It's an extremely touching/emotional movie...
Athough it takes a lot of elements of Helen Keller's life, one crucial thing got changed: Helen Keller's teacher who taught her reading and writing and 'proper' sign language so that she could even study and getting a bachelor degree, was a woman (Ann Sullivan).
Helen Keller (an American, born 1880) was a fascinating woman (she died 1968)... btw, one of her anchesters of her father's side (Swiss) had been the first teacher for deaf children and adults in Switzerland (sign language).
