This was sad
But made me wonder doesn't even one like Anurag Kashyap give chances to a real talented outsider?

I kinda thought YRF did a little though... But then probably not for ones who come from extreme poor demographies

what an article. i loved how the writer noted each and every details of the pay etc.. and compared and gave us such clear distinctions.
and the world is definitely unfair.. the way things are going in BW, i would assume the rich will get richer and poor even poorer. the only way out is education >> money >> ability to pursue dreams..

im deeply hoping one day some one from the slums to be able to reign BW. just like how Rajini's inspirational story is. from a bus conductor >> superstar

Did anyone catch to the dark skinned actress, who is now renouned but was struggling in 2013 and was not cast in a movie made in 2013, because she was too reporter type?
Forget people from Dharavi, even middle class people have no hope in bW.

Even TV folkd are gradually upper middle class people.

HOwever anything which stagnates finally becomes stinky and is ruined. BW is gradually stagnating, not letting outsider or their talents flow in and in 20/30 yrs it will again see the trouble it has seen from a few yrs back.

I think it comes down to accent. You want English-speaking type actors despite the fact that there are like 50 words in total they have to say in english. the "urban" look.

Which is even sadder. They are not looking for actually educated people. Just people who "sound" educated, which is basically people who went to english medium schools and colleges.

So a large number of strugglers automatically become background artists even in cases where outsiders are given a chance.

thats why regional cinema is a little bit more inclusive i guess

tv i thought is doing so better than movies at least. most of these actors come from small towns and when they show their hometowns they don't actually look very rich. so at least in tv there is hope. but then tv is not really for actual "Actors". Not like 80% of it.

bollywood has kind of stagnated. at least girls are still welcome from outside. but boys 99% are insiders. so many movies made in a year and how many lead actors do we really have? but honestly i don't see it changing, not even in 20 years. its becoming a very very tight knit club.
