2.
Leave aside Mughals, I want to ask u, how many wives did Bharmal hv?
3.
At what age Jodha must hv got married considering some posts claiming that she gave birth to Salim at the age of 42.😲 U hv already said that Salim was born after 7 yrs of marraige.was this a first of it's kind marraige i.e intercaste? After this did any Hindu king got his daughter married to akbar?
4.
Who were Babar's wives? They came along with him? or he married them here?
5.
I am given to understand that marrying their cousins started much later in Mughals.
6.
Was Shariffuddin was also related to Akbar?
7.
Does this kissa of Sharif eying Jodha holds any truth in the history?I think nobody would dare to do so.
Abhay, u can post ur answer as n when u like, but pl. do.
Hey Geeta,
These days, responding late to questions, so kindly bear with late replies. 😊 BTW, no problems in asking, as i am
now more used to bombardings, more so, since the ' last few days ' . 😉 Ok, So coming to your queries. Responding point-wise.
1.Yes, Daniyal was born in Ajmer only. You may have a look at this
NEW thread, for Akbar-MUZ children. -->>>
Akbar - MUZ Kids :: Part-6 : JA is NOT Fiction .
2.I do not know this with 100% assurity, but i remember, i have read about his
4 wives, as per best of my knowledge. Bharmal had less wives, this is sure.
3.Interesting question, finally someone asked this,
before "
drawing conclusions". 😃 Till now,
we(I, KDR81 and Lizzy) were reading 'strange' comments with
certain conclusions based on
HK's DOB, even without knowing her
ACTUAL age. 😉 We thought, it's better to wait, until someone asks.😃😉 As you have asked the
AGE, so disclosing this.
As per
our info, Akbar married HK when she was not even
16 years old, in 1562.😉.😲.😃. We're glad, you asked this. 😉
[ PS -- Do not bring the DOB mentioned on Internet here. 🥱🤢
]Salim was born in 1569. Yes, other Hindu princesses also married him afterwards, BUT they were
JUST political necessities / alliances, nothing more. No more explanations required here. 😊
6.Yes,
Sharif-ud-din was related to Akbar, as he was the husband of Bakshi Bano, Akbar's half-sister. If you are asking about his origins, then
he also had Timurid background, as
his mother was the daughter of one of the paternal aunts of Babur. Sharif-ud-din was from a highly noble background to be proud of, both from mother and father's side.
His father's name was
Khwaja Muin, about whom we read as a materialistic person, who had the opportunity to perform
Haj, and he came to Agra in 1563-64
to meet Akbar. Sharif-ud-din's grandfather,
Khwaja Mahmud, was received as a distinguished guest in the court of
Humayun. His great grandfather was Khwaja Kalan, whose father, Khwaja Nasir-ud-din Ubaid-ul-lah Ahrar, was
a Sufi saint of Naqshabandi order. And,
Babur's father, Umar Sheikh Mirza was a
disciple of Khwaja Nasir-ud-din Ubaid-ul-lah Ahrar(mentioned above). Also, Babur had an interaction with Nasir-ud-din's sons.
Akbar had granted a jagir to the descendants of this Sufi Saint in Lahore, when they visited him, during their stay here for 16 years, before returning to Samarkand, in Central Asia.
So, the
chronology is ---- Khwaja Nasir-ud-din Ubaid-ul-lah Ahrar > Khwaja Kalan > Khwaja Mahmud > Khwaja Muin > Sharif-ud-din
Coming to Sharif-ud-din's mother. His mother was Kichak Begum, who was the daughter of Fakhar Jahan Begum and Mir Ala-ul-Mulk Tirmizi. Fakhar Jahan Begum was the daughter of Sultan Abu' Sa'id Mirza of SamarKand, who was the grandfather of Babur, and father of Umar Sheikh Mirza. Hence, Fakhar Jahan Begum was a paternal aunt of Babur.
And, the
chronology of Mughals is ---- Sultan Abu' Sa'id Mirza > Umar Sheikh Mirza > Babur > Humayun > Akbar
Hence, by connection from mother's side, Sharif-ud-din had Timurid blood in his veins, and by father's side he had a noble Sufi background. Still, we know he was different from both, and was a troublemaker. 🤢
4.Babur already had wives(10 approx.) before coming to Hindustan in 1526. But they stayed back in Kabul. His paternal aunt, Fakhar Jahan Begum visited him in Agra on 17 November 1527 and returned back to Kabul on 20 September 1528. During this time, Babur got to know about the 'atmosphere' (this was the word mentioned in the accounts) of Kabul from her, and this was one of the reasons for him to , consequently, call his Begums from Kabul to Agra.
5.No. This is wrong, if you have heard this from anywhere else. The
practice was present previously also. Even Babur married Dildar Begum, daughter of his
uncle, Sultan Mahmud Mirza(brother of his father-Umar Sheikh Mirza), in 1510-11.
7.I have posted this answer previously. Have a look, at this link.
