Vicky Kaushal straightens up to psycho Nawaz in Anurag Kashyap's next

Anurag Kashyap's psycho-thriller inspired by the true story of Raman Raghav, who confessed to the killing of 23 people in 1966 along the GIP (the Central Railway line, then known as the Great Indian Peninsular Railway) has Nawazuddin Siddiqui playing the serial killer.

Now, Mirror has learnt that the Masaan actor, Vicky Kaushal, has bagged the role of the a cop, modelled on Ramakant Kulkarni, the then Deputy Commissioner of Police - CID (Crime) who had taken over the investigation and spearheaded a massive operation leading to Raman's eventual arrest and confession.

"Vicky auditioned for the role around 10 days ago. Anurag started filming on Sunday in Mumbai," says a source close to the development, adding that it's a tough character. "To catch a psycho like Raman he cannot be a Mr Goody Two-Shoes."

After a two-day stint, the actor flies off to the 20th Busan International Film Festival today. His upcoming musical drama, Zubaan is the opening film. This is the first time an Indian film has been selected to open the event. His last release, Masaan will have its Korean premiere at the festival in the section, 'A Window on Asian Cinema' too. "After four days he'll be back on the sets on Saturday," the source adds.
