Does Tumm Se Tumm Tak's Niharika feel awkward filming romantic scenes with Sharad? Actress says, 'I never..'

Actress Niharika Chouksey is all smiles as her show Tumm Se Tumm Tak continues to climb the TRP charts, recently securing a spot in the top 5. In an exclusive chat with India Forums, the actress opened up about the growing popularity of the show, the initial reactions it received, and the strong connect it has built with the audience.

How does it feel to not only be in the top 5 but also see the show climb to the 4th position? And what more are you expecting going forward?

The show is performing really well and everyone is loving the concept. Everyone is getting a lot of love from the show. And I really hope we become top 1 soon."

When the show was announced, there were a lot of apprehensions surrounding the wide age gap between you and Sharad. Do you think the audience has finally accepted it?

Initially, there were a lot of mixed reviews, as you said. But I had a lot of confidence from the first day that people are judging from the promos. But once they watch the show, they will definitely fall in love. And that's exactly what happened. Now all our haters have converted into lovers, so what can be better than that?

What do you think is making the audience connect with the show?

The show is quite different from the regular TV shows. If you see, there is no mother-in-law-daughter-in-law drama. Something different happens daily. Nothing monotonous is going on in the show. And every day I also feel like I'm performing something new. I don't feel like I'm shooting for a daily soap. Anu and Aarya’s love story, it's not a regular love story that they saw each other and fell in love. There are a lot of movements between the two. And even now this journey is very long. They won't meet so easily. So I think this is what intrigues people. And in our show, there is also a thriller part. Which ties people together.

Tell us about your bond with Sharad Kelkar?

It's a very good bond. It was made from the first day itself. From the first mock test. Because we both are from MP. He often tells me that you are my female version. We are so similar. And we both shoot and have fun together. We don't even know when the shoot is over. So we have a very good rapport.

When the two of you shoot for romantic scenes, has there been any sort of awkardness? How do the two of you navigate?

I think I'm already very comfortable with him. So I never feel uncomfortable. And the director, my entire unit makes sure. Sharad Sir makes sure that I'm always comfortable. And I see it as my job. And as such, with Anu and Arya, there are no romantic scenes. But when there will be, I don't think so. I never feel uncomfortable.

With the show consistently gaining momentum, Tumm Se Tumm Tak seems to be striking the right chord with the audience — and if Niharika’s confidence is anything to go by, the journey to the number one spot might not be too far away.
