3. The Real Game
Late in the evening, in the classroom
Satya is no mood to get up from her makeshift bed😉. Something about the coach guy was bothering her.😆
'Why was he not with his team while they were playing? Not that the team had good potential but still as a moral boost isn't he bound to be there for them? And he seems to be smart enough to twist the game with the nitty-gritty of the sport. Only a pro can do that. Is he really that lazy that he doesn't bother about his sport? And just doing it as a day job? I'm literally pissed off if people waste their talent like this'
Too much going on in Satya's mind and she's trying hard to ignore everything that happened in the morning.😉
"Sattam, we are gonna watch the game. You not joining?" Radhika asks
"Hmmm"
"Ok then let's go" Malvi jumps in with clear enthusiasm
"What? Where?" Satya's confused look confuses the girls
"Arrey what's wrong with you? It's our boys' match" Malvi waves her hand in front of Satya🤣
"Oh ok.. I'll skip it"
"Is that really you?" Malvi looks deeply into Satya's eyes. Satya never misses a chance to be there for her teams. Because of the love for her students and more for the sport.😉
"No, there is a ghost inside me" Satya jokes😆
Outside the game, Satya is a very different person. Fun loving and mingles with her students in friendly ways, understands them like no other. And she strongly believes in doing what one loves passionately and not just for the sake of it.😳
"Alright, we will keep you updated on the scores" The girls' head towards the stadium
Abhishek is warming up his students near the court. He is the coach for the boys' team in Mt. Carmel. More than the game he likes the job for one other reason and that is Satya. Almost everyone in the college knows it, including Satya but she doesn't heed to his needs much. She just treats him like a good colleague. And he knows it too and like a good man he stays within limits. Just hoping for Satya to reciprocate his feelings some day.😉
"Where's Satya?" He asks the girls
"She's resting in the room"
"Is she alright?" Abhishek calls her immediately
"Whom are we playing against?" Malvi asks the boys
"You won't believe it.. Christ college boys.."
Malavika bursts into laughter.
"Then it's fun time for us. Relax boys, you gonna rock"
"Just close your eyes and play the game" Another girl adds
"Have you forgotten their sleepy coach and his weird game plan?" One of boys reminds
"Yeah.. He's one slumberboy.. He would be in his evening party.. And in the morning, hangover" All of them laugh and have fun at the cost of their new found amusement
And speak of the devil, the devil's there. Prasanna walks in. The Carmel girls' watch him agape. He looks very smart in his fresh track suit. Cleanly shaved and trimmed moustache , his fresh look is very captivating. Almost every girl is drooling over him and he seems to be not bothered about anything.😎
"Is he the same one?" Radhika wonders
"Must be his twin brother"😆
"Anyway, this must be a new avatar of our drama King" Malvi says loudly so that Prasanna hears it
He smiles and turns to look at her
"You better control your own tantrum too, little girl" He says and looks around
"Too bad your mommy is not around to pacify you"😆
Is he expecting to see her around? He ignores his own curiosity and hopes nobody noticed it.😳
"Booommm" A grown up boy with a monkey mask jumps behind Prasanna. Scaring Malavika too who is standing next to him
"You scared the baby girl" Prasanna says to the monkey mask
"I'm not a baby girl" Malvi goes defensive
"Ok baby bear" The monkey mask says😆
"Hey you monkey man. Behave yourself."
"Don't know why this college allows entry to monkeys" She murmurs and walks off
Prasanna and the monkey oops monkey mask laughs and shrugs off
The match between Carmel and Christ boys begins. The stadium is slowly filling up. Malvi settles down in a good place to get a proper view of the court. She sees Prasanna all active in a different form than what she saw in the morning.
Christ boys' team starts with their own way of cheers. Forming a circle holding each others hands and jumping up in the air all at a time. From afar it looks like kids jumping on a trampoline only that these boys do it so effortlessly on the plain ground. And there is Prasanna along with the boys jumping up energetically. And he looks like a super man with super energy.. 🥳
Abhishek is already nervous and is trying his best to keep his cool intact. Carmel boys are wondering what are they upto. They are good players and with practice have acquired the nuances of the game. They play a very decent game in majority of their matches. No doubt about their skill. But Abhishek is more doubtful about his own skills.😆
The game begins amidst a huge applause. One player from either team come forward and stand at the center court. Malvi sees the handsome tall boy in green standing all alert to get the ball. She's waiting to hoot for Karthik, her collegemate, but her eyes are fixed on the opponent. 😉
The referee tosses the ball up between the two boys. All Malvi could hear is "Vinnie, Vinnie, Vinnie" from the nearby seats where she sees the Christ girls are sitting. Looks like the handsome tallboy is Vinnie. He swiftly gets his hands on the ball, tips it to his teammate. That's a perfect tip-off. Unknowingly Malvi's hands clapped. She forgets what she's supposed to do there and instead starts cheering for the game not her team. 👏
The Vinnie boy not only took charge of the offense, he beat every trial of his opponents in keeping the defense. The moment the ball is in the opponents' hands, he rages like an animal stealing the ball in every possible ways showing his wonderful control over the game. 🥳
In all this it's Prasanna who is beautifully dictating knowing the plus and minus of his boys, communicating in their own code words. He's fully there watching and knowing every trick of his students. Abhishek is lost in their strategy leaving no choices for the Carmel boys. They are trying hard from their side too, to defend, trying to steal and deflect the ball.
Malvi picks her phone and messages Satya "Sattam, you should come and watch this game"
Satya is already halfway through the stadium when she receives Malvi's message. She has been receiving the scores before that and decided to take a look at the game. And also because she got to know the opponent team is from Christ college.. 😉
When she reaches the court, the score is 11:0. And she walks straight towards Abhishek while her eyes fall on the sportively groomed Prasanna. His attention is all on his boys with no concern for anything else. She couldn't help but feel happy to see the same passion like hers in him at least for the boys.
'So, You are not the lazy boy' She thinks to herself
"Darling, Thank God you are here.. Look at them" Abhishek is half mad already
"Come on Abhishek, we know our boys. They can do better"
"Yeah you are right. But they aren't."
"Let's see what we can do" Satya is still watching the game and studying the opponent team, while talking to Abhishek.
Her attention falls on the Vinnie boy and she's amused with his performance
"Karthik, there he is. He's your trap. Go for him" Satya instructs and that's when Prasanna turns to look at her and she shares her look with him. This time there is no anger and no annoyance. It's just a plain look sharex between each other. 😊
They both turn back to their boys and get involved in their games. The next few minutes, moving with lots of action on the court. Quick time outs, changing substitutes, defining strategies, enormous pressure, the game saw an action packed performance from both the teams.👏
With so much of energy around, the audience is completely confused in predicting the winners. A neck-to-neck game finally ended with the Christ college boys winning it. As much as the winning of Christ boys was classy, the losing of Carmel boys was dignified as well. Both the team cherished the game and congratulated each other for a wonderful time.👏
"You were all wonderful boys" Satya expresses genuinely to her team
"Thank you, Ma'm. Thanks for your wonderful support" The Carmel boys share hearty smiles with their coaches. The girls join them too and share happy cheers for putting up a good fight in the game.
Malvi is jumping in joy
"I can't believe it guys. I've never seen such a game anytime"
Satya walks towards the Christ boys. Goes near the Vinnie boy and taps his shoulder. Malvi joins her too. Vinnie turns and gives his charming smile at the lovely girls.
"You totally rocked it" Satya says
"Oh thanks a lot. That's very sweet of you" He acknowledges the compliments very sweetly.
"Yes, you did good.. But our boys weren't any less. They gave a tough competition" Malvi defends
"Yes sure they did, baby bear" He winks
"You, you you.. monkey man?" Malvi asks angrily
"Yes, it's me, me, me, baby bear"😉
"Don't you dare call me that"😡
"Vinnie, Vinnie, Vinnie"
Poornima and her team on tow have come with a plan to entertain Vinod
"Look what we've got for you, Vinnie" Poornima says in a husky voice grabbing Vinod's attention to herself
The girls start dancing like cheerleaders with some props. And this time she had the attention of the entire crowd in the stadium. And that's what she loves - Being in the limelight.. And Vinod is also a prop for her to get that. Because he's talented, sensible, composed, very sportive.. And lot more of his great qualities make him the most wanted guy in their college... And being Prasanna's favorite student is an added advantage. Getting into the good books of the angry young coach isn't something that happens every now and then.
Malvi grabs Satya's hands to take her away from there..
"Vinnieee.. Monkieee... Come on Sattam, let's go.. They are too proud of themselves"
"Malvi, they just won the game.. It's sure celebration time for them"
"You wanna celebrate too.. Ok go join them." Malvi leaves Satya's hand angrily and about to leave
"Oh my angry bird.. Yes I want to celebrate too.. And I'll celebrate crazy tomorrow after your grand win"
Malvi smiles at her and runs back to her to hug her.😃
Prasanna watches the moment of emotion sharing between the girls. Satya notices him too. Without a word they communicate something even not knowing to themselves.😳
