I feel that behind the garb if these words he is screaming to his mother, look what your expectations has done to me.

I feel like we should be plotting this on a graph or something. 😆

Dev and Sona are like two equally strong waves -- when they had constructive interference, their amplitude increased dramatically and they experienced moments of intense happines. When they had destructive interference (that is their amplitudes were in opposite directions), they had the capability of flatlining their relationship, and each other's happiness.

That is why I specified that Dev is happier overall now. His highs are not as high, sure, but he doesn't allow himself to be dragged so low that it devastates him. Maybe "happy" is not the word for it, but he is content in living for himself at the moment.

@Sam Di

I completely agree with u...
I will not say he's truly happy but he is at peace...
He has understood what's his value in the family...seen the true colours of everyone he once called family!!
And the best part is that he is not averse to show his emotions be it bitterness towards Ishwari...initially he would always be so busy appeasing her, apologising to her, making sure she feels secured but right now he's only bothered about himself and is not hesitant to show Ishwari her mistakes without wrapping his words to make them sound beautiful!

His control on his business makes me happy and also he knows the tricks and have understood that he can do well without being too invested in the business

Loved his master stroke and the fact that he gives back to Vicky at every possible opportunity be it in front of the family or in office amidst employees

I am not at all arguing that Sona's indifference didn't bother him, but in the scene where Golu asks if Dev is sad, I read it as a direct reaction to the conversation with Ishwari that has just taken place. It hurts Dev to be like this with his mother because buried under all of his pain, there is still a lot of love. But he is no longer willing to make the first step and show that love unless he is certain that it will be reciprocated. He asserts that he is still hers, if only she is willing to accept who he is now. Ishwari, woefully misguided by everybody else's opinion, thinks that this new avatar is a black hole of doom that she must pull her "raja-beta" out of. Ishwari, why not put your heart before your brains and jump in the black hole with him? You might actually find you like it! 😲😆

@vayu_prachi: Thanks, and exactly. He is fully enjoying that luxury of complete honesty, now that he isn't concerned with pleasing everyone and their mother.

You may be right Sam but for me it was looking more like Sona's affect because in his first Convo with ishwari he was more calm and composed at the same time sarcastic but not hurt. But in the recent Convo he was looking more disturbed and hurt and I see the only difference between these scenes is Sona's presence.

I second your opinion here. It was Sona's effect. Her indifference affects him like a knife in the heart. Because he still loves her.

I have been a silent reader and do stalk the thread for all the wonderful analysis that is presented here.
One of the things we kept addressing is the art of balancing and how Dev should learn to balance relationships.

Why do I feel that Soha will teach him just that. Love for her dad and love for her mom shouldn't have to replace each other. Is soha can love her Dad without really letting go of her mom, Dev will also learn to balance Golu and Soha.

Why do I feel the kids will teach him that and in the end Dev will learn the biggest lesson of all... Balancing his mother and wife.

@divya, I think the first and basic rule for art of balancing is understanding where your happiness lies. From my POV, I feel he is already in that path and his pace is too good at present in this journey and I hope it continues. The only thing left from his side is understanding and accepting his share in this entire mess and the same need to be done by his two most important women also then only they can bring their lives back on track and I feel in this process these kids will play major part.

I agree Latha, i always said if Dev didn't stand up for himself there is no way he'd stand up for Sona.. In that sense I am glad to see Dev being unapologetic for his behaviour. Sam rightly commented, Dev is the happiest now but the void Sona created when she left is eating him from inside.

So long he didn't know were she was he could pretend to be okay but seeing her now he cannot ignore the storm brewing inside him.

All 3 of them need to remove the blinders and see that all 3 of them were responsible. Their foundation itself was so weak that they let nobodies like Vicky and GKB influence them. But ultimately the 3 of them are responsible for the situation that they are in today.

Thanks again for everyone's awesome contributions. I will add some generic comments and thoughts

1. Golu and Soha have now eaten each other's lunch. i.e. been nurtured by each other's families.

2. Does Golu remind anyone of his saurabh mama? And Soha of her Riya bua?

3. Is Vicky's surname tripathi or did a shukla adopt him in the last 7 years? The text said shukla

4. Won't it be cool if BigCha prepares sandwiches for Golu and Soha starts relishing them just like her mother did?

For some reason, I am not so hassled by soha-mumma and golu-bigcha girls vs boys conversation yet. With the kids being in the same class the possibilities are now endless. I am letting the story form around the set-up that the story teller has chosen to use.

Ishwari - the trouble here is, she already did the jholi-failaoing in front of sona once. Got the toy that Dev wanted but eventually didn't like him wanting that toy. So, her solution this time cannot have Sona in it. She is trying to show her raja beta all the other toys he has in his nursery and trying to remind him how happy(!!) he was playing with those before Sona suddenly appeared and then rudely left him. Dev 2.0 is amazing that way. He is happy to co-exist in the same space as the jhula. His room is back to pre sona days, but he has made his office more orange. He doesn't wear Orange anymore. But doesn't wear greys, blues and blacks either. You see, he has become his own person who is not defined by anyone's standards. And once you start living life by your own definition, you start defining your own happiness too. His mother's undue demands don't affect him and he is comfortably able to remind her of the prenup in so many words. This is a big learning curve for Ishwari who at one point in time wouldn't even let Dev bond with his sisters. There is hollowness in his expression but that is bound to be there because something inside him died - like one of you said, the guy who used to wear his heart on his sleeve now isn't as emotionally vulnerable as he was. If ishwari can stop defining Dev's happiness by her definition and be happy for him (she has already failed twice at this), she will see her Raja beta Dev right in front of her eyes. This suffocating-palokon-pe-resident-halwa-feeding love is what Dev is running away from. It already cost him the only thing he ever wished for.

The spanner in the works is going to be Soha. You see, if Dev has a bucket list - actual or virtual, fathering a tiny miny Bose-Dixit isn't an item in there. During the fake pregnancy he had everything covered but God had other plans and Mashi ma made an entry. I think similarly, Soha's appearance is going to topple all his plans. He is brooding over losing his first love. However, he also thinks its water under the bridge.

@Malika, I have been dreaming of Dev having his own bachelor pad. Wouldnt it be cool if him, Sona, Soha and Golu were to spend time together over there? We can always dream

@Sam, poetic justice indeed where Vicky has brought sona back in Dev's ecosystem just as Dev is wanting her as far away from him as possible.

DQ , interesting thing is no matter how much Ishwari had qualms with Sona , she was never forthright about it . She was ready to put up with that for her son's happiness . Its strange that both women , Sona n Ishwari were ready to put up with the things which did not sit with their character for the sake of love . I believe Sona letting go of RR's taunts had lots to do with it . Ishwari was not ready to tell him the truth until she thought this relation is bringing him nothing but misery .

Since Ishwari is still in denial of her own role in distancing Dev , I think introspection from her part may happen only if Dev breaks down once more if he loose his kid because of pre-nup she made .
