Kapoor are playing a major
gamble. According to sources,
the channel is planning to extend
the show Bade Achhe Lagte Hain
beyond May when it was first
supposed to go off air then. But
at the same time, we hear that
the creative department are
planning to replace Ram Kapoor,
who plays the lead protagonist
by the same name. The casting
for the new face is on, according
to a source. The channel is forced
to continue with the show for
the moment as none of their
shows like Desh Ki Beti Nandini
and Main Naa Bhoolungi have
clicked. Hence, they don't want to
take a risk by taking off a show
that gives good ratings and
bring in a new show which
might click or not.
One of the reasons being touted
for Ram's replacement could be
that he has his hands full with
films and can't devote enough
time for TV. A source says that
even now he hardly shoots for
Bade Achhe Lagte Hain and cheat
shots have to be used often as
Ram is not available.
The source further adds that the
channel's research team has
indicated that the current love
triangle between Ekta Kaul
( Suhani), Sonia Balani ( Pihu) and
Yuvraj Thakur ( Sammy) was not
really clicking with the audiences. That's why a leap is being
planned. But Yuvraj, who has quit
the show, maintains that he quit
as he was not happy with his
track. However, the real truth is
that he did not want to play the
father of Pihu's adult daughter
post the big leap.
" The decision regarding the leap
is not final. If it does happen, I
will not be happy but unlike
Yuvraj who quit, I will prefer to
negotiate with my favourite
production house," says Sonia.
But Ekta denied any knowledge
about a possible leap and
replacement of Ram Kapoor.
We sent text messages to Ekta
Kapoor and Ram but they didn't
revert. We also tried to touch
base with Sony Business head
Sneha Rajani but she was
unavailable for comment.
