7. The breaking dawn game
Satya and Prasanna sitting next to each other in the big basketball court, filling these with the silence of the night.
Their story slowly settles down in each other's minds and hearts, leaving both of them full and empty.. They stay like that without saying more words, for quite sometime.. As if to say that they understand their silence as much as they understood their words.
Satya looks at his hand holding hers. Her feelings are so overwhelming that she doesn't know how to react. She is all smiling contently inside with a blank expression outside. Prasanna must have noticed this, because he suddenly takes off his hand with a jerk. Immediately he feels something missing and she misses the warmth that his hand brought to hers.
"It's gonna be a long night" He sighs
"Don't you wanna sleep?" She asks
"Do you?" He counters her question
'I want this night to go on forever' She says in her mind
"You can never answer a question without another question. Can you?" She laughs lightly
"Should I?" He laughs innocently
She joins him in his laughter.😃
However long their night was the darkest hour just passes, the dawn breaking through it. A thin ray of light passes through the window, showing its strength through the darkness. Satya gets up, walks towards the window and stands there looking outside. The power goes off and the stadium is again filled with darkness but this time with a different light to it.
"I think we should leave now" She says
She could see him get up from his place, and from his body outline it looks like he's not very happy about it. He walks towards her and as he closes down the distance, she could see his face in the dim light. He too is looking at her face outline being glorified in the little light that starts the day.
"Good dawn"
"Dawn to you too"😃
"How often do we get to wish this to anyone" She winks at him casually
He thinks to himself 'I can get used to it, if this is the scene in front of me, all throughout my life'. The moment the thought completed he shakes his head resisting his own thoughts.
"Looks like you talk a lot in your mind. Am I right?."
"Did you read something?" He questions again
"I think I should get trained to read minds"
"Everyone's or just mine?" He takes over the wink this time😉
She signs as if not saying a word more. Both smile and walk out of the stadium. It appears that they are used to the darkness inside the stadium so much that the lightest ray of light looks too bright now. But the feeling to have it fall on them is wonderful. The campus looks beautiful with the sky seen through the gaps in between the tall trees. They see the trees lined up side by side, all in a row with a pathway in between with the rays of light hitting one by one on the ground. They both look at each other as if an idea struck.
They nod their heads together and say
"Get, set, go"😉
They run like wild kids through the rays of light. As they run, the rays cut through them and they run past it taking them along with them. By the time they reach the classrooms block, they are out of breath.😆
"We are crazy" Both say in unison😳
She reaches for the water can kept on the corridor of the block. She drinks a glass full without bothering about the water spilling over her mouth sideways and dripping down her throat wetting her tops. For some reason that moment appeals to Prasanna and it feels sensual to him. He stares at her wet lips and trying hard to take his eyes off. To top it all, she wipes it with her tongue, making it even more torturous for him to ignore. She offers the glass to him and he grabs it as if has been waiting just for that. Thankfully she doesn't notice his little scandalous act.😆
"We gotta get on our way back home" She says
"Home?"
"Yeah, remember we are done with our sports meet here and no more dinner party?" She pulls his legs
"Oh that.. yes we will be back to homes"
"So, this is it.. good-bye time"
"It's time to say good day.."
"Yes.. Have a good day too.. And good bye"
"I heard that they have a good breakfast menu. We should try that"
It appears to her that he's avoiding the good-bye word. And she decides to go with the flow
"Sure.. We should get a takeaway pack too for the travel back home" She walks off very well knowing that he's watching her from her behind. If only eyes could shoot.
Going back to their rooms neither could stop themselves from rewinding and playing their late and long night magical moments. The back story fades away leaving only the emotional connect fresh in their minds.😉
"Sattam, were you out for your morning jog?" Malvi asks
"Hmmm.. hu hmmm.."
"I wantex to join you today but you had left when I woke up" She complains
"Hmmm.. hu hmmm.."
"Now come let's go again"
"Hmmm.. hu hmmm.."
"Hmmm.. hu hmmm.." Malvi now knows that Satya is not listening to even a single word that she's saying
"Hmmm.. hu hmmm.."😆
"Hmmm.. hu hmmm.."
"Hmmm.. hu hmmm.."😆
"What's that humming? Which song is that?" Radhika wants to join them too
"Hmmm.. hu hmmm.." This is Satya😆
"Hmmm.. hu hmmm.." Malvi
"Hmmm.. hu hmmm.." Radhika
"Hmmm.. hu hmmm.." One by one the girls join them and in minutes they are all creating a new song on their own without any words😳
Satya realizes what's going on but gets along with the flow with the girls. She needs to let her loose and enjoy the moment. After all it's not that everyday she finds someone special. It calls for a celebration and she is thankful for being amidst the young lot to celebrate it and she's enjoying it as a secret pleasure exclusively meant for own.
The girls sing and dance forming their own band. Their enthusiastic noise reach the nearby rooms and everyone join to make their good morning a big one. Everyone is happy for making some good wins, collecting trophies and medals for their portfolios, and good lot of memories and friends for lifetime.🥳
Malvi and Satya don't realize that their big lifetime change is starting from here. From the very soil of Mangalore all the way to Bangalore.😳
Prasanna walks into his room and Vinod is looking at him in a shock. Because Prasanna is whistling a happy song tune and he looks very fresh and childlike.
"Baava, do you whistle without a whistle baava?"
"Phew phewww..." He asks whistling😆
"Are you OK? How come you are up early without any match lined up?" Vinod is still trying hard to get over shock after shock
"Phewwwiiingg phewww" Prasanna continues his answer in whistle and action only that Vinod couldn't understand anything
"Ok.. May be you are homesick already and want to go home. Come let's go, Baava"
"Phaaa phewww"😆
"What? Why are we eating here, Baava? We will eat something on our way back"
"Phuuuwww phewwwiiingg" Prasanna goes out taking his brush, soap and towel, heading towards the bathroom
"Did something hit him?" Vinod asks his friends who are equally clueless on what hit their Baava... And Vinod doesn't know what's gonna hit him too.. 😳
