THat is because all the characters are either middle aged or kids. There is no person to fall in love. Everything else in that is already larger than life.

Once romance enters the show, it excites certain group and they want more of it and if denied start dissing the show. I have stopped watching many of these shows because of this. Hero carrying the heroine, the rain scenes(dancing to filmy tunes),the coy heroine suddenly wearing revealing skimpy dress and the resulting wet dreams.😆 Difficult to watch with parents.

Nobody likes just romantic stuff. Families never like it. This is why pure romantic shows never get consistently good trps. I watch EHT with family. I changed the channel on that barsaat ki raat episode. Even rape flashback was too much though EHT showed nothing.

You gave good example of TMKOC. No romance or badla. Yet top of charts. Earlier it was Khichdi, Sarabhai vs Sarabhai.

I remember Zee had started Love Stories show in 90s. They had to change it to Rishtey and cover all sorts of relationships otherwise show was struggling to survive.

You're quite right that romance attracts a certain group only and they start dissing a show once it shifts focus from romance. Rather go around saying that show is boring and not worth watching anymore.

When a show has to show romance they even do it among kids, labelling it bachpan ka pyar/bandhan. Or cause affairs between middle aged and married couples, take a leap and add younger actors to show luv. TMKOC hasn't even taken a leap to show luv stories of grown up kids. Still doing well.

TMKOC cannot show immorality because moral preaching is what gives them bread and butter. As for the kids, they are old enough to fall in love now but according to storyline they are not even teenagers. Love cannot be shown there and that is the only reason they aren't showcasing love there. One couple we have is of Bagha and Bawri, just in case have you seen is something beyond the concept of'larger than life'😆. In one track we find Bulbul marrying Popat and then waiting for Rahul to come to marry her again. This particular track has been tagged as unethical by the viewers but there also we had Popat giving the so called' Qurbaani'. Overall, lets not compare TMKOC, lets take any other story where we have young people. Remember what old Lapataganj was and its new transformation ? Before, Surili and Biji used to romance. It was not cliched but was really refreshing, then they got them married without a gauna and then every day they were doing the same thing. In the leap, we have now Chuku as a teenager trying his hands on 'first love' and many other characters who are somehow trying to fall in love.

Tad bit of romance maybe okay. But not full episodes dedicated to rains, flashbacks, accidental touches, eyelocks blah blah. Every show has its genre and should focus on that. Aise toh there is one romantic song in Anand also but that film never deviates from its theme.

No, I never said I am against romance . I also said Swades is my fav movie . I was talking about comparisons. I only mean TMKOC is incomparable to such shows
