Would a Black person (of African ancestry) be accepted in Bollywood?

It's a question that I've been thinking about recently. People of Caucasian and Hispanic background are very easily accepted into Bollywood.
Yes many of them tend to be mixed, but many of them are not. But the ones with more european features are given more privilege and benefit of the doubt. I am not saying that they are MORE successful, but they are given that initial open door and chance to even be in bollywood.

Lets not try to be all politically correct. In all honesty, would directors and film wale give the benefit of the doubt to someone of African descent?? What if they are not mixed, not light skinned, and are dark skinned? Hell, indian girls with dark skin are given a hard time, how would a Black person be given the benefit of the doubt? This can refer to people from an African country, or from the Caribbean Islands, etc.

there are beauties in every race. Say for example a Black beautiful woman, who watches bollywood, can brush up on hindi, can dance, can act, wants to join bollywood. Would she be given a fair chance and benefit of the doubt? Or is that limited to foreigners with light skin only.

And I for one condone foreigners working in bollywood, given that they deserve it. Some people who I feel deserve it (imo):
katrina kaif (good screen presence, dances like a dream)
dia mirza (no particular reason, just liked her a lot from childhood)
ellie avram. her acting is still questionable but she just started. her hindi is already so good

but then there are the plethora of others given the benefit of the doubt, and allowed to work despite lack of many redeeming qualities other than their looks and white skin (evelyn sharma, amy jackson, giselle monteiro, izebelle leite) and on and on

so what say? shouldn't the "foreigners should work in bollywood" be extended to both sides of the color spectrum?

DISCLAIMER: These are my merely my own opinions, so don't jump on my throat. feel free to post your views too.

I honestly don't know.

But if someone like Lupita N'yongo who is a breath takingly beautiful woman, just not in the traditional BW way with the long hair and fair skin. and with her talent and training decides to come to BW, I hope doors open for her. If not it is BW's loss, not theirs.

Nope

But do they even want to? They usually aim higher(Hollywood).
Do you think Lupita would want to be in BW, when she has a chance to get into Hollywood and win an oscar?

I don't think that it's happening anytime soon. First the darker skinned Indians need to be accepted before even thinking about a dark skinned african actor. Not happening anytime soon.

Bollywood actually has a big market in some African countries
@meribaat: well i definitely agree on that. But to a bollywood director's eyes, if she wasn't already famous in hollywood, would doors definitely open for her?

@ RoAya: not really. do you think every white person tries to get into hollywood? No, some who can't do that aim lower for bollywood. Imagine a Black woman who aims lower than hollywood, or may just like bollywood better.

all in all, i highly doubt a Black woman would get even the chance an Evelyn Sharma gets.

many brown people i've met has a feeling of superiority over Black people, unfortunately 😕

Kajol is very dark . One of my cousin had seen her in hospital with no makeup , she is really dark , even rani , deepika are dark . I dont think color matters . So many whites are mere used a back dancers in movies . Or a sundry charecters in a movie . Does anybody remember the guy who played katrinas love intrest in nsmaste london . He was good looking . But no chance in bollywood.

Well atleast some real africans are hired to play the role of a black person. I still remember seeing some songs where the background dancers' faces were painted black with afros to pass them off as black ppl.
I was watching Fashion with family & still remember one of my aunts being grossed out abt PC sleeping with that black guy rather than the fact that she slept around with a random stranger. It will take several generations to change this mindset.

Also as light_year pointed, white guys are not as easily accepted in BW as white girls.

@Bold
Lupita has a master's from Yale School of Drama. Assuming someone unproven came to BW with those sort of credentials, doors should open to them. But the reality is it won't and they will not get to meet people like Adi or Karan like a starkid like Alia or Jhanvi could.

@Red
Very true. Most desi would have a fit if their kids date AA . Hispanic maybe, but inter racial most prefer caucasian or other Asian.

As for posts saying people like Kajol, Rani being dark and in the industry, I do not think Kajol or Rani would have had the mainstream career or opportunities they had were they not from film families. They would have had to become "character" actors to have a career.
