Peddamma... title of this take is 🤣. For once, I thought its some sort of imitation of Nandini. Glad I learnt one new fact today.

I agree with all your review, though didn't quite understand why he surrendered to Nand's soldiers in first place or later return to palace to use Nandni as shield. Either times he could've got away with his superman jumps and somersaults he did as boy Chandra. I think amidst Chanakya's training he forgot his innate skills.. 😉

There are many disappointments to me in terms of cast, story, dialogues and execution ... you covered most of them peddamma but I couldn't help adding this. I heard Rakshas Amatya was as wise as Chanakya but the man in this show shatters that opinion of me. Till now, I haven't seen him speak or act anything wise. And if CVs have no intelligent dialogues for him, let him sit mute than degrade him to tarot-reader. His deep baritone would sound better talking of strategies than of prem or grhina or senseless pravachan on two-shadows-in-one-frame. More than tun-tun bhabhi laddo eating, I found his lecture on visesh yug more hilarious.

PS: Wasn't tun-tun bhabhi preggie? I thought she was🤔 but then why is she lying down on stomach?

Will catch up with u on next post peddamma... I'm already waiting for your take of the infamous graphic lizard, our-goonga-hero-dupatta-pulling and dimwit-heroine-slapping... till then cya... take care please..

🤗

My very dear Saraswathi Akka,

I am so glad that you are now fully on board for this particular ride!

As for this post resembling my Jodha Akbar re-run posts, why do you think so?
I didn't "think", but I "felt"!
When I sit down to write a post, I almost never know how it is going to turn out, so I am not able to judge my posts either. I am just so relieved, every single time, to have them over and done with!😉

My comments in blue, as usual. I also see that Baby and Babloo are up and kicking, so I will get to them tomorrow.

Shyamala

PS: Your DP photo is very charming!
Shyamala, You might have guessed who it is!

Aunty you always keep talking about how there are occasions when a phenomenal actor rises above the script to produce marvelous bits here and there. Rajat's acting throughout the Swayamvar scene and even the Moora scene were fantastic. But all that sword fighting and subtle expressions during emotional expressions are par for the course when we take into account his brilliance as an actor. The tiny bit which actually blew my breath away was the way in which he sips water in chokes and gasps as he has still not fully recovered from the pain of the severe whipping he has received at the hands of Padmanand after he is arrested.

True, my dear, and very well observed. Also the way in which his voice wavers as he talks of his mother.

I did not touch on it as I omitted the whole scene of his with Mura bar the end. I was tired and was running very late.

Rajat has phenomenal control of three things: his eyes, his voice and his facial muscles. He can make them do whatever he wants. At times the whole body language as well.

In Jodha Akbar, there was a scene when he is desolate and undecided as to how to handle Jodha's supposed pregnancy. He comes back to his seat at the jashn, his face is as if it was carved in marble, but the Adam's apple moves up and down as he swallows desperately in an effort to gain control of himself. It was marvellous little snippet, and I made the others notice it!

Wonderful post aunty...
Nandini doesnt behave like rajkumari...since when they show princesses behave like princesses... They are always like this... There is never any mannerism, attiquates of royalties in any show ... Wether In Prc sanyogita, JA jodha ruqayya, MP phool kunwar ...
I dont know why they dont care about these old periodical details in period dramas ..

Arresting and throwing in open jail with old prisoners was just to meet n greet btw moora and chandar... But atleast it was not so dramatic ...I love chandra dialogues to padmanand...

Even in friday episode he islooking so good and nandini is looking so boring... Even though she is beautiful and very good actress her scenes are not good...After coming back to palace she would shown in trance of the events unlike she was doing bhoot prank with that moti irritating bhabhi...and why this family look somlovey dovey all of sibling love each other with laughter giglings smiles and happines

Thank you so much, my dear Subha!

While I agree with your take in your para 1, it is a very hatke rationale you have later produced for Chandragupta's faux pas! It would never have occurred to me. Let us see if you are right. If you are, it is going to be hilarious. Telepathy, no less, and a completely symbiotic bond that neither is aware of as yet!😉

As for the rest, I am with you.

Wonderful analysis Aunty!

I agree with u that it was really strange to see Chandra telling his plans to a 'daasi'.May be he thought even of the 'daasi' tells the truth to the king,he may not believe her by thinking that she is a 'tucch daasi' or even if he believes her and calls for Chandra, he can lie and save himself. I think if Malayketu's father wouldn't have turned up all of a sudden, he probably could have used another Chanakya Neeti and save himself.

There can be another reason why they showed this.As it's a love story, they are trying to show that Chandra can express everything only to Nandini. She's the only one jiske aage he feels free to express all his feelings and everything. I am sure they are going to show this in the future. After all,in the first episode itself, the voiceover said that CGM became powerful ruler only because of Nandini so this is the starting point of that relationship. Even if he shouldn't have said that but he still said because the person who he was talking to was his Jeevan sangini.😆

Like Ankit, even I also noticed all those bloopers about Nandini's bhabhi asking who is Malayketu even after seeing him while he was entering the palace and the soldiers throwing him in front of Moora install of a closed room, etc.I felt it was too early for Moora and CGM to meet and I am sure they are going to meet like this again with both feeling a strange connection and apnapan before finally getting to know the real relationship which will happen in a few months.

I am just bored of Nandini's bhabhi's marriage talks but I guess,in those days women were conditioned to only think about marriage and their duties towards their family and nothing else. But it's strange that she still expects Nandini to marry the spy because he is brave and smart.

As I already said it yesterday, Nandini doesn't have that charm and that grace of a princess. She only looks like a princess because of her clothes but her personality is not that of a princess. Swetha should work on that.

Thanks once again for the analysis.

Thank you, Sara my pet!

I agree with all your comments here. As you say, with all its defects, the show has many saving graces - Rajat's Chandragupta and Chanakya to a lesser extent. But Sara, Nandini is not beautiful! She is very pretty without all that Christmas tree decorations, but beauty is something else.

Yes, the Mura-Chandragupta scene was quietly moving. Since he assures her that her son will come for her soon, he will be back to rescue her soon.

Hi Shyamala Aunty & All 😃,
I finally managed to get some "me time" for myself...😃...& here I am...😆

I still haven't got around to reading your post in detail, Shyamala Aunty, (due to time constraints, of course) but one thing that is definitely putting off & amusing at the same time, is the constant "history lament" where one of the two protagonists of the show called "Chandra Nandini" is supposed to be fiction 😆😆

Secondly, if some people are disliking the show so much, they still get time to not only watch it, but also write long posts on how much/what/why they dislike it 😕

I just know that I watch TV PURELY For entertainment & I don't find a better entertainer than RT today on TV. ...also, even if we pick up any best selling novel, we almost NEVER find it gripping & engrossing from page 1...it takes a good 20-25 pages for the story/plot to settle down & engross the reader completely...

Hence, if, instead of trying to search/invent/ discover faults with a new show, how about concentrating on the positives (RT/Chanakya) of the show in the beginning & allowing the story/characters/plot to settle down & save our verdicts for a later date?!?...

I just know that however weak the script/sets/characterizations etc maybe at the moment, I look forward to watching CN first thing when I turn on my tata sky recordings...😃...for I have a lot of hope from RT/SBP/CN...

Also, though I know that Aunty even you may disagree with me on this, I believe a lot in "cinematic liberty"...there's a difference between reality & cinema...the director can make use of this to drive home a point, which may seem improbable in reality...eg the nakli beard scene...to me, it was perfectly acceptable...instead of doing "baal ki khaal",(pun intended 😆😉), i accepted it as a matter of fact scene...may be cgm was prepared for such eventualities n was hence ready to disguise himself at the "drop of a choga"😆

In short, a plea to all...concentrate on the positives of the show & allow the script to settle down...it's basically a love story, having little to do with history, (CGM name is just to add to the intrigue), & the plot is simply setting stage for the 2 protagonists to hate each other & then to fall in love with each other...rest all is time pass...😃

Sorry for responding so late, Aunty. I had been having trouble with the internet connection the whole of yesterday.
I loved this post of yours a lot! It was brilliant 👏.

It was definitely an irresponsible folly on Chandragupta's part to reveal his plans to a daasi and it is surprising that he didn't give a thought to how a daasi could be good(??) at sword-fighting. I think the whole plan of Chanakya had too many loop-holes. And this is what irks me about most about historical fictions. I don't mind if they fabricate events, as long as they adhere to the underlying character traits of these great personalities.

I loved your description of Chandra's personality - "Chandragupta is like lambent fire sheathed in ice" 👏. One thing that I noticed was the anger on Chandra's face when Padmanand reveals that it was because of Nandni's smartness that Chandra was caught (though not entirely true). So far Chandra doesn't reveal any anger, but now he angrily stares at Nandni. Was it a hurt male ego, or latent chauvinism? Nandni did no wrong, she just acted to protect her kingdom and family. Even in the opening scene of Episode 10, Chandra tells the Nand family that he was caught because of Nandni (forgetting that he was caught because of his own stupidity), and he will escape because of Nandni. Why so much hatred for Nandni? It looks too forced for now. I can understand Nandni's hatred, but not Chandra's.

I too feel that Nandni acts less like a princess and more like a commoner. I don't think it has anything to do with her father's caste. Royal behaviour is because of the conditions you live in, that makes your behaviour different from the non-royals.

Sometimes Chandra-Nandni look like sparring kids to me 😆. You pull my hair, I'll pull yours. You slap me, I'll clench your jaws. You bite me, I'll push you.

For once I liked Mura 😆. I think this was one of the better executed episodes of CN.
