1. The Opening Game:
🥳
The St. Aloysius college in Mangalore. 🥳
The college is all prepped up for a week- long inter-college sports meet. Many colleges across the state have come in for various sports competition. The campus is filled with students in different sports outfits and team jerseys, bringing in a vibrant energy in everyone.
The Basketball arena is high in it's spirits with electrifying teams and audience filling the seating area. The indoor stadium is brightly lit giving no difference between day and night. On the court, amidst a lot of cheer, the ball is making it's way into the basket and a topview from audience seats, makes the ball look more dramatic than what it is😉.
Zoom in closer to the court and our eyes freeze on a girl in red jersey who is extremely upset.
With both her hands over her head she kneels down expressing her disappointed state that she let her opponent score the point.🥱
Girls team in blue jerseys are cheered by their fellow college mates for scoring points for the home ground.
The score points are leading for the opponent team and the stadium is roaring with cheers for the college who's hosting the event.😃👏
There comes an angry voice screaming loudly from outside the court
"Malavika, What are you even doing out there?"
The girl addressed as Malavika, in the court, lifts her head from her disappointed state, as she heard the angry voice charged at her.
Her face turns red both in anger and embarrassment😡
"That's a stupid game.. I can't believe this is happening" The voice continued to attack
Malavika drops her head down and shakes it in frustration. As we get closer to the angry voice, the shrill in it pierces through our ears.. All one can see is a pair of stretched out hands calling out for a Time-out in the game.
All girls in red jersey, including Malavika, walk towards the person...😉
They stand in a line facing their coach who is covered by them now.
"If you're not into it then better do something else.. Don't sit here and ruin it all" The tone of the voice is more rigid now.
The girls are just pale, looking at the ground not even daring enough to look at the face in front of them..
"Do you think you are playing your game out there?"
The hands are moving so swiftly and the voice is roaring into their ears, catching hold of every attention of the team in red..
"Radhika, were you giving up there?" Another attack to one of the team members
"But it's their college and the stadium is full of their students cheering for them" Radhika managed to say those words but only to be cut in
"It's idiotic to let the audience take over your game.."
Nobody opened their mouth next, because they know better of it to keep their mouth shut.
The lights flashed on the coach's face, brightening the already raging eyes. All one could gaze at is a pair of expressing eyes and moving lips...
Slowly the voice faded down and the stance changed as the shattered team in front is getting quieter and quiet.
"Ok.. Now come on my girls, roll up. Just do what you are best at" The voice is completely changed into a soft but assertive one.
The hands stretched out this time to put the palm in front of them..One by one the girls placed their palms over it. All of them placed both their palms over the others forming a pyramid. The coach threw a small smile at them and raised cheers splashing through the hands. One by one the hands waved through the air, putting their hands over the shoulders of each other forming a human head chain. All heads together facing the ground smiling, a sign for ringing in a cheerleader for themselves.
"Let's rock it" They all said in unison
Satya, the coach, didn't hold them back anymore.. She's a sensible and reasonable woman demanding what's due for her team. In a simple black track pants and cotton tee, hair tied in a high ponytail, with no ornaments on, she looked everything like a sportswoman fresh out of her work out... 😳
The girls in red charged towards the court with a new rage of passion. The commonality between them, the game and the craze for it, keeps them intact and keeps them going.👏
Together they put a different show than the previous one and this time around Satya's voice was not just roaring but screeching through the audience attention to the teams on court. It is an electrifying and extraordinary love for the ball that the girls showcased this time, only to increase their scores and reach the winners slab.👏👏
All throughout the win, Satya is very involved in each and every move of her girls. Not even a single moment skipped from her attention span. Finally she let a sigh of relief when her girls win the game.
The girls in red jump and squeal in joy clapping and hugging each other. Running towards their dear angry coach.
"Oh finally.. the boring serial is over" Satya said😆
"Oh come on Sattam"
The girls' call Satya as "Sattam", a name formed shrinking their fast forward "Satya Ma'm". It also suited her noisy take and strict abide by rules traits in coaching.. 😉
"You should've been in my place. That's a long match and it's like I'm sitting here since yesterday"😆
"Uffo give us a break.. " Malavika said in an irritated voice
"An easy game to have won long back. You girls dragged it unnecessarily. And Malavika, we need to talk"
Malavika knows it better when she's been addressed like that.. If it's not "Malvi" from Satya, then Satya's not the person she would want to meet face-to-face.. It shows her foul mood.. Malavika has known that much about her coach, in the past 9 months. Malavika has been coaching under Satya since her 1st year of Business administration Program at Mount Carmel College, Bangalore. This is an important milestone for them as a team to show their best in the game. 😉
