Hello all! Of course the title is "forever" and the person writing is me, so of course it would take forever right... but I haven't forgotten! My disappearance is due to several reasons, but I'm back... so here's a bit... Thanks to one and all... I don't know if anyone is still interested, but lemme know what you think!
Part 10
"Maa… fi?" she whispered in a state of astonishment… Could her ears be deceiving her?… Her eyes… were they feeding on her suppressed desire… to see the object of her deepest affection… Taking an uncertain step backwards, she felt as though the earth were rolling beneath her feet. Her amazed eyes momentarily explored the depths of the ones pouring into her… the genuineness of their expression stirred her soul. Blinking away the cloudiness with much difficulty, it took her a minute to regain consciousness to the situation… the surroundings… to the presence… With a trembling finger, she pulled back the errant strands of hair having escaped from her collapsed bun… The cool texture of moisture from her recent shower melted against her skin… but she felt immune to their feel… "Tune mujhe bataya kyun nahin…" (Why didn't you tell me…) Startled, she looked up again, acutely aware of the tinge of fire in his voice… Fire… The intensity emanating him was remarkable… but it was in those rare moments when it reached its pinnacle… when it was so severe, that even fire seemed deadly cold… "Kyun…" the tone was more demanding now… as he grabbed her wrists… pressing her against his chest… Acidic moisture stung at the edges of her eyes, as she attempted to realize what was happening… trying to control herself… Daring not to look into his gaze, she tried to avert her eyes frequently away… Faintly aware of the physical pain, it finally dawned upon her that he knew… he knew… A momentary euphoria burst amidst the chaos of her troubled heart… vanishing just as suddenly… as she realized, he knew… but only partially… With an unknown strength, she looked deep into the reservoir of the two pools reflecting her image…"M-m-Milind…" she whispered meekly as a stinging pain surged through her arm. Almost instantly, the grip on her loosened to a dull hold… only to give way as the soft breaths of an innocent interrupted the un-ending moment… Eternally grateful, and strongly concerned, she freed herself from his grasp, rushing over to the child just as it turned in its restless sleep. A film of moisture had clogged her vision, and as she held the child tightly against her side, her eyes blinked frequently… Her breaths were raspy, as though having barely escaped a fatal encounter…
He stared dumbfounded once more… unaware to his attention. Watching her soft eyes turn wild in fear, he silently cursed himself. Why did she do this to him?… She seemed to unleash something within him, that no other had ever had the capacity to… not even Ayesha. Even in her state of fear and confusion, he couldn't help but admire her control. Despite all… she never let herself entirely exposed… But he knew… he could feel it somewhere within… that she felt it too… Why had he been so blinded… so arrogant? She had expressed innocence numerous times… Yet he had always silenced her… His feral eyes felt her soft features with a helpless admiration… falling upon the arm that clutched the child's back. Curses… Slowly, he approached her standing figure. A distant hurt turned in him, as he watched her flinch slightly at his movement. Not meeting her gaze, he made her sit effortlessly… she did not retaliate, but her eyes moved in sync with his body. He could feel her follow his every step. Recalling a little white box on the kitchen island, he made his way towards that direction. The box was settled on a forgotten corner of the large marble surface, perhaps having been there for a day. A white lid lay sitting on it's side. Picking it up, he turned back to towards where he had come from. She had not moved. Nor had her eyes, which instantly grabbed him as he returned to their disposal. Ignoring her questioning gaze, he knelt afore her… gently taking the sleeping child away and setting him in the cushioned pen. Returning at her feet, he took her arm… delicately examining the wound. The broken bangle still pierced lightly into her skin, and as he removed it slowly… a thin layer of film spread across his eyes, as her wincing reached his ears. The cut was not deep… but he felt the need to tend to it with utmost care… Carefully dabbing it clean, he finished the task with a bandage. Examining the bandage, he spoke diligently, "Tere ko pata hai na maine tujhe dhoondhne ki koshish kyun nahin kii…" (You know why I didn't look for you…) He had not expected any answer, nor had he anticipated his own words… With a look of what looked like a stroke of satisfaction, he finally looked up… meeting her gaze… It told her what he did not need to verbally relay… She knew… Every day since that day, he had searched for her… albeit in the confinement of the walls surrounding him… the reflection staring at him through a cup of chai… In the scent of morning air… the light discharging from the shameless moon as it peered into the room… Constantly, he had berated himself for being so faraway.
After what seemed like eternity, he parted from the stare… unsure of himself… A hint of a smile crept upon his crimson lips as he straightened his body, whilst catching a glimpse of the child oblivious of its surroundings… Nodding towards the little guy, "Bahut hi shararti hai…" And as though an unexpected afterthought he added, "Baap par gaya hai…" He didn't remove his gaze from the one in blissful slumber, but could sense her eyelids flash immediately upwards… astonishment write over her face. If anything, he knew her eyes craved his sight… her mute lips recited his name… her pulse raced with the breaths that gave him life… It was strange, how separation had taught him to read her… If anything, he realized… that eternity too, would cease in the case of their union… Forever, was as close as ever…
Cheers,
