Chandni was jilted by her lover who was suffering from several degrees of Inadequacy. She went out and stood on her own two feet. She gained independence. She got a job. She worked hard. She made a name for herself.

Yes, she was in love with the same man. So what. Doesn't make her a bad person to be in love with her pehla pyar.

disagree...it was a good movie

She was actually a very strong character, who tried to make her marriage work despite having such crappy sasural waale, she went to another city to start her life again alone. it went pear shaped when Rishi meets an accident, Rishi began to grovel in self pity and the fact that he is no longer the same person since he was confined to a wheel chair who could only use one arm was dependent on everyone for everything and couldnt stand up for his wife to his family like he could before when he was fine. So to ease the pain he took such a major step of jilting her, so her future doesn't get ruined.

No I think I loved the film and I loved Sridevi here. She wasn't treated like shit but was thrown into a more saner and realistic life by her lover as he thought that if she stays away from him she can have a better life where she wouldn't have to tolerate a crappy in laws and take care of a wheel chair bound patient. He did it for her sake and later on when she realizes it obviously she would go back to him after all he still loved her and she loved him back too ..
