Drabble: To let go

It was easier to let go of Pragya than Tannu, if Abhi thought about it.

And that's what he did, when he needed to make that decision.

Tannu was in his life before Pragya, he had shared a bed with her too.

His marriage to Pragya was a sham, and he never made real promises to her.

But that wasn't exactly why it was easier for him to let go Pragya.

It was because Pragya would understand, him, his situation and everything. Tannu never would.

Pragya would never create problems for him, Tannu would destroy it all.

But it wasn't exactly Pragya who made it all easy for him. It was himself.

All he had to do was to ignore him, ignore what he wanted.

He could always claim he never believed in the matters of heart, so it was a good excuse to shut his heart down.

So that day, he said it all. He told Pragya that he couldn't love her and would want to marry Tannu whom he had promised way before.

Pragya's reaction was exactly what he had expected. She had understood him and agreed to let him go. As easy as that.

But he was strangely happy to be with her in the same emotional space, where his heart was massacred when he broke hers.

That night, she came to his room for one last time.

He didn't dare to look at her, didn't move from the place he sat on the bed. He thought he would explode if he moved a finger.

But she broke the silence and told him she would leave the next morning, she would slowly make the elders understand that they were not meant to be.

He wanted to say something, just as a revolt to what she said.

He told her he should be the one she would think of if she got into any trouble ever, he would give her his anything, his life.

She knew he meant it.

All she wanted was him, but she knew she still couldn't ask for him.

But she still decided to ask him one thing to keep her dying heart breathing.

She asked him if she could sleep in his arms for one night.

And he was dying to hold her in his arms.

He stretched his arms out for her and she ran into them.

He knew this was wrong for her and for Tannu and for him.

But it was beyond him.

He was going to worry about letting her go later, because it was the most precious moment of his life.

This one may be your best one yet - it just has that special something you know. Just the perfect blend of pathos, romance, yearning, need, desire and the sense of letting go. This is the second time my heart broke😭 you guys are brilliant writers. I wish we could see something like this in the show. 😭
