Innings Break

Tremendous power-hitting and Ireland post a massive score of 235 on the board. Have they already batted Oman out of the contest? Inserted to bat, Ireland lost three wickets in the powerplay with Shakeel Ahmed removing the top three batters. Campher got going with a couple of boundaries but his innings was cut short by Aamir Kaleem's arm ball. At 64/4, Ireland were in a spot of bother and that's when Lorcan Tucker was joined by Gareth Delany. The former actually got a reprieve on 18 when a stumping appeal was turned down by the TV umpire (a debatable call). The two Irish batters took the aggressive route and they put the Oman bowlers under a lot of pressure. They put on an exhibition with the bat as they hit boundaries for fun. While Delany showed his hitting prowess, captain Tucker played an array of strokes as the duo forged a century partnership. There was no respite for Oman even after breaking that partnership as Dockrell started to hit sixes from the word go to score a 9-ball 35*. Tucker fell short of a century by 6 runs but he'll be mighty pleased with Ireland's score.

Gareth Delany: I've been on pretty tough pressure games for us, so it was nice to get out there today and put on a good show. Unfortunately, it's probably out of our control now, so we can play with that extra bit of freedom and kind of show how good of a team we can be. I guess the conditions probably swung for us from one end, and it's kind of a good surface, so I think we got one to one of us got out, and then we could both kind of kick on together, which we did. Yeah, it's a bit of a fun, I guess. I can go out there and just play with that bit of freedom and try and get sixes.
