However, I see some misplaced jingoism, which happens to be the main culprit behind the so-called fights, misunderstandings or whatever in the KYPH section of IF. Pardon me for using the word jingoism, but it closely resembles the mindless Indo-Pak, Israel-Palestine, US-Iraq or whatever bashing that goes on in other forums. The only difference being- There people are defending and standing up for their own country, ideology, religion or whatever… And here we are arguing about a bunch of totally unknown people who are totally unaware of our very existence. (We can only relate to the characters they play. That's it)
I know many of our Forum members do know Ekta and her actors personally and it is great if they want to share it with all of us. But aren't we forgetting that IF is a PUBLIC PLACE? To an average forum member, Iq, Neha and Amit are mere actors.
I am sure Iqbal's, Neha's or Amit's Mom, Wife, Sis, Bro, Uncle, Aunt, Friend etc. might be on this forum.. But here is a sincere request to you- when you react to criticism (of your brother, sis, niece, nephew, friend) please react like a forum member leaving your personal relationships aside.
And this is for the rest of the forum members- Even if Ektaa herself comes to IF to post a comment… puhleeeees treat her like another Forum member and learn to respect HER opinion.My comment and her comment should be treated with EQUAL praise or contempt. If you still feel tempted to bash up a Forum Member just because he/she is some celeb's Aunt, Uncle, Mom, Dad or whatever… Just pretend that the member does not exist and ignore their posts… Or better… try to hallucinate their user id with some other name. That will help you become less prejudiced… BASHING ANOTHER FORUM MEMBER FOR A CELEB DOES NOT MAKE SENSE…
Now coming to celebrity bashing…. I fail to understand why that very word is used so often by our mods and viewbies. I choose to call it criticism, which is perfectly acceptable provided we do not resort to mocking their looks, voice etc…. coz that is genetic. But what follows such a post is what I call "bashing".
We all know Iqbal, Neha or Amit will not lose their jobs just because some people feel their acting skills are not up to the mark. Yet, I see replies like " You dare not talk about so and so… No one can replace him/her…. We can bash you up for saying this…." Whenever a member posts his/her opinion.
Why can't we take criticism and praise in the same stride? I fail to understand. Why do we have to resort to meanness just because someone else thinks your favourite actor is not good enough? Just like Neha fans get offended when someone tells that her expressions are funny… Even I get offended when Amit (And I mean Amit…. not Prithvi) is called Chipko and God knows what…. Or when Rohit Bakshi (Shabbir) is called "That Cartoon."
Criticism does not mean someone is doing some black magic at home to brainwash Ekta to get both of them replaced with other actors.. I see no reason why people have to get agitated… Why should I flip channels if I feel someone is not acting well enough?? I will tell that his/her acting is not good...Its my right.. And it should be least of our concern what one actor thinks of another. I am sure no one has the sixth sense to read what is in the other person's head. Lets accept it. We (most of us) do not know the real Amit, Neha and Iqbal…
It is good to be a fan, but not a jingoist. For heavens… Who on earth are you defending?? I am surprised to see well-educated, mature individuals become so petty… It beats me why mere "fans" take criticism so personally… If your jingoism has anything to do with the actress/actor in the line of fire being your acquaintance or friend…. IF is not the right place
Neha, Iqbal and Amit are mere entertainers and being in this profession it is their DUTY to entertain us. And we, being the audience have the RIGHT to criticise them whenever required. And I think everyone should respect this right....................................................... ......(Moderators…. You can lock this topic immediately if you think it is offensive. But please do give me a correct definition of the word "Bashing.") I am accustomed to moderating far more bashing-prone forums; hence I have totally failed to detect any form of bashing on IF…Jingoism excluded (You guys are lucky)
I know most of the forum members are grown up, self-sufficient, mature individuals many are married and have kids(probably my age) and an identity of their own…You ppl are much senior to me in terms or age, status and experience… And I am a crazy lil kid still trying to find my feet in this big bad world… So please forgive me if you found anything offensive in what I said..
