Chapter 36
Lunch Date : Jalaal on the way to Jodha's house
Leaving from school felt nostalgic. Coming to school had become a big part of his life and routine for years. He will surely miss everyone here a lot, but he was also excited to be heading into a new phase of his life especially because it will eventually have Jodha in it. He said goodbye to all his fellow teachers and met them one last time before leaving and now he was on his way to his Jaan. His stubborn Jaan who insisted on having lunch together.
While putting on his helmet Jalaal smiled excitedly. He was really looking forward to seeing his Jaan as always. But today his feelings were mingled with many emotions, he was excited about meeting her, though he was also sad as it would be their last meeting, at least for a while. He was also worried thinking about her lunch plan. God knows what she said to her mother? Her mother might not think much of it now but later she can make some connection with this.' He worriedly thought. Maybe I'll see how the atmosphere is at her house then decide if I'll stay for lunch or not. Ya I'll do that, that's a good idea.' He concluded.
Jodha, on the other hand, was super excited about having lunch with Jalaal. She quickly asked her mother in a calm and collected tone while hiding her excitement "Are the rice ready mom?? He will be here soon. I don't know if he's going to eat or not, but at least everything should be ready."
"Yes, the rice are almost done, just wait for the pressure cooker to open. I have to go back to the boutique and get everything ready for our evening train."
"Your clothes are not ready yet??" Jodha enquired disbelievingly.
"No!! Still some work left but don't worry they'll be done soon."
"Our own boutique and our clothes never get ready on time..." Jodha grumbled in a dim irritated tone.
Mainavati smiled hearing her, she knew how annoyed she gets every time this happens and she simply continued changing the topic "By the way, are you sure you don't want to come along with us for the wedding??" Once again Mainavati urged, hoping she will change her mind.
"Uhh no mom, you already know that I have pre-boards from Tuesday for which I need to study, and you guys will leave today and come back on Monday and if I go with you guys then I won't have enough time to prepare." Going with you means - miss saying goodbye to him before he leaves tomorrow, NO WAY!!! I know how mad Bhaiya will get at me but I can't choose to attend his wedding over getting a chance of being at home alone and talk as much as possible, before he leaves.' She thought. "Please just tell Bhaiya I'm really sorry for missing his wedding. Call me once you guys reach there, I'll talk to Bhaiya."
"Okay, as you wish... But everyone is going to miss you beta. Although I do understand that your studies are equally important. Anyway, I have to go now, so serve him the lunch yourself if he eats and you also eat later." Mainavati said as she walked towards the door to leave after instructing Jodha.
"Okay sure." Jodha casually replied while hiding her excitement about the prospect of having lunch with him in peace and without any interruptions as no one else was at home.
Jalaal entered the lane where Jodha's house was and saw Mainavati leaving the house and going in the opposite direction. She didn't see Jalaal coming but he saw her leaving. At least I know her mom's not home. That's a huge relief.' He thought and smiled to himself feeling relaxed. He climbed the stairs excitedly at a faster pace. He knocked the door once he saw it was locked. Jodha came rushing from the kitchen with a broad grin on her face and quickly opened the door for Jalaal.
They simply admired each other for a few seconds, but today Jalal was unable to take his eye off her innocent naive face, as if his mind was collecting memories of her innocence for the upcoming gloomy days, he kept on glancing at her until blush smeared her rosy cheeks and her eyes shyly turned down.. She is wearing regular jeans and a simple grey top, yet she's looking beautiful. And her hair...ohhh so nice and silky and she's kept them open today, just the way I like them.' Jalaal thought as he walked behind her to go inside the room. Jodha stopped at the door and asked Jalaal to sit while she went to get water for him.
As Jodha walked towards the kitchen she realized her heart was beating really fast in nervousness, she also felt a bit sad as they were meeting for the last time before he left for U S. It will be a long time before they will be able to see each other again. Thinking about not seeing him for a long time brought tears in her eyes. A few seconds later she quickly wiped her tears away and breathed deeply to control her emotions. Then she filled the glass with water for him, all the while thinking and telling herself "I will not cry, I will not cry, I will not cry..." She kept repeating it to herself like a mantra. Then she took out a tray, kept the glass on it and walked out of the kitchen with it.
Jalaal stood at the door thinking, once Jodha asked him to sit in the room and left. While glancing at his usual seat, he thought I don't want to sit on the single seater sofa today. That's sitting too far from Her from my perspective, plus anyone coming up the stairs can see us. I should sit on the three seater one today, there we can sit together and no one will see us either.' He walked to the other side, sat on the other sofa. Then he opened his bag and took out the ring boxes. He opened the box and smiled excitedly while waiting for Jodha to come back.
Jodha kept mumbling her mantra "I won't cry I won't cry..." the whole way from the kitchen to the room where Jalaal was. As she entered the room she noticed Jalaal was not sitting on his usual sofa, she furrowed her brows and confusingly looked at it and then she turned and saw Jalaal sitting on the opposite side sofa and smiling at her. She confusingly smiled and raised her eyebrows in question. Jalaal just patted the space next to him indicating that he wa
nts her to come and sit next to him. She smiled and kept the tray with water on the table and sat next to him.
"Hi" Jalaal said turning towards Jodha when she sat next to him.
"Hi," she replied smiling shyly while her beautiful eyes were looking down, and pink blush tinted once again around her cheeks. Just one simple Hi' raised her heartbeats rapidly. For some reason, she felt very shy and nervous.
Jalaal noticed her nervous stance and wondered if someone was home and which is why she was nervous. He quickly clarified "Is anyone home??"
Jodha nodded her head in a NO' but still was not able to look at him.
Jalaal wondered why she was nervous then? But nevertheless, it made him relax knowing they were safe and alone. Then he cautiously stretched his arms towards her and took her hands in his softly. This made Jodha lookup. "What's the matter??" Jalaal softly asked.
"Nothing" Jodha whispered in a low tone. Does he know I have been crying??' She thought panicking inside. She tried to mask her pain and smiled at him trying to show she was fine.
Jodha, you don't need to hide your tears from me... I am also feeling exactly the same,' but still he pretended and smiled back, saying "I want to show you something!! Wait..." he quickly turned and picked up both ring boxes from where he was hiding them behind himself. He quickly opened the boxes and showed her both the rings.
Jodha looked at them in awe and exclaimed, "Wow they look exactly the same, no one would ever know the difference." Then she took both the rings out of the boxes and examined closely. "The only difference is that you can tell by looking at them that one is newer than the other. But I think that's only when you see them together, otherwise, it should be okay. What do you think??"
"Yes, I also don't think anyone would realize that it's new. Don't worry so much." He assured her.
She nodded her head and smiled. "You're right." She handed him the original ring saying "You keep this and I'll keep this new one."
"Oh no, you won't!!" Jalaal said and quickly snatched the new ring from her hand.
Jodha looked at him confused "Huh, what?"
"I mean you are not taking it like that." He mischievously replied.
"Then how??" She asked still confused.
Jalaal simply smiled and stated "Give me your hand!" Then he forwarded his left hand palm up.
Jodha smiled shyly understanding what he was going to do. Awww... how romantic.' She kept her left hand in his and as soon as his warm hand touched her's, a ticklish shiver ran through her spine, it felt like huge butterflies were dancing around in her stomach, her hand trembled slightly and she felt excited to the point of feeling giddy.
He grinned widely seeing her excitement. "May I??"
"Mmhmm" Jodha nodded her head in a yes, quickly.
"After this you will be officially mine," he mused.
"Ring or no ring I am yours only." Jodha innocently replied without realizing what she was saying. Words just slipped from her mouth unconsciously, but as soon as she realized what she just spoke, her hand flew to her mouth and she looked at him with wide eyes. Though seeing the happiness on his face made her smile too.
She never misses a chance to surprise me. Her one simple innocent sentence, proclaimed her unconditional love for me... I will reminisce this moment again and again when I am alone... missing her warmth. She is truly unpredictable. I love her cute innocence.'
Then without any further delay, Jalaal slipped the ring on her finger while Jodha just looked at it in awww. He brought her hand up and lovingly kissed on it. She looked up at him with happy tears, but she made sure not to let them fall and gave him a smile. Before Jalaal could say or do anything else she quickly stood up to leave saying "I'll go get our lunch..." and rushed out of the room.
"Jodha..." Jalaal called but she ran inside.
I should go after her, I know she ran because she is trying to hide her tears from me.' He was sad seeing her like this so he stood up to go behind her, but then he suddenly halted at the door thinking What if someone came and saw me inside with her?? What will we say?? No no, I don't want her to get in any trouble, I should wait here only.' He went and sat back on the sofa. He kept glancing at the door waiting for her to return and with each passing second his anxiety was rising. He barely controlled himself from running behind her and taking her in his arms to provide her with much needed comfort.
Soon his wait was over. Jodha entered the room with a radiant smile on her face and two plates in hand filled with food. He felt instantly relieved seeing her smile, all his anxiety was gone and replaced with calmness. Even though he knew that she was hiding her pain and tears behind that beautiful smile, it still made him calm. He already had a feeling that she was strong enough to handle their upcoming separation but seeing how she was behaving at that moment made him sure of it, plus it made him extremely proud of her. Her strong behavior always gave strength to him too. She always had a positive attitude towards things. She would always look at the problem and try to find the solution, rather than thinking about what she could have done to avoid it, because that can't help her anymore but finding the solution definitely can. He loved that about her.
"So Mumma made Kadi and Rice today." She told and wiggled her eyebrows mischievously. She remembered that he liked them last time and was happy that once again they were gonna have it together.
"How did you manage that?? What did you say to your mom??" Jalaal asked surprised.
She held the collar of her top and boasted saying "I'm a smart girl!!" and giggled happily.
Jalaal chuckled, "Yes, I know you are very smart, but what exactly did you say to her??" He curiously asked.
"Forget about that, let's just enjoy the food..." She picked up a plate and handed it to him. "You must be hungry and so am I. Let's eat!!"
Jalaal grabbed the plate from her hand and smiled. He started mixing the Kadi in Rice and once he was done he looked towards the door to make sure no one was there. Then he lovingly forwarded a spoonful towards Jodha's mouth.
Jodha smiled and happily opened her mouth. Then she also filled a spoon and fed him. Once again Jalaal forwarded a spoonful and Jodha followed suit. That's how they continued eating their lunch. Both were enjoying each other's company in silence, it was not an awkward silence but a contented one...words were just simply not required. They were satisfied just being around each other.
After finishing the lunch they were sitting on the sofa facing each other. Jalaal was holding Jodha's hands in his. Both were quietly looking at each other, as if committing every small detail of each other's face to memory. These were going to be the last few moments together for a very long time. Jalaal began with heavy heart "I will miss you a lot Jaan."
"Me too" Jodha timidly replied.
"I will call you every night your time, same as I do now. I'm also checking for an option for you to be able to call me from home without anyone knowing." He explained.
"But how is that possible?? If I make an international call it will definitely show up on the bill."
"I know, but you need ISD activated on your phone for that. Vipul told me that there are calling cards that you can use to call me and they count as a local call or no charge on your phone. I'm not sure how it works yet, but Vipul is supposed to find out and confirm me tonight. If this option is available then it would be perfect, you can call me whenever you want without having to even step out of the house or any fear of anyone finding out about anything."
Jodha's eyes twinkled at the prospect of being able to stay in touch with him so easily and whenever she wanted.
"Emails are yet another option. Now you can finally use the email id I made for you." He said it with mischievous delight.
Jodha, of course, noticed it but couldn't decipher the reason behind his mischief. She ignored it and excitedly said "You know the other day when you told me your date of birth, I didn't realize it right away but later I noticed that the email id you made for me has your birth date. I was asking you to make my email id with my date of birth but coincidently you made it with yours. I'm so glad it happened because I lov..." Jodha stopped speaking as she noticed Jalaal's sheepish smile while he rubbed the back of his neck.
"What???" Jodha questioned in confusion, but as soon as she did a realization hit her, as fast as a bulb turns on. Her eyes widened at the realization and she quickly asked Jalaal "You did that on purpose, didn't you?? It wasn't really a coincidence, was it??"
Jalaal nodded at her in a yes and smiled sheepishly.
Jodha smiled and shook her head "Hmm, so finally I'll use the id then."
Jalaal glanced at his wristwatch and looked at Jodha who was already looking at him. They both gave each other half smiles knowing he needs to get going soon. "Few more minutes..." Jalaal mumbled in a sad tone.
Jodha nodded her head in understanding but her emotions betrayed her. Her eyes were filling with tears, she tried with all her might to control herself but she couldn't. She swiftly turned her back towards Jalaal and wiped her tears attempting to hide them from him.
Jalaal had seen her tears before she even turned her back to him. He himself was feeling the same sadness as her. Controlling his own emotional state he held Jodha by her shoulders and tried to turn her in an
attempt to make her face him. But she resisted, she did not want him to see her tears. She quickly started to wipe her tears away so she could turn towards him with a smile.
Before she could turn though, Jalaal slid both his arms around her waist and pulled her on his lap. She gasped in surprise and looked at him with wide eyes. He smiled lovingly and tenderly held her face in his hands. He shook his head indicating to her that he doesn't want her to cry and then very gently he wiped all her tears with his thumbs.
Jodha slowly shook her head up and down in consent and smiled for him.
Jalaal gently tugged her face down and softly kissed her forehead. He lingered there for a few seconds before he moved down and kissed both her eyes. "Jaan..." He whispered to make Jodha open her eyes. As soon as she opened her eyes, he looked straight at them and said in firm tone "Never cry Jaan, these beautiful eyes are only for looking at me with love, not crying." Jodha smiled shyly while her cheeks turned bright red. She looked down in embarrassment.
Seeing her blush so much Jalaal couldn't stop himself. He pulled her closer once again and kissed her left cheek. Then he turned and leaned towards her right cheek to kiss there.
Jodha felt the flutters in her stomach but instead of feeling just the butterflies in her stomach as she always did whenever he was around, she felt like the whole zoo had moved into her stomach and was now dancing there excitedly.
The look of pure happiness and joy on Jodha's face mesmerized Jalaal, he just kept staring. At that moment the only thing he wanted to do was to just simply press his lips against her lips and hold her tightly in his embrace and forget the whole world. He wanted to forget that after today they will be away from each other for an unknown period of time, he wanted to forget that she will not be in his arms or on his lap like this for a long time. For now, he just wanted to hold her and enjoy this moment with her to the fullest and keep these memories stored in his heart until they meet again.
Jodha noticed him staring, specially the way he was paying extra attention to her lips. She realized that after kissing her forehead, eyes and cheeks, maybe now he wants to kiss her on her lips. Heat rushed to her cheeks at the realization and she looked down, she felt extremely shy and wanted to run away from him out of shyness but at the same time a small part of her desired to experience their first kiss, desired to know how it would feel to be touched so intimately by him, how it would feel to be that close to him.
She looked up at him shyly when she felt his fingers caressing her chin softly and deliberately touching the corners of her lips. He looked into her eyes with deep longing as if silently asking her permission to kiss her. She understood his unspoken desire but wasn't sure how to respond. She felt like a war was going on between her mind and heart. Her mind was telling her to shy away from him while her heart wanted her to allow him to kiss her.
Jalaal noticed her struggle, he could tell she was wrestling within to make a decision. He smiled and waited for her to decide. I am okay even if she says no. It doesn't matter if I get to kiss her today or not. I don't want her to feel pressured, and either way, she was, is and will always be mine, forever, regardless of what she decides.' He thought trying to support her in whatever decision she takes.
Jodha, on the other hand, ended up giving into her heart's desire, she smiled shyly and closed her eyes in submission, indicating to him that he had her approval to kiss her.
Jalaal was happily surprised to know her positive decision. His eyes glowed with excitement and anticipation. He leaned in and pecked her nose lovingly, followed by the corner of her lips and then finally he pecked her lips gently but only for a second before he moved an inch back. He wanted to make sure she was sure about it.
Jodha shivered at their first sensual touch, but in a good way. She unconsciously leaned closer wanting more as her hands moved up and clutched his shoulders tightly and pulled him towards herself intuitively. Her positive reaction gave Jalaal the assurance he was looking for.
Her assurance was all that he needed to let go of his restraint. He quickly covered the distance between them and captured her lips in his and nibbled softly. She felt strange, but good sensation run through her whole body making her feel giddy and shiver slightly. He encircled her waist with one arm and splayed his other hand between her shoulder blades and pulled her extremely close, even the wind couldn't pass through. He felt the softness of her breasts against his hard chest. He ran his hand softly up and down her back, through her sides, feeling her curves. Each second that passed made him crave her more and more. He wanted to taste her mouth thoroughly and deeply. He ran his tongue over her lips seeking entrance.
His soft touches were creating tingles and pleasurable shocks throughout her body. When his tongue caressed her lips over and over, she got the feeling that he was trying to achieve something but not sure about what he was trying to achieve, Jodha stayed tight lipped. Sensing her confusion Jalaal pressed his tongue between her lips, coaxing her to open her mouth. His tongue slid in slowly savouring the taste of her sweet mouth. His tongue caressed her's eagerly and then delved in every nook and corner of her mouth.
Meanwhile, Jodha's hands moved further up from his shoulders to reach his hair. Her fingers curled in his soft hair on their own accord, it was a novice experience, she wasn't sure how to react to all these pleasurable feelings, so she just let her instincts take over.
They poured all their love in that kiss, they didn't want this moment to end and kissed until their lungs protested for oxygen.
As they came up for oxygen, Jalaal gave her a salacious smile. Jodha's hands fell to his shoulders when he moved his head back to look at her. Jodha felt extremely shy and hid her face in the crook of his neck, encircling her arms around his neck. Jalaal chuckled seeing her shy. He also encircled his arms around her waist and hugged her tightly, enjoying her love and warmth. His hand, with a mind of it's own, roamed her back up and down spreading the tingles while he kept her close in his hold with the other.
Suddenly his whole body felt a jolt as if someone had just electrocuted him, though the jolt didn't hurt him, infact, it felt really good. Soon he realized the source of the jolt, it was Jodha. She had just puckered her lips and kissed him on his neck where she was hiding herself.
Being so close to Jalaal made Jodha have the urges she never had before. The overwhelming feeling to express her love made her pucker her lips and kiss him while whispering "I love you!!" to him lovingly.
"I love you too Jaan, so so so much."
I HATE waiting.
But if Waiting means
being able to be with
YOU,
I'll wait for as long as
FOREVER
to be with
YOU.
