Arshicsji, great bytes and even more so your love and sense of loyalty towards the show as well as your admirers. Initially I was not much enthusiastic about the hackneyed idea of memory loss of the lead character. However I believed the concept has the capacity to develop into a substantial track and also a potential source of conflict between the two leads. But now it has been turned into an absolute farce. The amnesia track if handled reasonably would have explored another facet of samud characters and their relationship, provided poignant and emotional experience for the viewers and also extracted brilliant performances from the actors. Of late I liked only 2 episodes (full-on samud, just before the mishap). Both were executed sensibly with poignancy in some measure and romance in a large measure. Be it saras-kumud or saras-jw, both are able to achieve the crackling chemistry and charm.
Today I managed to catch the last 3 episodes to have an idea of how they go about this senseless storyline. Height of insensitivity, thoughtlessness and irresponsibility. On top of that, gumaan's act was an onslaught on the viewers' senses. In the original version she was just a selfish, conceited and manipulative woman. So the choice was apt and she too did justice to it to a reasonable extent. After her comeback she was resurrected as a gruesome killer with premeditation which is not her forte. With her crazy antics she made the act hideous. In order to develop the revenge plot kabir's character was concocted out of nowhere. Similarly now 'the dead' saraswathima comes alive but with a cliche twist. (As such the new saras has no remnants of his mother except on his name). This fabrication would demean the old version which primarily dealt with saras's deeply disturbing nightmares and the events that were relived with all the accompanying trauma. In this new storyline the performances of the leads are sketchy. For the 1st time in the storytelling scene I could see only GR, no traces of saras. Also GR's portrayal of saras who is now said to be on a mission (kumud's recovery), is not at all intense and convincing, rather comes off as relaxed and zealous. Jen on the other hand is quite noncommittal. The actors with ambition have been trapped in this script for long which meanders without any vision and objective. Here I would like to revisit my comment on jyo's post a couple of days ago. Instead of taking pains to recollect and rewrite I simply do the 'edit & paste'.It is unfortunate that we are dealing with a bunch of skilled(!) dodgers in the name of writers who persistently evade their responsibility and commitment. The downfall of the show is purely due to the lack of intent more than anything else. The (un)creatives have thoroughly lost the plot and their direction. The laziness from each and every one could be seen on screen for quite some thing!! In a nutshell it's an opportunity wasted. They fulfilled our wish, we got what we asked for. Saras is back to life (wish they don't meddle with it again). To concoct the new storyline they had three options before them. 1. the much awaited memory loss sequence which offered some solid scope for the future course of events in a fairly sensible manner inspite of it being a cliched route. Only with this storyline we can root for intense, emotional and romantic samud. 2. To restore saras to his sound health and proceed to deal with kumud's trauma and in the process explore samud relationship along with tracking down the next villain in line (gumaan?) and then perfectly ending the show with samud kushkabri and kabir shaadi. 3. The fake amnesia track which is a pointless exercise and the scope and potential is very much limited, almost negligible. So the cvs have finally picked the 3rd option and it is now going on the expected lines. The worst part is that it will adversely affect the performance of the leads leading to mediocrity. They may even adopt the same hamhanded approach of the Mumbai track and bring everything to a close in a sudden and hurried way. Also because of this senseless and unconvincing concept viewers can not connect to samud emotionally and as a result samud scenes may not click with the audience. In short, my thoughts :1. I regard this as character butchery of saras.2. Wish arshiji and you were writing for the show. It would be a fine combination of substance, subtlety, humour and creativityThis cut and paste thing is to reaffirm 2 points. i.e what I strongly feel is more than the creative bankruptcy it is the lack of intent on their part. Secondly if not for your posts the show would have been so much poorer. So sincerely wish you were writing for the show.Want to add 2 more thoughts :3. My request to cvs :- for the remaining days please retain only samud, dugba and danny in the show and oust the rest of the cast from the show.4. Please confirm the show's closure. We can watch the rest of the tamaasha at peace.Once again thank you for the daily update in your unique style.
