Did Karan Johar chose a bad time for ADHM story setting?

Reading the spoilers of this upcoming movie it seems most of the story plot and characters are based from across the border. Did Karan Johar took a gamble by setting the story of ADHM from across the border at the wrong time when tensions between the two nations are at the highest right now? Will it hurt the revenue of this movie? I feel like as the movie date approaches politics will get under the way. Logic dictates that politics should not come in between cinema but it often does and sometimes people with self serving agendas can turn people against each other and exploit their nationalistic values.

Depends on the treatment of the story.

If that Pakistani princess and living together bit of Anushka character is true, I imagine some religious leader may have a problem. Bu this is going to happen regardless of tensions across the border. . In a conservative society, living together "glorified" in a movie is going to be frowned upon even in the most peaceable of times.

I think the movie might get banned in Pakistan though due to the live-in angle between an Indian and Pakistani. And yeah also due to the scenes between Saba and Ayan.

I don't know how far the audience will accept 3 Pakistani main characters and Fawad. I already saw some comments on ADHM's YT video asking why they cast Fawad in it when there are so many Indians there. It was one of the top comments.

Right wingers are also supporting Shivaay.

If there is some India vs Pak controversy, it will get nasty.

It might create more curiosity about ADHM, but then if people don't go to watch it, that will be a problem.
