@meheraan and others who feel a disconnect with the storyline, I have started following these three accounts on twitter: moredottedlines, flyhigh4530, nehapatel620 (sorry don't know how to create links). They are the same people who write those metas. They make threads after every episode and have very beautifully explained the thought processes of the characters. I hope they will be able to help you 😊

I feel this is very similar to Bijoy getting slapped. Before even that had happened Bijoy had a strong desire to remove Sonakshi from IN and break her relationship with Dev.He thought Dev was a bad guy who acted like a good guy. He felt like he was the only one seeing Dev's true face and wanted everyone to see it. In that scene, even though Asha tried to stop him, he didn't. He kept continuing with his insinuations. He did not know that Dev would slap him, but he definitely wanted Sonakshi to see how the Dixits saw them as.

Sorry shaavi...i've to disagree on this. Bijoy's slapping n ishwari's slapping..dono me zameen asman ka farq hai. The only common thing is slapping nothing else.
Ishwari deliberately broke that vase so that her boss can punish her which she can use against her son. Her idea cudn b blamed fully bcoz she was a young widow with 4 kids to look after. But wat she unknowingly did was she vanished the blissful period of sweet childhood from her son making him a "child adult". He became successful academically n rose to a successfull man is another story.

Bijoy is a self made man who 's righteous with tremendous self respect but very short tempered in nature. He considers his daughter as a strong girl & wants everyone to accept her as wat she is. So wen he was accused of theft, he cudn tolerate that bcoz he never did such a thing in his whole life. He lost his control n lashed out. The problem with dev was he partially aware of the whole incident. He wanted an easy solution so jst to avoid further verbal fight , he unintentionally slapped baba. It was the outcome of an emotional outburst seeing an agitated mataji but he didn meant that @ all. The situation cud've been under control had ishwari being apologetic but she didn as she still cudn fathom as dev hid the truth of 5 crores form her. After all she's the Goddess mom so she shud know everything.

@ BOLD Actually bijoy was very supportive of their relationship. Wen he knew bout their relationship, sona said that bcoz of dev , she hid this from her parents as dev was nt able to tell that to ishwari. Then bijoy supported dev saying if sona felt difficulty in opening up to her parents even though they r very friendly, then it's quite obvious from dev's side. He'll definitely need more time to express . But bijoy was lil hesitant after their first meeting with ishwari wen she directly said her displeasure about this relationship. After marriage too , bijoy was furious that people in IN is nt accepting sona as wat she is .

Archa, lets agree to disagree. I don't find much difference between Ishwari and Bijoy. Both are hypocrites and are self righteous. Ishwari considered Sonakshi as her son's wife but not as her DIL. Bijoy considered Dev as Sonakshi's husband but not as his SIL. Neither Ishwari nor Bijoy were supportive of Dev and Sonakshi's marriage. Both thought that the other ones child was not good enough for their kid. Both thought that they were doing a favor, that their kid was losing and was trapped by the other persons kid.

This topic has been discussed in previous threads, hence do not want to elaborate again on the same.

Bijoy who wanted his "wife" to support him never told Sonakshi that she should support her husband. He told that she was perfect and need not change but expected Dev to change. Told her Dev should not keep secrets from her, but encouraged her to keep things secret. If he was truly "righteous" he wouldn't have asked Sonakshi not to reveal about creating the company and looking for investment from Dev. I mean he wanted her to be Sonakshi Bose and not Sonakshi Dixit here. How is that being supportive.

Their methods may be different, but that underneath it Bijoy and Ishwari are the same. Both of them are blinded by their ego and pride.

Yeahh Shaavi...i'm agreeing with wat u wrote but if v put both ishwari n bijoy in a weighing balance, i think ishwari will go further down than bijoy as she's more selfish n insecured than bijoy. Bhagvan kare aise maa-baap kisi dushman ko bhi na mile jo bachon ke upar apne fayde ke baare me sochte !
Hav a nice wkend everyone !

Shaavi I agree with your point. I place both Iswari and Bijoy in the same category. Both are blinded by their posessive love or obsession towards Dev and Sonakshi. Makers highlighted Iswari's extremities more than Bijoy and the result is before us. Bijoy's behaviour as you mentioned got overlooked and he is counted as a proud righteous and protective father. Only when we compare both by means of their actions and reactions we could understand their similarities. ( like you did)

Bijoy tested Dev's patience levels before the slap happened. The slap is unintentional but Bijoy's provocation is intentional. He never gave one tenth of value that he is giving Ronita now to Dev. He could never love him like Iswari who could not accept Sona in Dev's life. Both have the same ego problems regarding their children and their upbringing.

We blame Iswari for wishing to change Suhana Bose to Suhana Dixit. What about Bijoy who took pleasure in making Sonakshi Dixit to Sonakshi Bose to satisfy his ego?

Latha, I can totally understand your frustration with Ishwari. One of the most most important aspect of Dev Ishwari relationship where he considered as god was if Dev told her she was his god, she didn't refute it, she accepted it. This is where her act of getting slapped when Dev is seeing comes to play. In that FB she was able to change what was to what she wanted to be. Isn't that what we say god's(bhagyavidhata) do. That they have the power to change what is. Through the years as Ishwari was able to mold Dev into doing her bidding, her belief in her being a kind of god began to strengthen too. That is the reason why she till date has never thought that any of her actions or manipulations was wrong.

When Sonakshi left 7 years ago, Dev stopped worshipping Ishwari. But that didn't mean that she came out of her god complex. She still considered herself as a goddess and was waiting for the day Dev would come back and start worshipping again. What they showed yesterday with Dev coming to know of Ishwari's act and then blaming himself for it was very important. When he confronts Ishwari with the truth of theft, more than anything, Ishwari will no longer be able to avoid the fact that she is not god, but human. Gods don't steal and compromise, but humans do. Gods don't make mistakes and lie, but humans do. She will no longer be able to stay on the pedestal even if Dev feels guilty about her having to do all that she did.

Ishwari will have to contend with the fact that she is human, making mistakes just like anybody else and what she did for her kids is also not something that no one else would do. She will have to accept that she is just a "mother" to Dev and remain that for the rest of her life. Here Dev might start feeling guilty and start giving her importance and love that he feels she deserves. That is going to have multiple effects on Ishwari. On one side she will realize that her son still loves her even when she is not perfect and on the other hand will feel bad that he thinks he is responsible for her suffering.

This acceptance of being human is the first step to being able to reflect and realize her mistakes. She will now be open to assessing her actions as something that is not outside human sphere. What I mean is she will not consider herself above humanity.

Thanks for your reply Shaavi and I always like your optimistic thoughts wrt story progression. But when it comes to ishwari's realization, I have very little trust on makers as well as writers of this show. This may be because I am tired of looking for a positive change in ishwari or by seeing their endless efforts to cover up ishwari's abnormal actions. While addressing wrong doings we need to say it loud or else the message will get lost in the flow, this is what is missing from makers side while addressing ishwari's behavior. Still I want to hold on to your hope and wish to see what you predicted. Let's hope for the best since that's the only thing we can do.

Happy weekend everyone.😊
