I feel this is very similar to Bijoy getting slapped. Before even that had happened Bijoy had a strong desire to remove Sonakshi from IN and break her relationship with Dev.He thought Dev was a bad guy who acted like a good guy. He felt like he was the only one seeing Dev's true face and wanted everyone to see it. In that scene, even though Asha tried to stop him, he didn't. He kept continuing with his insinuations. He did not know that Dev would slap him, but he definitely wanted Sonakshi to see how the Dixits saw them as.
Archa, lets agree to disagree. I don't find much difference between Ishwari and Bijoy. Both are hypocrites and are self righteous. Ishwari considered Sonakshi as her son's wife but not as her DIL. Bijoy considered Dev as Sonakshi's husband but not as his SIL. Neither Ishwari nor Bijoy were supportive of Dev and Sonakshi's marriage. Both thought that the other ones child was not good enough for their kid. Both thought that they were doing a favor, that their kid was losing and was trapped by the other persons kid.
This topic has been discussed in previous threads, hence do not want to elaborate again on the same.
Bijoy who wanted his "wife" to support him never told Sonakshi that she should support her husband. He told that she was perfect and need not change but expected Dev to change. Told her Dev should not keep secrets from her, but encouraged her to keep things secret. If he was truly "righteous" he wouldn't have asked Sonakshi not to reveal about creating the company and looking for investment from Dev. I mean he wanted her to be Sonakshi Bose and not Sonakshi Dixit here. How is that being supportive.
Their methods may be different, but that underneath it Bijoy and Ishwari are the same. Both of them are blinded by their ego and pride.
Latha, I can totally understand your frustration with Ishwari. One of the most most important aspect of Dev Ishwari relationship where he considered as god was if Dev told her she was his god, she didn't refute it, she accepted it. This is where her act of getting slapped when Dev is seeing comes to play. In that FB she was able to change what was to what she wanted to be. Isn't that what we say god's(bhagyavidhata) do. That they have the power to change what is. Through the years as Ishwari was able to mold Dev into doing her bidding, her belief in her being a kind of god began to strengthen too. That is the reason why she till date has never thought that any of her actions or manipulations was wrong.
When Sonakshi left 7 years ago, Dev stopped worshipping Ishwari. But that didn't mean that she came out of her god complex. She still considered herself as a goddess and was waiting for the day Dev would come back and start worshipping again. What they showed yesterday with Dev coming to know of Ishwari's act and then blaming himself for it was very important. When he confronts Ishwari with the truth of theft, more than anything, Ishwari will no longer be able to avoid the fact that she is not god, but human. Gods don't steal and compromise, but humans do. Gods don't make mistakes and lie, but humans do. She will no longer be able to stay on the pedestal even if Dev feels guilty about her having to do all that she did.
Ishwari will have to contend with the fact that she is human, making mistakes just like anybody else and what she did for her kids is also not something that no one else would do. She will have to accept that she is just a "mother" to Dev and remain that for the rest of her life. Here Dev might start feeling guilty and start giving her importance and love that he feels she deserves. That is going to have multiple effects on Ishwari. On one side she will realize that her son still loves her even when she is not perfect and on the other hand will feel bad that he thinks he is responsible for her suffering.
This acceptance of being human is the first step to being able to reflect and realize her mistakes. She will now be open to assessing her actions as something that is not outside human sphere. What I mean is she will not consider herself above humanity.
