Hi Lakshmi
I am not trying to either white wash Vicki's intentions or his deeds. Just trying to see why he says and does the things that he does.
For a middle class family to break their PF prematurely is really something big. It was their only financial security since Mamiji was a full time house wife with no accomplishments of her own and Vicki was just a kid even younger than Dev when this happened. Mamaji of course did a noble thing when he saved Ria's life with this action. But what if something had happened to him soon after that? What would have happened to their family? Ishwari and Dev would have of course taken their responsibility too. But I can very well understand the resentment that they would have felt by this action. Vicki even after 20+ years is still hurt thinking about this. The resentment that both Vicki and Mamiji feels is deep rooted and they have their reasons which is very much valid for them. And this could have been avoided if mamaji had handled the matters differently. It doesn't take much to appreciate your efforts. What Neha felt in the Dixit family, Vicki and mamiji felt at their home too.
By the time the Tripati's entered the Dixit house their resentment had already escalated to them feeling entitled to everything the Dixits own. So whatever Dixits did out of goodness of their heart was felt like something that they deserved coming to them.
During those 7 years when Dev was lost, Vicki tried to be like Dev whom his father always wanted him to be like. It was a role reversal for them. Dev became Vicki and Vicki became Dev. The similarity between their reversed forms were just superficial since at the core they remained the same. Vicki did try his best donning Dev's shoes. But it never fitted him. He didn't get the same result and everyone knew that he was just a dummy who got that position being Dev's brother. But this truth was not palatable for him and he even tried illegal means to be like Dev.
When RR took over the charge of the house which was handed over to her by Ishwari their family was completely lost. The Tripati's wanted the control through Ishwari. When Sona left they expected Ishwari to regain that control over Dev and there by they thought they will play both of them like puppets. But what happened was something none of them expected. Dev was completely out of control and Ishwari withdraw into a shell. The sisters all left one by one and the complete control went to the Tripati's. They took that control and run the house smoothly with Dev's money of course but it was a demanding job. They did put in the effort. What Dev or Vicki did with the company and how the revenue came was not known to the family. For them Vicki worked taking the mantle when Dev was lost. Every one doubted Dev's decision of selling the company when Vicki was against it. This itself shows how much they thought Vicki was the one actually working and they didn't trust Dev who was a phenomenon in business circles who came under the radar of Forbes business magazine. When the girls were married it must have been the Tripati's who did all the work with Dev missing even their bidai and Ishwari confining herself to her room. But even after all this the moment Sonakshi came back it didn't take a moment for Ishwari to take the key from RR to give it to Sona. She could have atleast had a talk with her prior to this. She deserved atleast that much respect. RR's tears cemented Vicki belief that they were just used by the Dixits like always. They were just guards for the Dixit famil wealth until they all woke up from their slumber. This is why he said that they are just guard dogs for them. In his mind that is the absolute truth. They said he is part of the family but the rules had always been different for him and the Dixit siblings, be it Dev, Neha or Nikki.
