Aishwarya's mom may move in with her

Buzz is that both Abhishek and Aishwarya are worried about her mother living alone in the building that recently caught fire.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

A fire broke out in La Mer, a high-rise building in Mumbai, on Tuesday. One of the most well-known names residing in the posh building is Brinda Rai, mother of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

The house has been Aishwarya's parents' home for close to 20 years, where even the actress spent much of her early ears, till she got married to Abhishek Bachchan. However, after the fire, the question of Brinda's safety looms large.

A source close to Aishwarya says, "Both Abhishek and Aishwarya are worried about her mother being alone in the La Mer residence after Brinda's husband passed away in March this year. They have been persuading her to come stay with them, so she could be close to her granddaughter Aaradhya. But Brinda has been so far avoiding all attempts at persuading her to change residence.

Apparently Ash and Abhi are adamant that they want Brinda to move in with them. According to a family member, "Aishwarya's mom's resistance to the idea of changing residences is finally dissolving.

I think in today's world's parents are very hesitant in staying with their daughter after marriage if their daughter is staying with in-laws. I was literally just having this discussion with my family because we have a situation sort of similar to this. If Abhi-Aish were staying on their own then I'm sure Aish's mom would feel more comfortable. But when the daughter is staying with in-laws, I think parents don't feel right moving in with them.

I don't think it's true. She must have been living with Ash's brother and his family.

Also, I don't think Ash lives in a joint family anymore. The Bachchans own a couple of houses - I think Ash and Abhi moved out and live in another house so even if her mother moved in, she wouldn't have to live with Jaya.

woh zamana gaya...jab maa baap beti ke ghar nahi reh sakte the...why should girls be not responsible for their parents...Aish has a brother too...and if Aish's mom wants to live with her...that is her choice..

Doesn't she live with her anyway? I don't think she will officially move in. Bachchans and Rais are very traditional. She might move in with her son.

Aishwarya is a Bunt and in our caste, it is custom that the parents move in with their daughter in their old age, or after the death of one parent. If she's living with her in-laws they might have to adjust, although the house is large enough for everyone.

WOW...really??😲 👏 this is awesome...i hope that ur community sets an example before others...that the parents are just not the responsibility of the son only but both the son and daughter and both should take care of them in their old age.

^Don't most middle-class families do that anyway? My aunt lives with both her mother and husband's mother together. The two moms actually really like living together because they have a built-in friend now that their husbands have passed away.
