Hi
Thanks for posting the scoresheet Manjari
Went thru it and found so many variances in the scores on the same stories
😕

Also in my opinion - the readers votes should have been rated separately
Then a cumulative average taken to arrive at the results
That would have been more accurate

This makes me feel, that as a reader , my vote really did not matter.
And especially since I have made a sincere effort to read all n vote before the deadline..

I do have one query on judge's comments
There is a comment on entry 2- saying the judge loved the banner
I am confused- what banner? I do not see any banner on the story.
😕

Very strange indeed.

Bold Black: Me too, and i'm confused

Bold Red: i'm to thinking the same and i was thinking in this way even before the results

Bold Blue: THIS IS WHAT I WAS TRYING TO SAY IN MY COMMENT IN THE PREVIOUS PAGE

I'm still waiting an answer.

And franckly speaking I feel sory for entry n. 20 because the Author really, really deserved to be the run up or at least got a special mention, I read that story and it was simply awesome, and i also want to clear that i'm not biased, if you think so, because till this results were out didn't even know that on IF existed someone with that ID.

My opition:

the run up and the winner should have been selected considering solely and exclusively the readers vote, because they took the pain to read all the OSs and vote too.
And the special mentiosn should have been given by the Judges, not always to the same stories but to the stories that didn't got too much votes but they deserved a few words

@ the author of entry n. 20 (i forgot the ID 😆) your entry touched my heart dammit!! I made something for your story (got too much inspirated) if you don't mind can i send it to you 😳

P.S. if you think that i'm not able to take the effect that i didn't won then you are wrong because i was the most happiest person when i got to know that i didn't won, and mera Rabb gawa hai iss baat ka, because i would have never loved to win with something that i personally didn't loved that much.

And Manjari you know how much i can be fair, QH contest is the proof.

And i have not yet finished...

Actually there was na entry with a banner, and it was the 2 if i'm not wrong because if you see the posts, the post of entry n. 2 has been edited after 2 days from the day all the OSs were posted.

So i think the author asked to removed it, because i remember seeing a banner when the stories were posted on the 29th october.

Maybe it was taken away because there were a name written on it, that could have lead to know who was the author of the OS, just a guess.

-------------------------------------

I am all satisfied with all the results posted and I really very happy for the writers who won, they deserved it. 👏

The only thing which bugs me is Entry 20. Ever since the voting started, Entry 20 had it. Till the last day of voting, it was leading.
It was just a matter of four-five hours that it lost place.
What I am trying here to say is that the entry which received 20 VOTES from readers gets nothing?

And stories which got votes less than 15-10 win prizes?

This is not a complain, this is what I think. There is purely no offence intended.

^^ i'm too not being offensive but i'm hurted that entry 20 didn't get anything, and someone who got just less then 10 or less then 5 votes got something, where we live guys? I mean from when the readers vote count nothing 😕

@ ab jab maine bola hai to i'm seeing also something else too:
how can someone judge someone esle on the inspitation, because the inspiration is subjective, not objective, and the OSs are one of the biggest poof. So how can they give 4 or 5 or even 3, 2 and one, i feel like saying to the author sorry but you don't have imagination
We all interpated the quote in different ways, not even 2 author wrote or interprated it in the same way 😕

And another thing that i'm not able to digest, we are all writes right? we all have readers, who more, who less, but we have readers! And some of our readers are even loyal to us, so how can judges give votes less then 6? 😕
I live in Italy and usually at school and not just there, the makers goes from 0-10

but 0-2 are not that used, and the others meaning is

3 - just a waste of time/not classified

4 - really bad

5 - bad, insufficient

6 - so so, suffice

7 - okay

8 - good

9 - very good

10 - excelent

so in my mind if you give 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 to the writes that means their writing skills are almost zero and the readers are just waiting their time to read their stories.

I'm not accusing the ones who won, i'm happy with manding souls, pani ke sapne and the prince of happiness, i enjoyed reading them a lot, but for me the entry n. 20 also deserved a mention. Just that.

P.S. i'm not able to translate the markes meaning propperly but more or less the meaning should be what I wrote

edited

P.S. i'm feeling sorry that i coudn't finish reading all the OS before the votes were because my votes would have gone to entry n. 20 maybe it would have changed something, even if i have doubts

Can we see the banner OS entry two please? I'm just wondering why it was removed for readers when the judges were allowed to see it as Misty rains made a comment on it.

I have not been either a reader of the OSes that were posted for the contest or a participant of the said contest. Nothing against the entries, I as a person do not involve myself with contests or awards on the Forum.

That being said, I actually read one OS after the results were announced. It came highly recommended by several people so I had to, had to read it.

It happened to be Entry no. 20.

I LOVED it and thought who wouldn't.

But to my surprise when I was directed to the results' page that entry had won no awards. I was taken by surprise!

I then went on to look at the scores. Judge Blue and Judge Green had given more or less similar marks to Entry 20. But to my surprise Judge Orange's scores didnt match at all. It felt as if I was checking out the scores of two completely different stories.

Now, the framing of the title, the interpretation of the quote, how well the story has turned out and if the author was true to the genre or not is very subjective. How I perceive these can be different from how you perceive it (Though judgements still cannot vary to this extent is another matter altogether)

But grammar is objective. It cannot differ between your perception and mine.

Entry 20 had two grammatical errors as per my knowledge. One, in a past perfect sentence the auxiliary verb wasnt followed by a past participle and the second one was a simple typo in a pronoun. Completely acceptable. To me it was a very well-written and structured OS. Something I wish I had written. Sigh...

Still Entry 20 got a 5 on grammar??? Like how?!

If Entry 20 got a 5 then I should expect everyone else who got more than 5 used Wren and Martin as their guide book! No offence to any of the writers on the list who got more scores, but I have read some work or the other by most authors out there and no one has that command over the language. Neither do I. How I wish! Sigh again...

So, I would like to question the TM/ Judge Orange how were the scores allotted, if not for the other criteria than at least for grammar? Why is there such a variance in the scores for Entry 20, making them look almost random?

I read one OS and was left speechless at the scores given. What will happen when I actually sit to read all and compare the scores?

PS: I have no issues whatsoever with any of the Entries who have won. You win one award, or you win ten; it doesn't affect me one bit. I found a discrepancy and am just looking out for an answer.

PPS: The author of Entry 20- Sorry for dragging your name here. You dont know me and I dont know you. But as I said before, I happened to check your scores and came here. Your only mistake was your OS came so highly recommended that I was left with no option but to read it. Also, I am not even 'liking' your OS on the OS thread (personal reasons). Whenever you plan to post your OS do PM/scrap me. I know I will have a fun time commenting on that one. 👍🏼

PPPS: The TM I happened to notice the thread on which Entry 20 was and the other OSes along with it is neither marked Members Only nor No Copy. Those works are of other authors. Please safeguard them as much as you can.

Rasgullaji ( I love that moniker)

That was bang on!
I saw the scores and was aghast at both the scores for the title n the language

The language could certainly not be faulted, especially when compared with many others who have been awarded higher marks on language

Regarding the title, Love is...quotes are famous
If any of you want to know more, please check on google
Google is the most amazing invention, you know
All the information you need - at the click of a mouse or a button 😆
And to me the title was inspiration, pure and simple - that cartoon strip Love is...really does encapsulate true romance - love in all the little things we do for each other...everyday
😊
