CHOICES
Abhi Mehra, the rockstar was forced to make a choice.
He had fought even his destiny when he was put through hardships and asked to give up on his dreams. But he hadn't budged.
But now his girlfriend had given him an ultimatum to make a choice.
It was between her and his wife, the wife whom he did not consider a wife.
But choosing his girlfriend also meant choosing against his Daadi, choosing against the trust of his wife's family, choosing against a bunch of things he believed in.
He had told her that choosing her would make a lot of people suffer, and would harm his career too, and this wasn't the time for all that.
But she hadn't cared. She just wanted her wishes to be fulfilled.
But what were her wishes when he had asked her to marry him? She had refused him. And he hadn't suffocated her with choices at that time.
But now he felt suffocated.
On the other hand, his wife had gotten to know about his girlfriend's wishes. And she had told him that he was free to make the choice he wanted. She had told him she could convince his Daadi and her folks that they were not meant to be. She had told him to choose whatever that made him happy.
She had every chance to put him in more trouble. She had Daadi by her side. She was legally and socially bound to him. Yet, she was ready to set him free.
And he had always loved his freedom. He did things for people out of love, not out of force.
Talking of love, he had never believed in dreamy love. Yes, he had told his girlfriend he loved her and would marry her. But he knew it wasn't unusual for people break up- people broke up after decades of staying together, after marriages, after having kids, and this was just a girlfriend of over a year.
And to think of it, he wasn't even attached to this girlfriend. He could remember being emotionally bound to his first girlfriend a lot more than this.
So, it wasn't worth it.
If she could force him to make choices today, she would do that later too. She would ask him to make choices when he gave attention to his Daadi, his career, his friends and a lot of things. He knew she was capable of that.
And that was the moment he made his choice. He wasn't sure if he was choosing his wife, but he was definitely not going to choose his girlfriend.
He made a call to her and when she did not pick up his call, he left a message.
"Hi Tannu, you asked me to choose and here I choose. I choose everything but you. Good bye."
