Movies like Veer Zaara, Bajrangi Bhaijan etc did pretty well because they were also in relatively peace times. And then like you said it is the live in angle which may not sit well with certain audience. It would be interesting to see how many people get worked up over this and whats in store for ADHM.

Live in- I think it's who is living with whom that matters. Male audiences everywhere are a bit egotistical and tribal. In Pakistan, the idea of a Pakistani girl with an Indian boy might not do well at this time.

As for India, most successful cross-border romances in India involve an Indian guy and a Pakistani girl. For e.g., Veer Zaara, Gadar etc. I don't see it being a problem here. Fawad's presence might irritate people.

i am a pakistani but if my country is this petty to ban ADHM over something like this and create an issue out of it...shame on us!
it is high time we nations separate our politics from arts and let creative medium be without any boundaries

Yeah. I knew that Anushka was Pakistani but I didnt knew that 3 characters are Pakistani including that of Aishwarya. People in Pakistan will wonder inko aur koi nahi mila tha ke doh Pakistani girls are after one Indian man. People on Indian side will say out of entire India why does he travel all the way to Pakistan and being all devdas between two girls.

Feel bad for KJO. Poor guy no matter how I see it, there is so much controversy written over it. 😆

Some are literally making it good vs evil battle and Team Shivaay is going to milk this. I feel like timing thodi si kharab hogayi. Had this movie been around Bajrangi bhaijan time when relations between two countries were somewhat warm and welcoming to each other it might have been received well.

Yes, especially with all the discourse over terrorism. Tempers, rather than temperatures are soaring. Maybe KJo can model it like some 'Aman ki Asha' initiative.
I saw comments like, "Team Shivaay. Har Har Mahadev". Isme religious angle bhi ghusa rahe hain.

Yep. I get what you are saying. The same thing happened with Jodha Akbar and Bajirao Mastani. But this is on whole another level when you throw in India and Pakistan. It automatically becomes national prestige. Not just in movies but even in real life this happens. I knew someone who recently married a Pakistani girl in Dubai. The guy is from India. The paperwork is a mess. Both peoples extended relatives werent too happy about the marriage either. The Pakistani counsulate stalled to give some NOC to her while the Indian consulate asked her to apply visa from Islamabad and not from Dubai and asked so much paper work from the Grooms family back in India.

From spoilers , looks like Indian RK is uniting Pakistani lovers Anu-Fawad. It's Bajrani Bhaijaan , but for lovers, not lost little girl .
Plus they have not shown live in between Anu-RK from sexual angle. It's more like apartment sharing.

Ash- RK angle may be a problem, but they are two consenting adults. So who will object ?

What did Salman said? Ek ladka aur ek ladki kabhi dost nahi ho sakte. You think if some girl is living in with you, they wont bang each other? Impossible. 😆

Oh God. That sounds nightmarish. Why bring in international politics into personal relationships?

People are so tribal. "Isko yahan ka koi lakda nahi mila kya?". "Apne community ki koi ladki nahi pasand aayi". Whatever, man. As if we think about communities and borders when falling in love, as cheesy as that sounds.

Unfortunately this will always be the case. It isnt even about India Pakistan but pretty much all countries tend to do this type of propoganda. The US, China, North Korea, Russia they all do this with nationalistic values and unable to seperate politics from arts and entertainment. I feel like this movie tried to portray a good message but the timing is messed up.
