How do you keep your glamour quotient evolving?
You know, I don't read up on glamour but I feel it's inherent. Either you are glamorous or you are not. You can look extremely glam in a white shirt and jeans. It doesn't need to be in-your-face. In fact, when you dress simply and still have an air about you...you understand true glamour. It's the way you carry yourself. It's ultimately being comfortable with the way you look in the mirror. I often just browse and buy things, not brands, just because they feel nice.
Your go-to shopping destinations...
I am obsessed with shopping in London and Paris. I love shopping at Harvey Nichols and Harrods, two places I always visit.
Your instant go-to fashion fix?
I personally love blazers. I have 20 different cuts of black jackets, because I feel that a blazer is one garment when thrown over a T shirt or a shirt, a pair of jeans and a stylish hand bag, can make you look good.
Nothing can go wrong.
Are you a get up-and-go girl or high maintenance when it comes to fashion and beauty?
I am a get-up-and-go girl. It's only at photo shoots that one has to do all this or when Saif (Ali Khan) and I have to go to a glamorous event. But even when we are going to an event together, my taste will be classic; more like a Giorgio Armani, or a Ralph Lauren... those are my buys."
How do you lift your looks up instantly after a long day?
Hmm... kajal in my eyes. I think most people who see me, tell me I look far more glamorous when I have kajal... and it doesn't matter if I am dead tired and have to still step out for dinner or something, just a black dress and a lot of smokey kajal works like a charm. I don't do too much to my hair, if a blow dry is not possible then I just bundle it up into a ponytail... sometimes a low one, or a high one."
Would you call yourself a fashion victim or an individual?
I am not obsessed with trends or what's in fashion; I tend to go for whatever suits me. Like everyone may say, don't wear boot-cut jeans, they are out of style but to me, a good pair of boot-cut jeans with a shirt can look really sexy!
Inner pick-me-ups to feel glamorous?
A glass of champagne. Listening to jazz and blues. Yoga, pilates and pranayam... A good pair of sunglasses, kajal and lip balm. I use a moisturiser but otherwise I don't use any base or foundation or tint when I am travelling. I am not particular about Indian or Western products; it's about what works best for me.
Do you see glamour as an age-related construct?
I think glamour is to do with the way you feel. It's more about attitude than just the way you look. And above all, it's about the way you love yourself.
