'Before Dhurandhar, After Dhurandhar': Saif Ali Khan's Big Statement Grabs Attention

Saif Ali Khan has joined the growing list of voices applauding Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar franchise. Speaking in a recent interview, the actor said the films have had a lasting impact on Indian cinema, particularly because of the way they approached music and storytelling.

During a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter India, Saif shared how the franchise has influenced his outlook towards films and scripts. "I see a time before Dhurandhar and a time after. It's up to us whether we catch up or not and wake up or not. It seems like an obvious idea to make amazing music rather than creating a new album for each film, and to draw on all kinds of things from all around the world, while not being too frightened of English also."

The actor also spoke about the soundtrack, which featured a mix of original songs alongside recreated and remixed tracks. Both Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar: The Revenge carried forward that musical approach, with composer Shashwat Sachdev delivering songs that found strong acceptance among listeners and dominated streaming platforms following their release.

Saif also highlighted Shararat, the dance number featuring Ayesha Khan and Krystle D'Souza, and explained why he believes it stands apart. "Something as revolutionary as that, imagine if that was to change the way of hiring a beautiful leading lady to do an 'item' for you. If you just treat it as a song and have these two girls performing as you would in a wedding, it doesn't jar the eyes at all."

Released in December 2025 and March 2026, the two Dhurandhar films emerged among the biggest commercial successes in recent years, earning more than Rs 3,100 crore worldwide. The sequel also became the second highest grossing Indian film of all time. Besides Ranveer Singh, the franchise featured Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Rakesh Bedi and Sara Arjun.

Saif was last seen in the Netflix film Kartavya. He will next be seen in Hum Hindustani and Priyadarshan's Haiwaan, which reunites him with Akshay Kumar after nearly two decades.
