If I wanted to hear Shankar only, I would listen to a concert or a music programme by him and I would enjoy it, I am sure.

It is not against the rules, but I think it was clear that we weren't expecting the "judges" to come down and sing so much. It has been billed as a contest among the winners of other reality shows, with "mentors"...going down to do the job yourself is hardly mentoring.
And some of these poor contestants we have hardly heard at all...just there to warm the seats or something.

When the are picking on sur, and "josh", and what nots, jumping in to defend somebody who did NOT KNOW the song at all is not what it should be about.

Has any judge been awarded less than a 10 on any performance, however good or bad?
So then, to repeat myself, I should say lets leave the contestants to do the backing chorus, all the judges to sing all the rounds, and have a six-way tie!

I would have been as angry as Shaan, but expressed it differently, perhaps...

i agree with you, and i think, thats not the fault of shankar that the MKMM incharge have not deviced a set of rule on the amount of time a judge can come.. if they have not set a rule and have allowed the captains to come, thats their fault, not the fault of the captain..
no one has stopped shaan from coming two times, three times.. his team is the strongest, he has singers to back him up, if shankar felt like to come two times, he did that.. he can do that for his team. In a cricket match, the captain can do anything he wants, he can allow himself to come and bowl, or ask his player to come.. its totally up to him and the way he sees the success of him team. this act should not be blown up out of its proportions. "Everything is fair in love and war" and shankar was definitely within the rule book.. so i don't agree with you to blame shankar here.

On the second point, HR supports his team all the time, he shouts, he screams, he tries to manipulate the audience... even Shaan does that too... i think thats the right of the captain, he can defend his team members.. so what if shankar supported his team members?.. he just gave his opinion on the performance..

So, basically i believe that the MKMM team should have devised appropriate rules. The captains hardly use their chupa rustams - just for the reason that they are not stage-trained or popular, so i think the MKMM team should create a rule, that contestants should not be repeated twice in one match, whether its a captain or a member, with the exception of the medley part.

I hope my points are clear. Thanks for sharing your views.

very unfair. judges are so partial to Shaan. I dont expect from shreya to give 9 Rahul. Mika and other judges may be do this because they are jelous. we love Shankarji but in this match we feel he and his team is a cheater.Shaan is Right.

Of course Shaan reacts more but it is for judges only. because they support Shankars cheating. even tnot only they support it but hey give Rahul full points also . this is too reduculous. Shaan has the Best team and he is the Winner for Us. sangeet ka mahamukabla he ye not a stage where you only perform.

i agree with you.. i think things have been deliberately made Ambiguous and vague.. so that such 'drama' can take place.. the MKMM team is to blamed definitely..

Somone & nithyak:

i agree that rules are kept deliberately vague.

I live in a part of the world with no direct access to indian tv, so I watch this on the internet, and I have to admit I have seen very little of the fights & arguments & introductions...just skip from song to song; and then when the score flashes up.

Ok..my two cents here...
Shaan was totally justified in making an issue out of it.
Let me just jot down my reasons. You have the right to disagree with me.But, I have the right to express my opinion too.

I have always found Shaan as a very upright, just and a very sensible person. He always came across a very calm and collected person who has his heart and head in the right places.

Shaan always supports what is just. The first verbal disagreement that took place between Shaan and Mr know-it-all Mika Singh was when Shaan supported SHANKAR in the first episode itself. Shaan could have kept quiet like other diplomatic judges and he had nothing to lose. He chose to speak what he felt instead. I started admiring his courage from then on..

Shaan gives equal chance to all his team members to come forward and showcase their talent. He, too could have used the loopholes of the rules of the show and made things totally in his favor. He and Anwesha together could have rocked the show and won hands down. Instead, he grooms each and every contestant, gives equal weightage to them in that faulty format and makes sure that the contestants get noticed.

Shankar is a very talented musician. But, most of the people don't approve of the way he is exploiting the faulty rules of the show to get victory. He only chooses Rahul Vaidya to represent his team. These contestants were very lucky as they were chosen in Shankar's team. If Shankar gave them the chance to sing, found out their faults. groomed their talent and taught them about the nuances of music, they would have cherished and treasured it lifelong.

Shankar's rockstars most certainly wouldn't consider MKMM as a milestone in their musical journey in the present circumstances. Neeti simply comes and sits there as a pretty doll. I can't even remember the name of Shankar's chhupa rustam because he came on stage only twice.
I would like to mention that Sharib was a good singer in the Challenge 2005 days. But, didn't get get to hear him after that. Looks like his singing skills have gone downhill ever since. The dedication, the passion that he had for music got replaced by arrogance, conceit and a 'don't care' attitude.
Sharib alone would have won the competition if it was 'arrogance ka maha muqqabla'. But, he has company. Rahul is giving him a tough competition and it is hard to decide as to who is outdoing whom in terms of arrogance.

In the medley round Shankar and all his singers sing. But, being a stupendous singer that Shankar is, he just overpowers the other team members and 95% of credit for his awesome medley rounds goes to him alone and the rest 5% goes to Mr Vaidya.

Shankar is an asset to the Indian music industry and he has nothing to prove there on the MKMM stage. He should help to bring out the best in his singers, and give them equal chance to prove their mettle on the stage. Shankar as a musician is far more beyond this stage and by competing against the contestants he is defeating the purpose of this competition.

Now, coming to the Neeti forgetting lyrics episode, I fully agree with Shaan that it was 'not being prepared for the song' .
If you watch the episode carefully, Rahul sang the first half of the song and then Neeti took over. She seemed to be very uncomfortable from the beginning and after finishing a single line all by herself, she gestured Rahul with her hand to join her which he did but he stopped in between. Neeti carried on for some more seconds and then totally gave up. Rahul tried to prompt her after a pause and somehow finished the song.

It was fine till then. When Shankar tried to cover up the blunder with a very trite 'presence of mind' phrase and all the judges seemed to agree, Shaan got upset and started expressing disagreement. He was totally right in saying that Shankar need not justify this as he was already leading.
Shaan was totally right about that. Shankar totally got the point and realised that because he supported a wrong thing, shaan was upset. Contd in next post...

I genuinely feel that Shaan was right. Amaaya was given low marks time and again and the judges justified their action on the ground of 'him having less JOSH'. The judges can justify their bad decisions on the ground of vague reasons like ' sang with less josh', 'aapka gaana dilko chhunya nahin'. 'I couldn't connect to the song' and all those reasons. Then how can they ignore a very concrete reason like 'forgetting lyrics' ?
Shaan just spoke against the double standards of the judges and Shankar's support for an unfair and unjust thing initially.

Shreya then intervenes with her point that in a duet, the female singer can sing only two lines and that she had done it previously. She was probably referring to her 'Dheere jalna' song from 'Paheli'. But, that was the MDs discretion to allot two lines to her in that song.
Shankar should have chosen the' dheere jalna' song if he thought that Neeti should be given less portions in a duet because she can't pull it off. 'Abhi naa jao chhodkar' has both Rafi saab and Lata didi lending their voice equally and that's what makes it a musical treat.
You can't manipulate and distort the balance of a song just to cover somebody's faults and shortcomings. That's about it and Shaan was saying that only.

Then to make things worse, Mika raised the irrelevant point of audience remembering what Neeti forgot. That was totally pointless. Shaan was fighting alone against these many people and after this stupid point he totally lost his cool.

If I were to sing on a big stage like this , I would do my homework and go up there. Neeti wrote the lyrics on her palm and still she couldn't manage finishing the song. Shaan was right. The studio audience was not there singing that song. Why will they have the lyrics by heart? They don't even have any idea what song is gonna come up next.

Mika is proving to be a very irritating person. I didn't at all like the way he belittled Mohit on his Raaga knowledge. Mika Singh is a joker who thinks he is the next Kumar Gandharva of classical music...After seeing him I realised why people say that fools rush in where angels fear to tread 😆.

He provoked Shaan beyond limits with his antics but I am glad that the audience saw through it. Mohit managed to support Shaan for sometime but didn't dare to oppose Shankar when it came to marks.

The singer judges are influenced by the MDs but audience has affiliation to none..They are free to do whatever they like and they did by giving the Rahul Neeti duet a well deserved 7.5 on ten 👏.

Neeti, I felt bad for you after watching the episode. You forgot the lyrics and a big chaos ensued. You were apologizing to Shaan time and again. But, Shaan was not angry with you because of you forgetting the lyrics.
Shaan was upset because the stalwarts of the present music industry were supporting something wrong.
My suggestion to you would be to do your homework properly before coming on the stage.
I don't blame you fully also for being in the competition in a half hearted manner. You don't have any involvement and representation in the team. Other than Rahul Vaidya, all the Shankar's rockstars get to come on stage and represent their team so less frequently and so erratically that there is no team spirit at all.

shaan could have just thought about his affiliations with Shanakar and kept quiet. But, am glad he had the guts to speak the truth.
Shaan, hats off to you for standing up for what you thought to be right. Only a genuine person can speak with such conviction and get away with so much support 👏 👏.

Good post. 😊

Sung by Rafi saab and Asha Tai. 😳
