CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED FIVE
Back at the Bhallas' Raman was excited to have his kids over for the first time. It was bitter sweet because he would have hoped that this would happened at a time when he and their mother were together and they were just returning home. But as things didn't quite turn out that way but needless to say he was going to ensure he made the best of it.
As he prepared their room with the help of Simmi and Mihir he kept on worrying whether or not they would like it or they would enjoy it and as usual his siblings were asking him not to worry.
'Raman you have done everything right, stop freaking out'' Said Simmi
'Plus I think you just bought an entire toy store into this house good God'' Said Mihir
'I want them to have everything... They are very comfortable at Ishita's and I wanted them to feel the same way here...'' He said looking around
'Ishita doesn't spoil them like this...'' Said Simmi looking around shaking her head
'Well, they are coming to see me not Ishita'' He snapped
'Okay... Calm down I was only saying...''Said Simmi
'Anyway, I need to go, I have a date with a client...'' Said Mihir
'Yeah right, tell Mihika I said hi...'' Said Simmi

'Oh...'' Said Raman

'So I have heard...''Said Raman as he got up to go grab his coat

'Your health okay, Abhimanyu said Mihir told him about the headaches you get'' Said Bala
'Yeah, I am okay... They put me on some medication so we will see how that goes...'' Said Raman
'Does Ishita know you are having side effects from that brain surgery...'' Said Bala
'I am not having any such thing'' Said Raman

'Ishita is one of those people who literally leave by the promises she makes...You know...She has loved you throw hard and hell, she has taken care of it even when you didn't want it, she has loved you when it was hard to love you, she watched another woman take you from her but she still came back... Now she was still willing to do that until her father cashed in his promise ...'' Said Bala
'Cashed in how...'' Said Raman whose attention was now grabbed
'When he was first arrested he was willing to give you up as well as your father and tell them what happened and how you all came into the possession of that hotel but Ishita pleaded with him. She told him that she would do whatever he wanted as long as he could allow her save you...'' Said Bala
'I have heard all this from Simmi...'' Said Raman
'No...No... The promise was once it was all done, she was supposed to leave you and marry any man of her father's choosing...'' Said Bala

'Yeah... After he found out about the cancer scare and how she ignored herself to go do that mission in CIB he was livid and so he cashed in. Told her he wanted her to divorce you and do as she promised...'' Said Bala

'I guarantee you Raman she will abide by that promise, one because she never breaks them and two, her father has given up and lost so much for her to say no...'' Said Bala
'Why would she allow him manipulate...'' Raman began and Bala interrupted
'You mean like you allowed your father manipulate you... You are in no place to judge her and understand where she is coming from. That family of her has sacrificed everything for her, even if it was you in her place, you would have done the same thing'' Said Bala looking at Raman
Bala knew how to play his part and he was going to play it to perfection, Ishita was like family and she always helped him when things got out of hand, it was going to be his turn. Now the plan was simple and it was going to work for both these idiots
'Why are you telling me this...'' Asked Raman taking the bait
'Because, that man...The one her father has chosen for her...I know who he is...'' Said Bala
'Wait... There is a man Ishita is already preparing to marry...'' Said Raman shocked
'She isn't... In fact has no idea that there is one, her father just approached him and he is waiting for the guy's response...'' Said Bala
Bala could see Raman flinch his fists as he died with jealousy. He knew that the thought of Ishita with anyone else was something he couldn't take. The idea was to remind him of what he was about to lose and maybe then he would get back into their senses
'Do you know him...'' Raman asked
'Know who...'' Said Bala
'The guy do you know who it is...'' Asked Raman
'Yeah I do...'' Said Bala
'Well have you met him, do you know who he is, what he does...'' Said Raman
'Hmmm...'' Said Bala keeping quiet and he turned the key in the ignition and started the car
'Well then, who is he...'' Asked Raman desperate
'Me...'' Said Bala and he drove off
Back at the Iyers, Ishita was wondering how the hell she was going to convince her parents to allow her be with the one person she knew was right for her. Abhimanyu had done his job and the only thing remaining was to use the obvious irresistible connection between these two
'Ruhi Aditya, come on and talk to me a bit...'' He said as he got up from Ishitas room grabbing the kid by the hand and taking them out
'What is it...'' Asked Ruhi
Abhimanyu looked around nodding to Mr. Iyer who was supposed to ensure that Ishita stayed in her room and she couldn't come out until he was done explaining to the kids what to do
'Alright... I know how excited you are to go to your papa...'' He said
'Yes...''Said Ruhi
'And I know how much you would love for your mom to be their...'' Said Abhimanyu
'Yeah...'' Said Aditya
'Well... She says she has to work but she is lying'' Said Abhimanyu
'Why...'' Said Ruhi
'Because she and your dad are having a fight...'' Said Abhimanyu
'A fight... ' Said Ruhi confused
'Yeah a fight, like a quarrel...'' Said Abhimanyu
'Like you and Mihika auntie fight...'' Said Aditya
'Something, like that...'' Said Abhimanyu smiling as he tried to make them understand what he was talking about

'Well why can't they just say sorry to each other...'' Said Aditya
'When I make Adi angry I just say sorry and he forgives me...'' Said Ruhi
'I know but you see your mother is very stubborn... ' Said Abhimanyu
'So she won't say sorry...'' Said Ruhi
'No... She won't...'' Said Abhimanyu
'Is that why she cried at night...'' Said Aditya something Abhimanyu wasn't expecting to hear
'She what...'' He said
'I heard her last night crying, she thought I was sleeping...'' Said Aditya
'I heard her too... I don't like mom crying...'' Said Ruhi her voice breaking
'You see she is sad right now because she is not with your papa. You see how Aditya annoys you so much but you can't spend a day without seeing him...'' Sad Abhimanyu
'Yeah...'' Said Ruhi sweetly
'She is like that with your papa except ten times more...''Said Abhimanyu
'So what should we do to help her...'' Asked Aditya
'Okay now here comes the fun part... Although it is very important that you do not tell her a word ... It will be our little secret... Are you sure you can handle this'' Said Abhimanyu
'Yes...'' They both said and the plan was set in motion
Back in Raman's car, he was absolutely shocked and angry and felt betrayed. How can Mr. Iyer just do something like that? There was a complete disregard for what they were going through and he was surprised more than anything that Mr. Iyer was trading the same lines like his father.
'What is the matter with that man? I have two kids with his daughter doesn't that count for something? And why in the hell would he choose you'' Said Raman
'Excuse me...''Said Bala
'No offense but you and Ishita are the least compatible couple I can ever imagine. You and she have absolutely nothing in common'' Said Raman
'I think Mr. Iyer was concentrating on that at all when he asked me to marry his daughter'' Said Bala
'What was he thinking then? What could be more important than that? If you two are not compatible then what the hell will you be doing together?'' Said Raman
'For starters what you define as compatibility is not the same as I would describe it. Besides I have an absolutely perfect relationship with Ishita, it is better than most, it is better than what you have with her...'' Said Bala
'Meaning...'' Said Raman
'Look he only asked me because he knows I can give her something you can't...'' He said
'Which is what...'' Said Raman
'Security, Dependence, blind trust and most importantly peace of mind, she can depend on me no matter what...Can you say the same...'' Said Bala
'Yes...'' Said Raman firmly
'History says otherwise...'' Said Bala
'I do not get you. So do you want to marry my wife...'' Said Raman and he expected Bala to give an affirmative No but he was in for a shock.
Bala instead turned to him for a second before he turned his eyes to the road again. If it was up to him he would have been throwing his head back and laughing given the expression on Raman's face in that moment but he knew he needed to stay in character.
'Dude...'' Said Raman his heart skipping a beat
'Listen...'' Bala began but Raman interrupted
'No way...Are you serious'' Said Raman
'Let me finish will you...'' Said Bala as he tried to calm a now agitated Raman down
'I am a single man. Have been for a while I think it is time that I settled down. Ishita is the kind of woman I would want for a wife. I adore her kids more than anything and I know she is a perfect mother. So in all fairness it this were to go through it would be like a blessing for me and for the record, she is not your wife anymore'' Said Bala
'She and I are not divorced...'' Said Raman
'Yet...''Said Bala
'What the f**k Bala are you in love with Ishita'' Said Raman
'I could be... When you find a woman like her you fight like hell for her' 'Said Bala
Raman felt like he wanted to just skew that car off the road and ride Bala right off a cliff. There were so many things going on in his mind jealousy, regret, anger and most importantly betrayal
'How can you...'' He said his fist flinched as he tried to control his anger
'Why are you telling me this...'' He added
'Mr. Iyer gave me some time to think about it and he expects my answer in two weeks...'' Said Bala as he drove into the Iyer compound parking the car before he turned to Raman saying
'If you have any reservations about this divorce, I suggest you fix it in these that time because Raman I give you my word if yours and Ishita's status hasn't changed in two weeks. I will go back to Mr. Iyer and my answer will be yes...''
'She doesn't even love you...'' Said Raman
'Doesn't matter, I will love her enough for the both of us. Her being my wife will be enough and who knows, I have enough in me and I know her well enough to say I can make her fall in love with me. Make no mistake in thinking otherwise... ' He said getting out of the car
Raman looked at Bala and it was like he was seeing someone else all together. This was not the man he remembered meeting months ago. Maybe this was just another ploy or play by Ishita. But the seriousness of Bala wouldn't allow him think that way and he could genuinely say, he was rattled.
He got out of the car walking not far behind from Bala as they walked into the Iyer house. Raman knew he needed everything in him to keep his cool and not create a scene. Once he walked in, Aditya and Ruhi were seated in the living room with their grandparents and Abhimanyu. As soon as they walked in, the all jumped up and run to them. Raman smiling put his hands out but they ran past him going to Bala
'Uuffooo what took you so long...'' Said Ruhi
'I am sorry my angel, traffic and all...'' Said Bala bending down on one knee as he hugged them
'I really missed you... Why did you take so long to come back'' Said Aditya
'I am sorry... I will make it up to you once you get back from your dad's...'' Said Bala
'Promise...'' Said Ruhi sweetly
'Paka...'' Said Bala slightly pinching his neck
'Alright...'' Said Aditya who then turned to Raman and said
'Oh hey dad...''
'Hey... I was beginning to think you forgot about me'' Said Raman whose feelings where clearly hurt
'Of course not... How can we forget about you, dad? That is silly...'' Said Ruhi giggling before she walked to her dad hugging him just like Aditya
'We just wanted to say hey to Pops, it's been a while...'' Said Aditya
'Who...'' Said Raman
'Pops...'' The said together
'Is that a nick name or something...'' Said Raman slightly amused
'Well kind of... He always took us to school and recitals and everything while mom and Shlok papa were working.'' Said Ruhi
'Everyone assumed even at school that he was our dad but we knew he wasn't '' Said Aditya who took his dad's hand sitting him down
'But it always felt like he was. He didn't want us calling him dad and so we just came up with the name Pops... ' Said Ruhi who was now sitting on her Raman's lap
'Oh so it is a nickname for...'' Said Raman and the kids completed
'Dad...''
Bala who whose finger was now on his lips was trying to fight back the smile on his face. He was shocked at the acting skills of these two. Ishita really was their mother. He slowly walked to where Mr. Iyer was and bent down touching his feet and he took his blessing, doing the same with Mrs. Iyer
'Bless you my son...'' Said Mrs. Iyer with pride
'Is she in...'' He asked
'Yeah... She is in her room...'' Said Mrs. Iyer
'I will just go talk to her...'' Said Bala walking upstairs leaving a shell shocked Raman staring at what was going on
'Papa... Are you okay...'' Said Ruhi
'Uhhh Yeah, why...'' Asked Raman
'You seem pale...'' Said Aditya causing Abhimanyu to chuckle and cough to try and hide his laugh
'Aditya come on go pick your bag...'' Said Abhimanyu
'Sure...'' Said Aditya as he got up and run upstairs catching up with Bala who lifted him up and off they went
'Ruhi... You two...'' Said Mrs. Iyer
'That bag is too heavy... Papa will you help me...'' Said Ruhi
'Ruhi...'' Called Mr. Iyer
'I can do it, it is fine...'' Said Raman who desperately wanted to go upstairs and see Ishita
Mr. Iyer knowing they had him where they wanted didn't object. He instead turned to his granddaughter and said
'Sure... But do not take too long up their...'' And Ruhi smiled before turning and her father carried her upstairs
Abhimanyu watched them shaking his head not believing how well they had done.
'Wow...'' He said
'You can say that again...'' Said Mr. Iyer
'Okay that is scary how those two can lie with such a straight face...They are just 6 years old'' Said Mrs. Iyer
'They really are Ishita's children...'' Said Abhimanyu laughing
Raman who was not so far behind could hear Bala and Ishita talking and he couldn't get their soon enough
'You look radiant today...'' Said Bala
'What nonsense... I always look radiant...'' Said Ishita as she got off the bed hugging Bala
When Raman walked in, he could see Ishita was wearing tank top and shorts and when Bala hugged her he slightly ran his hands down her waist causing Ishita to freeze as she pulled back looking at him but Raman had already seen what they intended.
