pritam is one of the best music directors of india but he is often criticised for plagiarism.Pritam counters that he is simply "inspired" by various musical sources and cites his sources whenever appropriate has a separate page on songs plagiarized by Pritam with explanations and relevant audio clips. Some examples from the site are provided below.

'Alatoul' by Lebanese singer Karina, Album: Ya Rayt Bshoufak, 2006 and 'Jab se tum milay ho' by Pakistani singer Hadiqa Kiyani from her debut album 'Raaz', released in 1996. The prominent orchestration and the tune for the hook is lifted from Karina while he has lifted the mukhda's tune, along with part of the lyrics, from Hadiqa Kiyani

umm i love how he copied mostly pakistani and arabic...jeez i like the songs but he could come up with ORIGINAL ones that are good....i dont know if it was him but they're alot of songs by abrar ul'haq that were copied...and that song ankiyaan na maar in ek khiladi ek haseena, the beat is almost exactly the same as ushers song "yeah"..listen to both and u will realize

Oh please, He's not the only one copying of other people's ideas. Some directors copy the whole movie from another movie, example, the movie Train with Emraan

I like his songs and I thought he got permission for the music he used in Awarapan
