Rajesh Sharma not out of danger after suspected insect bite, family issues health update

Actor Rajesh Sharma has been admitted to a hospital in Kolkata after reportedly suffering an insect bite while shooting for an upcoming film starring Prabhas. According to a statement shared by actor Sudipa Chatterjee on behalf of his family, Rajesh is currently under medical observation at Manipal Hospital in Dhakuria after his condition worsened following the incident.

The statement said Rajesh was shooting at Ramoji Film City when he was reportedly bitten by an insect, possibly a bug or a poisonous spider. After the day's shoot, he was interacting with local technicians in an area surrounded by dense vegetation when he felt the bite. As it did not appear serious at the time, he did not seek immediate treatment.

However, around six hours later, the actor developed severe pain in his right leg and began feeling unwell. Despite his condition, he boarded a flight to Kolkata. During the journey, he reportedly developed a high fever, became increasingly restless and his health deteriorated further. He was admitted to hospital the following day.

The note added that the infection has spread from his toes to his knee, with large blisters forming on the affected leg. It also stated that Rajesh continues to experience high fever and breathlessness. Quoting Dr Avijit Bhattacharya, the statement said, "It is too early to make any definite assessment. Rajesh remains under close observation and is not yet out of danger."

The family further said doctors are closely monitoring him because of concerns that complications could lead to a blood clot, which could become life threatening if it reaches the lungs. Medical investigations and treatment are currently underway, with further updates expected after doctors complete their assessment.

The statement concluded by thanking everyone for their support during this difficult time. "We sincerely thank everyone for their love, prayers, and support... On behalf of Rajesh Sharma's mother and the entire family, we express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has stood by us."

Prabhas is currently working on multiple projects, including Fauzi, directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, and Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. It has not been confirmed on which film's set the incident took place. Rajesh Sharma was most recently seen in Bhooth Bangla and Krishnavataram Part 1: The Heart (Hridayam).
