I don't think there is anything wrong in adopting a child if the whole process is part of the story and is shown in a proper way rather than just inserting characters randomly and expecting all other characters in the show to accept them from Day 1.
Infact, instead of showing Abhira go through high risk pregnancy or IVF process, they should have shown AbhiMaan adopting a child legally that time.
