@Zaya
It is about being focused on a goal. And here goal is revenge.
Rather it is unrealistic for someone who lost her parents, saw her sister raped and tortured, lost her own face and identity - to forget everything and fall in love and go romance mode with a guy from the same family that ruined her. And a guy who remained missing for years despite being a bestie. I do not expect Durga to understand him because even we as audience do not have sufficient explanation of how Dev was away and out of touch with each thing.

I never said she should forget everything in fact I am saying let the story be focused on the revenge but there is nothing wrong with a love story at the side too.

wow...I've not been rude before this, but you have. Yes I like beintehaa and it is a love story but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate a good story.

Your ID is just a reference. Otherwise my opinion is based on your posts only. Generally IF ones seem to be only about love stories and that's what I made this topic for whether EHT or other shows. I have written enough in opening post and other posts in this thread to explain context of my argument. Not going to repeat anything.
Show is going marriage way as per promo so be happy.

I think that in spite of its concept as an original show, most viewers feel like a serial is incomplete without romance. Yeah, it's cliched, it's annoying, but it will always be there.

Even in the promos for Ramadan, they had the two main leads giving their greetings to the audience. They are like an unofficial pair.

Most of the shows on television these days revolve around romance. So even if this one is about "revenge", fans still want their little romantic pair on the side. They want a breather from the constant taking down of people and some "love" being shown besides between father-daughter.

Look at Bollywood, they have plenty of revenge-themed movies but they know tickets won't sell without the almighty romantic pair. You're right, 3 Idiots did well but I feel it was an exception to the rule. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag did well also, extremely well and they had to throw in some small romantic scenes there too.

Even with shows like Nach Baliye, the contestants have to be involved with each other. I mean, they can't be shown to be just "dancing" and competing with the other pairs, it has to be about the romantic angle as well.

So I think romance has its place. Shows come and shows go from the screen, but the ones that last are those that cater to their romantic-minded fans.

Journeys of couples are there to watch in other loads of romantic shows.

Every show need not be swamped and dumbed down by romance.

Cinevistaas made epic shows like Junoon in past that had family drama, business rivalry and crime all woven fabulously well together. Not a single moment in that show was hollow, irrelevant or drag.

Unlike waste episodes now.

Once romance enters the show, it excites certain group and they want more of it and if denied start dissing the show. I have stopped watching many of these shows because of this. Hero carrying the heroine, the rain scenes(dancing to filmy tunes),the coy heroine suddenly wearing revealing skimpy dress and the resulting wet dreams.😆 Difficult to watch with parents.

The reason I said a love story will make it realistic is because it is almost impossible to find someone so focused on revenge that other emotions don't come in the way. Dev and Nitya were best friends and after finding out that Dev is innocent Durga's reaction towards him seemed unusually emotionless. And I don't think it has to be larger than life, it can (and actually already is) be an element of this story.

Anger and love are two most used emotion, did you know it ? The stories of avenging someone is so common that he has become the bread earning thing for Indian journalists. Just take a look in the morning newspaper and you will know the 'real' stories of revenge.
Basically, Love has been given rather more importance in telly soaps and that is the question here. You may love someone or hate someone , that is not the question, the question is why has love be the only thing in Tv series ? It doesnt have to be larger than life-- agreed but that's how it is shown in the Tv series. Can you name me atleast one such show where love is not'larger than life '? I haven't seen any so far.
