As 'Dhadak 2' gears up for its massive release this weekend, actress Triptii Dimri got into a candid conversation with India Forums and talked about her film, the idea of love and romance for her and more.
When questioned, "before joining the industry, through films, shows, whether Bollywood or Hollywood, how did cinema shape your idea of romance or love? Did it raise your expectations or maybe even spoil you in some way?"
Tripti: I think it's the same. Every time we've watched Bollywood films, we've always picked up something or the other from the actors the idea of romance, the idea of love and we've tried to apply it somewhere in our friendships and relationships. And it almost always ends in disappointment. Not always, but most of the time. But I'm really, really happy that Dhadak is coming out now, and this will be a different kind of romance. It's very, very different in a lot of ways. It's more real, more rooted.

Triptii: It's a very different love story. It's not a love story where, you know, you'll just see the pretty picture. It's a love story where you'll see what love costs in the real world. And I think there's a lot to learn from these two characters. There's a lot of learning for me as an actor from my character, and I think the same goes for him as well. Both the characters and the film will definitely teach the audience something. And I can't wait for them to watch it.
Since the reveal of Dhadak 2, anticipation has surged around the fresh on-screen duo of Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi. Unlike its predecessor from 2018 that launched Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter, this new chapter offers an emotionally charged narrative centred on Nilesh and Vidhi, two young souls whose love is tested by the deep-rooted inequalities of caste and class. Their journey unfolds in a world that refuses to make space for their connection, painting a poignant portrait of love in conflict with societal norms. Helmed by director Shazia Iqbal, the film is said to be a reimagining of the acclaimed Tamil movie Pariyerum Perumal, and is scheduled to release on August 1, 2025.
