Just a quick note, my dear Debastuti - I am clearing my arrears!

Chandra's friends, once they caught on the fact that he had been arrested, would have vamoosed and gone back to alert Chanakya.

But they didn't give us any hint about this. They should have to!🤔

As for the back up plan, one cannot provide, in such secret service missions, for every contingency. The agent is supposed to manage as best he can. What I wrote to Lavanya will do just as well for your query:

Look, kid, you are asking for too much. Chanakya made sure that Malayketu did not escape from the gurukul, make his way to Pataliputra and trip Chandragupta up. How on earth could he have provided for the bizarre decision of Raja Parvatak to personally land up in Pataliputra to apologise to Nand? No self-respecting king would have done that. He looked and sounded more like a chamcha of Nand's than anything else. It was just a bit of very bad luck and it floored poor Chandragupta.

You have not thought the situation thru either. Does Chanakya have an army of tried and trusted spies that he can set to shadow Parvathak on the odd chance of his taking it into his head to go to Pataliputra to tender his son's apologies? And then apparate into Pataliputra before Parvathak gets there to warn Chandragupta? Have a heart, my dear.He must be having only a handful of trusted acolytes, of whom Chandra is the best.

If you had watched the 1990 Chanakya, you would have realised with what infinite patience, effort, and untiring, relentless persuasion Chanakya built his coalition against, first the Macedonians left behind by Alexander, and then against the Indian allies of the Macedonians, beginning with Purushottam (aka Porus) - whose daughter, married to Ambhi of Takshashila, was a devotee of Chanakya's - and finally against Magadha. This narrative is like shorthand already, and here you are, wanting Chanakya to be, not one of the greatest strategic thinkers ever, but a ruddy magician!

I got a clear perception about it Aunty when I read this part. Didn't think this way while watching. Thanks for clearing this part...😳

As for the spirit gum, as Saraswathi Akka has suggested very cleverly, if he had retained Nandini's beard, there would have been plenty of spirit gum on it!

Hmmm!!Maybe! But was he carrying that while attending the sayamvar? 😆 Smart guy! 😉

My dear Jahnvi,

I really love to be your one and only Peddamma in this forum.

But I see that you are joining my chipmunk twosome of Sandhya and Khushi in pulling my poor leg, ya to about needing a dictionary for reading my posts, ya to about learning new facts! At this rate, I will soon have to hobble around, with one leg longer than the other, looking for all the world like that
Gollum lookalike, Amatya Shaktar!😆

I agree that Chandra should have retained at least one of the two swords used in the duel; I have said so in the post. But once he had in effect disarmed himself, how could he have resisted arrest? Fighting those soldiers would have been a losing battle, and he must already have been planning how to get out of the eventual prison.

But as for why he comes back to the palace, it is not for using Nandini as a shield. He leaves the prison while it is still dark, and restarts his interrupted reconnaissance of the palace. It is when one of the guards stops him that he has to run off, and he ends up in the anthahpura.

I have posted my take on the Friday episode and all that jungli billi stuff this afternoon. Take a look and see if those parts amuse you.

Well, the brahmin Acharyas like Amatya Rakshas were usually jyotishis as well, being well versed in astrology. So that did not surprise me. But he does look bizarre, like a Star Trek character. And it was not vishesh yug, my dear, but vishesh yog!

As for why Tun Tun is lying on her stomach, your guess is as good as mine! I think the director forgot about the baby being on the way!😆 She of course would have been focussing on the laddus, which were obviously real

Peddamma... title of this take is 🤣. For once, I thought its some sort of imitation of Nandini. Glad I learnt one new fact today.

I agree with all your review, though didn't quite understand why he surrendered to Nand's soldiers in first place or later return to palace to use Nandni as shield. Either times he could've got away with his superman jumps and somersaults he did as boy Chandra. I think amidst Chanakya's training he forgot his innate skills.. 😉

There are many disappointments to me in terms of cast, story, dialogues and execution ... you covered most of them peddamma but I couldn't help adding this. I heard Rakshas Amatya was as wise as Chanakya but the man in this show shatters that opinion of me. Till now, I haven't seen him speak or act anything wise. And if CVs have no intelligent dialogues for him, let him sit mute than degrade him to tarot-reader. His deep baritone would sound better talking of strategies than of prem or grhina or senseless pravachan on two-shadows-in-one-frame. More than tun-tun bhabhi laddo eating, I found his lecture on visesh yug more hilarious.

PS: Wasn't tun-tun bhabhi preggie? I thought she was🤔 but then why is she lying down on stomach?

Will catch up with u on next post peddamma... I'm already waiting for your take of the infamous graphic lizard, our-goonga-hero-dupatta-pulling and dimwit-heroine-slapping... till then cya... take care please..
🤗

My dear Tejaswini,

Of course I remember you, my dear, and very well too! How is your worse half, and are you still bullying him as much as ever? How are the little ones? When we were in the PR forum you were expecting an addition to the family, and I do not remember your having filled me in on anything after that.

Most folks here are like the professional mourners at a funeral, the rudaalis. They are always moaning and groaning and complaining, and yet they neither stop watching nor do they stop weeping all over the forum.

I am different. When I get to the point when the serial seems beyond recall, I quit. I do that with most serials in a matter of weeks, and in Jodha Akbar after about a year and 3 months. That is it.

I am flattered that you like my daily posts for CN, but I am going, wef this week, to be doing them only on Wednesdays and Saturdays. I have had rheumatoid arthritis for the last one year and it affects my right hand badly.

I hope to see you in my future threads so long as I continue to write them. Take care, my dear, and God bless.

Shyamala Aunty

Shyamala aunty hope you remember me? we used to be a part of the PR forum at kools di's corner oh so long back. its such a treat to read anything of yours in the forums. I was looking for a review to decide upon my viewership (i have learnt my lesson with PR im afraid, only watch till the story line does not start to go down the same bs route it always ends up in, having given up on its own concept). But seeing your commentary here, review enough. will watch and stick around the forum, for a daily dose of your commentary if not much else; it is a balaji show and bound to go the jodha akbar way at some point- nandini will always be 'right' despite of being at times intolerably petulant (from what i gather), like jodha was at times. and always self righteous like non other. and they will spend most of their times sorting out their domestic tiffs and dealing with historically unrecorded vishkanyas and dayans. my only solace is that durdhara...or in this case nandini i guess, dies young with bindusar being born, so they cant possibly drag it too long. but then again they may make this ttly fictional and have no basis in reality, in which case it will turn wine to vinegar in quick eventuality.

Subha dear,

I am afraid I do not agree with your take on Chandragupta and Chanakya at all. You would have seen that from my next post.

As for why he slaps him, I think it is partly nautanki, which is necessary in order to hide the truth from Malayaketu - you have got to be joking, my dear, for how on earth could Chanakya have accepted that Chandragupta had gone to Pataliputra on his instructions? - and partly a release of the horrendous tension he is labouring under even since he has learnt that Chandragupta's charade has been exposed.

I have also, in my next post, tried to defend Nandini on the question of her inaction.

I just watched the Friday's episode.

I didn't see ur analysis on that episode so I am giving it here.Once u write ur analysis in new topic, I will copy everything from here and paste it there.

Friday's episode was a filler episode.I found it really boring.

There was no need for those Chandra Nandini scenes. The strange part was there were 2 scenes where both of them were looking at each other with anger and hatred yet the background music was romantic one.🤣It's as if the director was telling the viewers,"Dekho Dekho,Chandra Nandini ek doosre ko ghoor rahe hain.😉Time for drooling!Chalo shuru ho jao."🤪🤣I found that scenes and background music really odd.🤣

Nandini is supposed to be a trained fighter but all she does to defend herself was Biting.🤣When Chandra stopped near the palace gate, I was thinking she will hit him so hard with her elbow that he will fall from the horse and the soldiers will capture him again. She had got enough time to do that.

Frankly speaking, there was no need for those scenes.

Avantika and Moora told the same things to Padmanand about karma and how his daughter is kidnapped by someone because he kidnapped many women like that. Those scenes and dialogues were repetitive. The only difference was Avantika said all these in pain, worry and anger whereas Moora was laughing and making fun and adding salt to the wounds while saying all these. After so many years,Moora was so happy.

Why was Chanakya pretending that he has nothing to do with Chandra going to Patliputra in front of Malayketu?I didn't like him slapping Chandra unnecessarily.

I feel the reason why in future Nandini will be more close to Chandra and understand him more than even Chanakya is because she will treat him like a human and not a puppet or machine unlike Chanakya. In future,Chandra can openly express himself only in front of Nandini and not Chanakya for whom he has feelings of only respect and nothing else.Chandra-Chanakya relationship is more formal. There are many Gurus who love, care and respect their pupils but I think Chanakya of this show is not like that.He is keeping Chandra only because he has that ability and ambition to dethrone Padmanand, become emperor and fulfill ABN mission.

I am so, so sorry, my dear Khalessi, for not having responded to three of your comments in a row. I promise, beginning with this one, to be regular as clockwork! As you would have seen from my next post, it had come to a point when I simply could not cope. I will also try hard to cover your earlier comments as well.

I am glad that your wisdom tooth removal went off well. My son had all his removed a few years ago, and he was zapped for nearly 3 days. Be careful for a while even if you feel all right.

My supplementary comments are in blue.

Hola, Shyamala aunty.

It's good to be back. The first part of my wisdom teeth removal surgery went succesful. Still with a little pain in my mouth but I've taken enough rest and following the doctor's instructions.
Now, coming to the episode, my takes are on brown.
