Part Eight
Before Shiv knew what he was doing, he shot to his feet, and brought Gauri into the shelter of his arms.
He buried his face in the crook of her neck, and inhaled her sweet scent.
Gauri, on the other hand, had no clue what to do.
Her arms, hesitant, slowly creeped up against Shiv's broad back.
No one had ever hugged her like this. Yes, her father, her sister, her buah, they hugged her, however, this embrace from Shiv was different,
It was a lovers embrace.
It was so new.
Shiv held on to Gauri, until he heard a soft cough in the distance.
He placed a small kiss on her shoulder, and stepped away from her.
Buah smiled at the both of them.
"My goodness kids, you have not even married, tum dono, and you are here, mingling. Tis, tis."
Shiv scratched the back of his head, while looking at the floor.
Gauri didn't know where to look.
"Come on now, you two, everyone is waiting down stairs"

Nikhila did not believe what was happening.
She must have heard wrong.
Shiv was willing to marry that, that, that, GONGI!
'What the hell is wrong with that boy', she thought.
Her SON! Her handsome, vital, young, wealthy, Kapoor son, was consenting to marry that, down market, simplistic, not wealthy, gongi, Chaterji daughter.
Nikhila wanted to vomit.
She picked up her phone.
*
"Hello"
The women who picked up was fair, her large green eyes, outlined lightly with khol.
Her long black hair was unbound, falling down her back.
Her venomous voice did not deter Nikhila.
"We have a problem" Nikhila spoke from the other end of the line.
"What is it?"
"Shiv, he is going to marry."
"WHAT! NO HE CANNOT!"
"I know, but there is something even worse. The girl is mute."
"Really?"
"Yes."
"Well, then. That is not bad. Then my job has become very easy. Thank You"
"No problem, laykin please, my son is not to marry that gongi, down market flea. "
"No problem aunti. Shiv is mine."
