genie.

Naina wants love, then Sameer lets fall in Love!

Naina wants break up, then Sameer give me breakup and move away!

Naina wants friendship (before she marries Sharad), Sameer lets be friends!

Girls! This kind of boys (or girls when situation us reversed) exist only in stories! Fictional Stories! If we take this show just as a fiction, then I am fine with seeing Sameer as the ultimate all giving/sacrificing boyfriend and also an ex-boyfriend.

However, don't we all feel proud that this show is realistic? Then the portrayal of Sameer is going out of the realism. He can be a lover boy but he is also not a fool to be fooled multiple times over. And that is what it seems to be projected.

The Sameer's second proposal will be valid only when the writers show that Naina is also now equally clear and determined that She loves Sameer and She will marry Sameer irrespective who says or feels what. At least she should realize and be determined for that. At least she should be ready mentally to fight for it.

Otherwise, it will again be the same story again and again - Naina letting go Sameer for his good!

N.B: There are hints that She will accept Sameer only after the approval of Chachaji. I do not know but its irritating to the core. It is being hammered that the validity of Sameer depends completely on what Naina and her family decide.

Sameer cannot be so dumb to not to realize that (If we consider this show to be realistic). Sameer might shower every possible way to show Naina that he can and will do anything to make her happy (even be her JUST FRIEND!). But still, Naina needs Anand's Permission to ACCEPT SAMEER! Seriously! What if after college Anand says - "Naina Leave Sameer! There is a much better-educated boy as marriage allegiance!'

Writers have completely hogwashed the character of Naina. I assume they were trying to portray her as the oppressed. But more than oppressed she is appearing to be the ultimate psychic who keeps hurting the person who she knows loves and respects her the most in this world.

Would be nice to know what you all feel !

(This post is just to express what is my current view on the track progress. I do not intent to hurt anyone's views and preference)

Good post I completely agree to whatever u mentioned . Naina's character has been butchered to such an extent that a redemption track for her is strongly needed just like we had for Sameer post bet phase... Somewhere Naina has taken Sameer and his love for her as granted and this is something which is not acceptable ... Jab uska mn kare pyar karo jab mn kare breakup ab uska mn dosti ka hai toh dosti karo ... Sameer toh uska puppet hogya ... Thats something which doesnt go with the idea of love story which we had from the beginning . Naina needs to understand whatever she did was totally wrong . If Sameer is ready to do anything for her happiness toh uska bhi kuch toh farz bnta hai for Sameer ... In real world I seriously dont think ppl like Sameer Maheshwari even exists no body can be so sacrificial by nature ... Yesterdays episode that frdship drama was something which I didnt understand being just friends after such a deep relation was something which never happened back in 90s samaina scene tha toh cute tha but there was no logic behind it ... I felt betrayed as a viewer coz we had been debating from nearly 1 month who is right and who is wrong being divided in teams of sameer vs naina and here these two ppl patched up as friends as if nothing happened between them all the hurt all the emotions whatever they showed till now was waste just like the ghanta ghanti patch up ... I m actually disappointed with yesterday epi from the way the story is progressing. ... Rest its just a fiction show so zyada expect krna bhi sahi nai ...but seriously thoda aur logical hota toh acha tha

I don't agree to it completely..
Yes Naina did wrong by taking decision to break up without taking Sameer's view on it. Also the way she turned a blind eye to his suffering was not correct.

But saying that she is hurting Sameer on purpose is wrong. It is quite realistic to have such family pressure on girls in 90s. Most of the live stories ended because when the girl gave in to family pressure, the boy took it on their ego instead of understanding the pressure the girl is in and supporting her to overcome this. Only the people who were able to rise above their ego for their love are still together.

Agree or not, like it or not but that's the harsh reality of 90s that girls had the sole responsibility of protecting families reputation. Society was too intolerant to a females mistake, be it a daughter or daughter in law.
The pressure a girl had was way too much as compared to boys..

Coming to Naina, its not Anand's permission to accept Sameer but Anand's acceptance to permit herself to be with Sameer. She has already accepted Sameer but now she is not permitting herself to be with the one she has accepted whole heartedly.

She is not forcing Sameer to be friends again. She just said what she wanted and gave him a proper reasoning for it. The decision was Sameer's to accept it or not..

Yes boys like Sameer are rare who can think above their ego, specially in 90s. Hence the successful love stories of 90s are rare too where the couple could get married with family's permission..

But yes I agree, that Sameer's proposal spoiler in this situation is not making any sense. But I would wait for the episode to air before commenting on it.

My view nothing to demean anyone else POV. We can agree to disagree on this and coexist in the forum in peace.

Hi Priya,

Thanks for commenting.

Absolutely we all can agree to disagree.

What I was trying to signify is that Naina has completely taken the love of Sameer for granted. I know the hurdles girls face not only in the 90s but also today.

That is why I said - the writers wanted to project the oppression of Naina. (and how family stops the lovers) But the execution is making Naina appear as someone extremely matter of fact.

She let go of Sameer. Sameer dealt with that by despair and then ego. But eventually, he let go of all his ego/hurt and swallowed the bitter pill of being Just Friend! to Naina. Why? So that Naina can smoothly sail to her marriage with Sharad to a new chapter!

That's all fine! But it does make Naina look like she has completely taken for granted all that Sameer does for her and will do for her in future. It is somewhat like having a genie who always does what you say but you are under no obligation to do what the genie says.

Here Sameer has become that genie.

If the writers do not show or skip the realization of Naina that she needs to at least make up her mind to stand by Sameer whenever the time comes, then Sameer proposing her again creates confusion.

Because your logical mind would tell you that Sameer might again be taken for a royal snub. As I said what if Anand for any reason says one day " Naina! In my opinion, you and Sameer are not a good match to each other in the long run" In the normal course, Naina would take maximum a day to ditch Sameer again and say that it's for his good!

Hence, it is necessary that the writer's show the change in the thinking of Naina where she realizes that when the time comes, she will be ready to take on her family to be with Sameer. It would take time to build the courage.

But at least her way of thinking should be on the correct path. It should not still be in the mode of bailing out the moment someone in her family shows even a tiny bit of resistance.

I agree completely
But we have also kept in this mind this type if boys do exist in the world especially in 90s but nainas character has been butchered to extent I can't even think of to say anything to her ..coming back to Sam he is surely not a fool or blind but we have to keep in mind that Naina is Sam's everything a boy who deprived of family ND love he has found everything in Naina here Naina should be credited for making Sam totally dependent n her which I surely hate

Dont Naina have the psychic streak earlier I mean till atart for Naina it was Mera pyaar Mera heartbreak Mera dukh Mera dard bla bla I vmcant forget how she used to treat Swati ND Preeti during her intial crush phase

For Sam it was humara but fir Naina sadly it was Mera Meri family Meri family ki izzat

Honestly Naina is very lucky to have people around her always forget her mistakes ...but in reality it dies not happen

People saying no body force Sam to he freind again really Then what Naina was saying with all tears which is not less than any emotional blackmail

Naina has taken Sam for granted
What if Sharad was a good guy ND she would have definitely married him 😕

Seriously I am at loss of word

I think the let's be friends track is being introduced by the CVs to bring back the story to a point from where they can again move it forward at a love story.
In the current state till the episode where Naina proposed being just friends it had come to a point where it felt extremely hard to salvage. Naina has committed herself to another person... for whatever reasons.. and is ok to proceed with it. Sameer has proclaimed his love and is romancing Sunaina.. Both have choosen to move on and away from each other. They do not interact.

Now just showing either of them breaking up and them coming back to each other is not possible, as the other is still committed to someone else. Both have to breakup. But just both getting rid of their respective partners (temp hi Sahi!) still brings us just back to that same place that they were before Naina's engagement.. they would still not be talking.. so something had to change to open the lines of communication and hence the Let's-be-friends.

As they are already friends now before both break off their respective relationships.. they can easily continue beings friends after and keep interacting. And then the CVs will find ways to introduce romance and redemption.

This is my take on the reason for this track.

Hope they handle Naina's redemption really well. I don't think the audience will be able to digest a half-baked track with real growth of her character.
