Celebs are idolized for their talent and nothing else. There is no math here which could tell you if SRK was idolized as a super hero.. his son could follow him in his foot-steps and be idolized.. but there is another reason to idolize someone... there is an intrinsic need to idolize without which there is something missing.. For Eg.. when SRK came into movies AB was on his decline..there was a big hole there a whole generation of folks wanted to know who could be "their" super-star. Imagine not to have a super-star!! SRK had nothing in him (x-factor) to make him a super-star unlike AB yet people idolized him purely for sake of idolization! He cant act, his dialog delivery is not quite convincing. His features are not charming.. I meaning... SRKs idolization would remain a mystery for good! Contrast this wil AB - his baritone voice.. his firm convincing dialog delivery, his ability to emote intensely.. I mean I just think there are only 3 "real" super stars - AB, RK, DK...

simple.😛 It is because in the zillions of alternate universes they are the ones who for whatever reason made it in this configuration of a universe. It is their image that gets beamed into our homes, tv sets, computers, mobile devices, cinema halls. It is their spinning electrons that have made it everywhere. They can be freaks and totally undeserving. What matters is that the universe conspired to make them successful. 😃 Universe does not do that to everyone. 😛Now call it a freak show or an accident of nature, thats something to marvel at.

is the highlighted cause of the fame or effect of their fame?

Its very hard to accept the reasoning yes universe conspired possibly but their fame has reason.. for eg.. beatles are still good to listen to or for that matter old hindi songs.. its not hard to figure out why dev anand dilip kumar, AB, RK and RK were popular.. what beats me is why are SRK and ranbir kapoor popular!! and there are several others like that.. its like some folks have popularity thrust upon them.. just cause a generation of 18 year old want someone to be their icon!

good question. I think fame is often about being in the right place at the right time. For every AB, there is a mediocre talent like SRK who the universe had to have conspired to make successful. One keeps seeing SRK in all the snow-clad swiss mountains galavanting around with chiffon-clad damsels, and the guy is magically transformed into a star. Thats the power of cinema making the man, nothing else. AB, too, for all his great talent and baritone, looks like AB the star because he is presented well... Its hard to escape the conclusion that fame makes someone look like a star, or more of a star... Its like a good painting. Its hard to appreciate it if its lying around in the attic with no one to see.😊

AB is a thespian and not a freak of nature.. but i think it is more that every bunch of semi generation wants a AB for themselves and they pick someone and put them on pedestal.. apparently for no reason.. so Ranbir kapoor or ranveer singh...etc are hyped to be exceptional.. etc.. this makes the fans shallow and these guys useless... !!

true about AB... but even he would have been just a radio jockey if someone had not taken the risk of casting him in Anand? From what i read, AB was a failing actor till the time he was paired up against Rajesh Khanna. Being in the same frame as the more popular (at that time) RK gave him credibility and recognition. So once again, he became a celeb because his image was beamed along with RK's.

While that may be partly true about AB , any explanation about Salman Khans fandom! It seems the audience could lap up anything that gets beamed across! Thats enough proof of influence that the movies have . Jo dikhta hai wohi bikta hai. 😆

Ok I am not talking about fate alone. If you remember AB was not even noticed in Anand. RK overshadowed him totally. He was in Bombay to Goa and did ok. But anything authentic will find its way to stand out. Thats what happened in Namak haram - 5 minute scene where RK could have seen his decline. and then everything followed. Two folks who had power packed careers were RK and Neetu Singh. Neetu singh started as an heroine at 16 and retired at 21 at the top!!!

I am not denying the hand of fate in success. All I am saying is fate shouldnt be the only critieria. There should be more substane than hype...You could clearly divide the bolywoood heroes into two halves. ne has Bacchan, Dilip kumar, Sanjeev kumar... etc and the other has SRK, sallu, saif... etc etc.. and then you will know why the difference...

its rare that talent can override fate/ the whims of the Gods. :) I suppose AB and Sanjeev Kumar have been those rare individuals.
but i still maintain that without media/ marketing, its hard for someone to become a big celeb no matter how good they are. On the other hand, one can become successful just on the back of good mkting/ packaging. The lousy actors you have in the second list like SRK, Sallu and Saif just prove this point. One can be forgiven for believing they have some talent just because they are seen everywhere.😆

Everyone should be 'idolized" because we all are unique and can inspire someone. The thing is that stars get media attraction, hence people can relate to them, but they could relate to their neighbor as well if they knew about them
