Dev is with her and questions if it was necessary to stop completely or could it be allowed sometimes. He also asks if she knew what she was doing. She does not just say yes, but gives an example and says you don't need to teach me my job, same way as you know your job.

When Dev told her that he loves her and as a man loves his woman, he thought she understood stat. From his pov, they were already man and wife from that point forward. He treated her that way. When the first breakup happened, he could not understand why Sonakshi had taken his words at face value this time. Why she did not argue or say you do your job, I will do mine. But later he accepted what she said as he felt she knew better. Meaning she was the one to whom he would go to advice for relationships. Hence he thought she is right. His love and her role in his life could not accept it. He did all the things he did.

Here I am not understanding your point. You mean Dev can throw a tantrum(breakup) in response to his mother's tantrum(pill overdose). Sonakshi has to take the humiliation and understand as she is an adult and other two still kids?

After marriage he just assumed that she understood that they were husband and wife. There was no need to prove that to anyone. He did not understand why Sonakshi felt like she had to prove her role as wife or DIL or anything else if she did not find the need to prove herself as a nutritionist. Why she was not confident with herself. He tried to tell her time and over that she had nothing to prove and she was the best. But Sonakshi was looking for this validation from Ishwari and Bijoy that she was still the best.

Sonakshi tried her best to fit in the Dixit household because of her love for Dev. She knew from the above mentioned tantrum that if you keep MIL happy then son will also be happy. But she under-estimated her MIL. Do you think if she had invested only on Dev, Ishwari would have liked it? As it is Ishwari was paranoid that Sona would snatch Dev from her, so Sona wanted to pacify Ishwari that she is more interested in the family as whole and not only in Dev.

After the initial separation, she lost confidence in herself. This is one of her flaws where Sonakshi is not good at accepting failure. What Dev expected from her was to say this is what you get, deal with it. This is who I am, the way he accepted himself. He knew he was not the worlds best husband, but accepted that he was a work in progress and that was ok. He wanted her to think the same way and not try to go overboard with wanting to be the best wife or DIL. Her flaws or failures did not matter to him.

Her wanting to be best DIL lasted the initial days only. When she realized, nothing will make Ishwari her a part of family, her enthusiasm reduced.

Here is where Sonakshi failed. She could not accept anything less than best. She wanted herself to be best wife and DIL. She became to engrossed in that vision that she failed to see how it was affecting Dev. He felt left out. He tried to include himself with her that he tried to do things similar to her. If she said we should gift your family during Diwali, he did the same with her family. He thought this would make her happy. Although it did make her happy, it made Ishwari unhappy.

The failure was.. Dev only told her that he loves her as a man loves his woman. The action did not follow thru. Time and again, Sonakshi got humiliated, insulted. To keep Ishwari happy, Sona was made to compromise.

For Dev the logic is simple and straightforward. Keep each other happy. You are you and I am me. This is who we are. Be comfortable with that and accept it. Dev wanted her to accept her role as wife and not try to prove she is his wife. He wanted her to take it as her right and assert it the way she asserted as nutritionist. Be confident about herself.

This would have worked perfectly if they were in a nuclear family not in a joint family. Dev is like a child, his logic is simple and straightforward but he is surrounded by complex, narcissist, selfish people. Unfortunately Dev could not be man enough to act as Sonakshi's pillar of strength. He always wanted to be understood by Sonakshi but he never understood her.

Suppose a Gardner got a beautiful rose for his garden, loved it more than himself. So he put the rose in the garden and said, promise me you will always stay here, you will never leave me. It was spring when he had got the rose plant.

Next came the scorching summer. The Gardener saw that the sun was beating mercilessly on the plant, the ground near it was getting cracked. It's not that he stopped loving, caring or worrying about the plant, but he did nothing to protect it. It was in his power to provide shade and water to the plant, but he didn't. He assumed that if the plant needed help, it would ask for it. Even when he could see that it's leaves were turning yellow, he maintained that stance since he believed that his plant was a 'super plant' He continued sitting in shade and drinking lemonade and coming time and again to meet the plant and loving her.

But he continued to provide shade and support to the older plants in the garden as he considered them fragile.

Then came the rains and thunderstorm. The plant which had already gotten weak because of the summer and still had not been given any shelter or support by the Gardener, gave up fighting and was uprooted by a strong gale of wind. The Gardener cried buckets and was heartbroken that the plant had broken it's promise of always being there for him.

The plant seemingly had a major fault in all this that it never spoke about what it was going through or what it needed..

But there is a twist in the tale. The rose plant had been robbed of its capacity to speak or complain and scared to death by the gardener himself when he had earlier thrown her into the jungle on the complaint of the so called fragile older plants in the garden. In fact she had been brought back only at the behest of the older plants and not because the gardener had made an effort for her. So she had no courage to demand some shade and water from the share of the older plants

The gardener forgot this and kept on staying angry at the plant that why she didn't speak up, why she didn't stay or fight for being with him.
