Hello YHMians...back with a new long part!
I am not fully convinced with what I wrote but I couldnt get myself to write more explicitly. I had to draw a line somewhere.

Part 6
His finger lingered on her lips for a little longer till she snapped out and stepped back a little.
To save the awkward situation, he instantly voiced, "Main bas emotional support ki baat kar raha tha...Na jaane apne gandi dimaag mein kya kya sochthi ho..." passing the blame game onto her.
Before she could come out of the shock and respond to his game, he quickly added, "Andar chalo...yahi kade hoke free mein picture dikaane ka shauq nahi hai mujhe" and walked inside expecting her to follow. She looked around and realized that their balcony was indeed a view point from many windows and balconies of other apartments. A little hesitantly, she too followed him to the room.
******************************
It was almost an hour since they walked into the room. First, she had excused herself and gone to the wash room. She took like forever to come back. When he tried to initiate some conversation, she said that her throat was dry and needed some water. When he pointed to the water jug, she said she needs warm water and that she would get it from the kitchen.
She went to the kitchen to drink warm water. He could sense that every excuse of hers was just to prolong what they were trying to do. She was just keeping herself away from what was impending or perhaps she was running away from him. He knew he was thinking over the top but then the situation was indeed so strange and awkward that only such weird thoughts and assumptions crept into his mind.
Now every excuse and reason had died out. She couldn't think of anything else which wouldn't sound explicit and show off her fear and panicky state. She stood at the ward robe as if frantically searching for something. He was indeed losing his patience with her antics. He couldn't hold off his taunts now.
"Mera mood set karne keliye koyi hot and sexy night gown doond rahi ho?"
He spoke out so casually and looked at her enquiringly as to what was so important to search at this time other than what he said.
She was startled and also shuddered at the awkward taunt while he added with a naughty grin, "Don't bother so much...aa jaao"
She broke herself from the racks where she was glued to for minutes together and turned towards him, but her eyes remained lowered.
"Do you plan to stand there all night Ishita?"
She shook her head whispering, "nahi...main bas yun hi kuch..."
He snapped her short when she started searching for words to reply, "Then come here...I am waiting for you"
She hesitantly took a few steps but stopped a little away from the bed, her fingers fidgeted her kurti restlessly. He knew it was difficult for her and so got up from the bed and walked to her, "Aise dur rahenge toh kaise chalega...I know it's difficult but..."
He took her hands in his as he said that. He had held her hands several times but this touch seemed to do something different inside her, probably the situation or the fear of what lay ahead made her feel that way. She wasn't scared of a physical relationship but it was the forced nature of this situation which she dreaded.
Her knees were getting weaker as his hands travelled up her arms to her shoulder. He made it seem so casual and normal but then only he knew what those casual touches undid inside him. The seemingly casual touches weren't all that casual for him. All his leashed up passion and desires ignited inside him at the mere touch. He ached for more of her but he didn't show it out explicitly.
But her state was a little different, infact extreme to what he felt. His casual attitude made her tense all the more. She felt a little low wondering if what she was doing or getting him to do was proper at all. She was also worried if she would ever be able to please him the way he would like it. It wasn't new to him and as far as she knew, he cherished Shagun in every way possible. So a comparison was inevitable and that made her cringe too.
They weren't a normal couple from day one. A bond of love which exists between a husband and wife was never established or acknowledged between them. Now all of a sudden, this intimacy and thoughts of physical relationship was only out of a compulsion. Her dream for a baby was the only reason he was doing this. How much ever she rubbished her silly thoughts aside, it didn't seem to leave her head. Her mind was struck to the idea that he was doing a favour for her.
Such wandering thoughts froze her completely. Her body stiffened further and it was well evident in her body language. Even though he tried his best, he couldn't get her to respond back in the way he wanted her to. That was slowly putting him off but since he knew her mind state, he kept his efforts going on, in the hope that she would also respond to him eventually. He knew that he had to take every initiative in this because she would never come to him and take the first step. If he backed away, then a baby was out of question. Yes, it was all for a baby and that too for her happiness, or that's what he was convincing himself with.
But deep inside, he recognized that he was doing it all because he wanted to do it. He didn't feel any pressure or compulsion. He wanted her as his wife in every meaning. He wanted to consummate their marriage because his desire for her had already caught up with his thoughts and captivated his senses. He would never openly accept that he had started loving and caring for her like a wife and not just as his daughter's Ishima. He just wanted to let go and in the process, make the realizations open and also get her to realize it.
His hands caressed her face gently and turned her towards him. He saw that her eyes were lost somewhere else and she stood still like a doll, pretending to surrender before whatever he wanted to do. A silent consent to everything he desired from her but then that wasn't working well with him. He sure wanted her right away but not like this, never like this.
As his fingers ran across her cheeks, tear drops which she had been trying hard not to shed rolled down and her eye lids fluttered to a close. Those tears pricked him hard. He took his fingers off her the same instant, muttering, "It is not going to work like this...I need you to cooperate too Ishita...ab toh aisa lagtha hai jaise main zabardasti tumhe..."
He stopped his words when her eyes opened widely and she replied, "I am sorry...I am trying but I feel really weird Raman...pyar aur aisa koi feelings ke bina..."
That poked him and he was annoyed by her rantings about the absence of love in their relationship. He wanted to shut her up and ask her what made her think that there was no love between them but he didn't ask anything of that sort. Rather, his ego made him talk a different language altogether. He sarcastically enquired, "Ever heard of one night stands??...pyar vyar kuch nahi hota...phir bhi dono partners maximum enjoy karthe hai..."
His mention of one night stands only made things worse for her but she bit back her bitter words. He realized that he had uttered things which made her recoil back and he regretted that he said that impulsively. He accepted to himself that he shouldn't have compared this to one night stands. He had to do immense damage control. He looked at her scrutinizing or rather gauging the hurt and pain he had caused to her. Her silence and more tears blurring her eyes told him that he had over stepped the line this time.
He spoke up soon, "Ishita, mera woh matlab nahi tha..."
She accusingly asked but in a very soft whimper, "Toh kya matlab tha aapka?"
He cupped her face in his palms and tried to pacify her, "mera matlab, sab rishte pyar se shuru nahi hota Ishita...there are exceptions... You just need to let go of yourself and live the present moment..."
She remained silent for a few more seconds and then replied as calmly as possible, "Shaayad aap keliye aasaan hoga but...yeh sab mere liye aasaan nahi hai Raman..."
Her reluctance to let go made him doubt if Subbu was the reason for her disinterest in him. May be she hadn't gotten over Subbu as she presumed and vouched for. Moreover, her assumption that it was easy for him irked and flared him up beyond limits. This woman was testing his patience like hell. Did she really think that he was such a jerk that he wanted to jump into the bed with her?
But actually, she had meant that he was experienced and this wasn't his first time but for her, it was the first time ever she was getting so close with a man. So the situation in which she was compelled to do it was actually causing havoc inside her head and also playing games with her sanity. In that lost state, she was blurting out such things which he wasn't able to comprehend.
He lost his cool at the mere thought of her still thinking about Subbu and her first love. He replied, "Mujhe bhi yeh sab karke koyi khaas maza nahi aa raha...What did you think about me? Did you think that I am just dying to get you into my bed?? Agar aisa sochthi ho toh yeh bohat badi galath faymi hai tumaari"
She tried to explain, "Raman mera woh matlab nahi tha..."
He wasn't taking any of her explanations, "Shaadi ke pehli raat se hi tum mujhe galat hi toh samajhti aayi ho...So no big deal that you think the same today also...but madam, the truth is that I am least interested..."
After a small pause, he completed his words angrily, "in you!"
He knew he had hurt her with those final words but she had left him with no choice but say that out. He walked back to his bed without giving her a second glance deciding that if his words meant a full stop to what they wanted to try, then be it!
She stood there silent still taking in his rude words of rejection. It wasn't new to her. It was like his second nature to hurt her with such words, making her feel that even if she was the last woman on Earth, he wouldn't be interested in her. She wiped away her tears and went out of the room without saying anything in reply.
He rose up a little to see her going. Was he a tad disappointed at her silent response? Perhaps yes, perhaps he expected her to shout back a lecture in full on JKR mode but she did the opposite.
He returned back to his "I don't care a damn" attitude or rather forced himself to ignore her and tried his best to sleep but he couldn't. He wanted to go right behind her, take her in his arms to comfort her but he didn't. Well, he had always longed to do that each time she emotionally broke down but never once was he able to bridge that gap between them. All he could do was, wait for her to take time to compose herself and come back.
As expected, he lay awake till she came back and settled on the couch, which she did after a long hour which felt like foreever.
The next few days were silent. The lull or perhaps the void was indeed deafening to both. She was behaving normal and doing every chore of his like she did before but something was missing. Her smiles seemed fake, her conversations were formal and to the point, her routine house hold chores seemed like mere duties. Even though, she was there in the house with him, he missed her big time. Her silence killed him from inside. It engulfed him in guilt which seemed to grow with each passing moment.
She never spoke again about the baby or the treatment. She never came up to him for anything at all. Days moved on but the life seemed to have come to a stand still.
Whenever he tried to enquire if she was alright, she brushed it aside in a one word answer that she was perfectly fine, lacing it with a superficial smile. That was another big thing which irked him. He knew she wasn't fine but every time he asked her, she would smile and say yes leaving no scope for further conversation. Even in her presence, he felt her absence. He regretted his taunting, insulting words more than ever. The absence of the family and especially Ruhi made matters worse for them. With no other distractions, they were quite lonely even when in each other's company.

Ishita, on the other hand wasn't fully out of her renewed dream for a baby but she was trying her best to convince herself that it could only remain a dream now. She was forcing the reality on herself that no matter what, she can never give birth to a baby. She tried to bury the baby wish she had weaved in those few days deep inside her. But the whole world seemed conspiring against her and making her think about it time and again. In the last few days, many things happened around her constantly reminding her of her disability and how unfortunate she was that she can't deliver a child. Or perhaps, so far she hadn't thought much about it and so nothing impacted her but now after getting a slight hope, she was pushed back to the dark abyss and the pitch black darkness made her wish for a little light again.
First, it was a mother and a little kid who came to her clinic. The kid was getting its first few teeth and his mother brought him to Ishita for a check up. As Ishita examined, the mother went on rambling about her kid's cute antics, his naughty pranks and his crankiness due to the teeth. Any other day, Ishita enjoyed such baby talks but at the present situation, she was in total despair and at a loss of words. She silently heard to what she said faking a smile. Ruhi had crossed such phases and she wasn't part of that phase of Ruhi's life. Even unknowingly, the fact that Ishita can never witness such things in her life hurt her immensely.
Then it was a cute couple's turn to bring her face to face with another reality of her life. The wife, who was the patient was pregnant but was suffering from a terrible tooth ache. She was Dr Bhatra's patient but he referred her to Ishita. The husband was all worried and fuzzing over his wife's health. He wasn't ready to leave her side due to her pregnant state. Ishita was indeed happy to see such a loving couple but then her inner self couldn't stop from thinking about her own married life. Her husband wasn't interested in her and that was the bitter reality of her marriage. Again oblivious to her logical self, she longed to have such a loving bond with Raman. But well, she sighed deeply thinking that she had chosen this life and also that every void and pain in her life fell short when it came to the happiness that Ruhi gave her. She would never blame Raman because he was quite clear when they married. It was just for Ruhi and what was his fault if she had started wishing for a normal marriage.
She sighed deeply consoling herself that it was Ruhi's absence that gave her all such crazy and silly thoughts. Just 2 days more and Ruhi would come back to her. With her return, all these stupid thoughts would leave her forever. She smiled as she looked into Ruhi's photo on her mobile but she couldn't control her fingers from sliding to the next photo in which her husband stood smiling next to Ruhi. She glided her fingers across his face and heaved, she missed both of them badly, Ruhi was away from her physically and Raman, even if near by was miles away from her emotionally.

Next morning...
She was in the kitchen mixing the dough for his parathas. He was reading the newspaper in the living room but his glances darted to her often. She ignored his presence totally and was fully engrossed in her work.
Her saree pallu wasn't pleated and pinned up together. So each time, she nudged the dough to mix properly, the loose pleats kept falling down hindering her work. She smacked herself for not having pinned it properly or having missed to tuck it into her waist.
He noticed her inconvenience and also her fretting over it as she tried to move it up using her dough smeared hands.
He didn't think further but just walked next to her and took the pallu end in his hands. She realized his presence and also understood what he was intending to do. She spoke up instantly, "Raman aap rehne dho...main karlungi..." and tried to take the pallu end from his hands.
He dodged her hands disagreeing to let go of it. He didn't leave the end till he turned her around to him and without the slightest hesitation, tucked the saree pallu into her waist.
Soon after he was done with it, he naughtily voiced, "Ishitaaa, aisa koyi kaam ho toh bathaa dena...I am here to help"
He walked to the room without waiting for her reply as he could see that she was dumbed and numb all over, stunned by what he did.
All she could do was exhale out a deep breath which she had held back when his fingers touched and slightly caressed her bare waist. In a moment, he had caused a storm inside her body.
Of all people in the world, her husband's conspiracy against her logical sense and sanity was the last thing she ever wanted.
