Though did not want to update now. But updating since many of you have sent PMs due to issue of Fatehpur Sikri.

At Babur's time Sikri was called 'Shukri' means thanksgiving.

Later the word shukri corrupted to sikri...

And fatehpur was officially added to word sikri in early 1570's after gujarat campaign it is said.

Wait. If we get more, will edit this comment. 😊

Abhay, I've read somewhere Babur won a battle over Rana Sanga here and hence named it Shukri (which he thought was auspicious place for him). šŸ˜•

Yes, after winning the Battle of Khanua, in March 1527.

Since, Babur thought, that this was a fortunate place for him, as he won over his most dreaded enemy, Rana Sanga. So, the word "shukri", means thanksgiving.😊

Minor Update --- Fatehpur Sikri issue

Though, still searching.

But, construction in FS ACTUALLY COMMENCED much before 1569 ..!.. (don't ask year)

More we are searching, please hold on..😊..

P.S -> For those who sent PMs.
Construction started before those battles in erstwhile Rajputana or Gujarat.

Did NOT find
any connection with Rajputana battles, that Akbar erected this city for celebrating those victories.🤢.
