Great post Ria.

I've also toned down on posting on the forum these days because I've become wary of whether what I say will inadvertantly offend any one.

Gone are the days when our opinions were accepted with an open mind....these days you have to think twice about posting something, because a member might take it as a personal dig.

As for the Iqbal / Neha / Amit bashing....thanks but no thanks....I'll stick to the characters only.


Besides that, there are numerous posts that are floating around I-F that border on insulting and controvercial, so Its best to just stay clear from them.

OMG Swordfish that was beautifully put . I too have an issue with over moderating in the name of "bashing" and actor/ actress where i feel its plain and simple criticism of some one's acting or singing ability .

Also the reaction of members to the posts , you can't imagine how rude , mean , insulting and bitchy people get . Let me give you an example - i posted in the Fame Gurukul section - I will not but Qazi's music . People responded so rudely . I was called stupid , inhuman , ungodly , arrogant , miss attitude ,a racist, i was threatened with a virus !!!

I often found posts where Harry Potter is bashed , or animals aren't treated with respect or Simran of Astitva is criticised . I choose to ignore them , only because i don't want people to attack me with those kind of rude words and hurt my beliefs !!

Its sad but i wish people would behave as maturely as you have written !!

Reason...?? Someone thinks Neha's expressions are funny....Lo.... We have a bashing session.... Is that reason enough to attack someone personally? Read Indygal's post regarding Qazi's singing....

THE AUDIENCE HAS THE RIGHT TO CRITICISE...... I am paying my cable operator.... Sony is paying Ekta and Ekta is paying her actors.... I have a RIGHT to complain if I feel someone is not good enough and can improve....

AS I SAID.....IT IS THEIR DUTY TO ENTERTAIN US..... WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO CRITICISE.....It is appaling to see the person being called names by the so called fans of the actor/actress just because of some criticism.....

And I am trying to tell you exactly the opposite thing.... Celeb bashing(as the mods would term it) is the birth right of every IF member.. Making fun of looks is cheap... But when someone tells something about an actor's dress sense or acting ( other than name calling) it is mere criticism and not bashing...

Calling a forum member names because she does not think your fave actor is good enough is BASHING... Read IndyGal's post about Qazi's singing.... (I am surprised how i could not think of that example myself!!)....

We all are humans.... We are not vegetables .... Hence opinions differ... You can beg to differ on opinions.... But do not resort to meanness....

Agree celeb bashing is the birth right of every forum member and we should excercise our right and do it - that is what the forum is there for. And it is kind of impersonal - we do not know the actors/actresses personally so can be forgiven.

However, when the forum member is the actor/actress's ma, bahen, bhai, dad, uncle, aunty, gf, bf it does not stay impersonal. -they are making personal comments about the actor/actress in front of their fans. They have an objective/motive in mind when they make these comments.

So, I believe, the forum members not only have the right but the duty to speak up against what they perceive is wrong. I fully support that. Do not believe in ignoring and keeping quiet about something that I believe is wrong - in the hope that if we ignore it it will go away. It does not - it has been going on for 5 months.
