Actor Sandeepa Dhar may not have headlined Do Deewane Seher Mein, but she quietly became one of its most talked about performers. While the Siddhant Chaturvedi and Mrunal Thakur starrer received decent reviews yet underperformed at the box office, Dhar’s portrayal of Naina struck a strong chord with audiences.
Playing Mrunal Thakur’s on screen sister, Dhar brought vulnerability, humour and emotional weight to a role that could have easily been sidelined. Instead, Naina emerged as one of the film’s most relatable characters.
To be honest, working with Mrunal is a bit annoying (laughs) because she does these things and makes it look very effortless

The Sister Bond That Stood Out
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhbR-ttX-Dw&t=69sIn Do Deewane Seher Mein, Sandeepa’s Naina shares a deeply affectionate bond with Mrunal’s Roshni. Their relationship forms the emotional spine of the narrative. Amid romantic tension and personal turmoil, it is the sisterhood that feels authentic and warm.
Naina is not just the glamorous sibling. Beneath her composed exterior lies someone constantly battling expectations. The film explores how she struggles with societal pressure to remain thin and flawless. Much of that pressure comes from within her own family. The character’s inner conflict adds layers to what could have been a straightforward supporting part.
Audiences responded strongly to this nuance. Social media conversations frequently singled out Dhar’s performance as a highlight, even when reactions to the overall film were mixed.
‘Working With Mrunal Is A Bit Annoying

Her answer began with a playful confession.
"To be honest, working with Mrunal is a bit annoying (laughs) because she does these things and makes it look very effortless. And I find it very annoying when actors are very effortless. And trust me when I say, it's not effortless. She's put in a lot of work to make it look effortless. She's operating on another level, firstly. I think she's a beautiful actor and I think it's just her energy and her soul. And the way she reflects in her eyes. She's also a very easy person and that really helps because when I was playing Naina, and I would randomly improvise and say things, like even that whole chips thing, it was improvised. We just did it randomly. I hit my hand and I said, stop eating and it's going to, you know, it won't act. She just played along so easily. She didn't say no, but your line wasn't there. You know, a lot of actors would be like, you have to let me know in advance if you're going to improvise. She's not like that. She just plays along. And I think that just shows what an amazing, you know, actor she is. I also believe when you have a certain level of an actor also na, it only enhances your performance as well. She brings that to the table."
The playful “annoying” remark quickly caught attention online, but it was clear that the comment came from admiration rather than frustration.
Improvisation And Ease On Set
One of the most charming revelations from Dhar’s interview was how organically some of their scenes came together. The now popular chips moment was not scripted in detail. It emerged spontaneously during filming.
According to Dhar, the comfort level between them allowed such improvisation to flourish. There was no hesitation, no ego, no resistance. That creative freedom often translates into authenticity on screen, and viewers could feel it.
Their off screen equation appears to have directly strengthened their on screen dynamic. When actors trust each other, scenes breathe differently. That sense of ease was visible in every shared frame between Naina and Roshni.
Love For Performance Despite Box Office Outcome
Although Do Deewane Seher Mein did not perform as expected commercially, the appreciation for Sandeepa Dhar has been consistent. In many ways, the film has amplified her presence among audiences who may not have previously noticed her range.
The story may not have set the cash registers ringing, but Dhar’s portrayal ensured that her character lingered long after the credits rolled
With her candid remarks and growing recognition, Sandeepa Dhar seems to be stepping into a phase where performance speaks louder than numbers.
