Shorter Shelf Life for REAL Actresses?

One Vidya took a short break, the new Vidya Kangana replaced her. One Kangana was forced to take a break for a year (Because Rangoon was postponed), the new Kangana Tapsee replaced her.

Shabana and Smita were queens of parallel cinema... malkins of acting ki dukaan for 10-15 years. But now... 2-3 saal gaye nahin dukan bandh.

People thought Huma would rule the indie movie world.. do saal gaye nahin Radhika Apte aake tapke.

I think because mainstream actresses now want the indie glory too, hence fierce competition to bag the projects. Also, Huma, Kalki, Richa etc all are vying for the one small genre ..tough to rule for long.

Depends on how you market yourself. Kangana is the only one who did that well. I don't think she will go away as easily as Vidya. But yes if Rangoon flops things will get tough for her thanks to her loudmouth and lack of friends in the industry. Vidya didn't pitch herself properly for biggies when the time was right. Instead did films which many were rejecting. Her film choices are better now.

Marketing oneself applies to non actresses too. That's why the ones smartly marketing themselves like Ash, Kareena, Katrina have stayed relevant longer than say Rani or Preity

Vidya was too "fat" and "old" to bag biggies at a time Katrina or Deepika were ruling.

Taapse doesn't have it in her to replace Kangna.

Kangna has a great line-up (movies with Vishal Bhardwaj, Hansal Mehta, Ketan Mehta, Ritesh Batra...) she is also appreciated in the industry (SLB, Aamir Khan, ALR...) so for her to go away will be tough.

This one reminds me of some of the aunties views on now a days products.They are like "Pehle ke cheesay 10-12 saal chalteta abki cheesay 2 saal bhi nahin tikte"
